As with any tool the data is only as good as what you input into it - but as long as you take the time upfront to input the data then it can be a lifesaver later!

Pros

You can link people together by company
Link email to notes on individuals
Reminders to follow up with people
great value for price
If you set up a common data entry rule and how it is input it is SO WONDERFUL to pickup where another team member left off. You can see all activity.

My Favorite CRM — For a Team of One

Reviewed on 2018/01/09

Pros

As an entrepreneur this is my favorite CRM for new startups. It is so easy to use, and is optimized for keep track of contact information and previous communication. As a solo salesperson this is all you really need.

Cons

It doesn't support the amount of deal flow that a more robust CRM like Pipedrive or Salesforce supports. It has the ability to track deals, but doesn't organize them into reports or swim lanes like Pipedrive does.

Only for very basic CRM use

Reviewed on 2017/11/09

Pros

HR is fairly easy to use and I've found your customer service reps to be friendly and helpful

Cons

The functionality of HR is just not up to snuff for our business. Perhaps most important is the lack of ability to perform search queries based on search criteria/tags. This CRM definitely is only fit for very small/low budget businesses or those with little experience/need for a robust CRM.

Pros

I am not a sales person, I am a developer, but Highrise makes it easy for me to keep track of things. It's integration into email, the way I work, makes it a breeze to use.

Cons

I've used software in the past (a now defunct site) that aggregated info scraped from google, twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to give me more insight into the contacts that I had. I would like at least a little bit of that automation in Highrise.

Pros

Syncs with my Google Calendar and all my tasks/meetings are imported
Easy to add/remove contacts from the web-interface

Cons

Doesn't sync with my Contact List on my phone. I can't add a highrise contact to my phone's contact list. Nor can I search from my contact list (or my phone's search) to my highrise contacts. This addition would make it reach perfection

Nice and Lite CRM

Reviewed on 2018/01/11

Pros

The big bonus for this system is its API. We hooked up our custom ordering system to it and now our sales people can see all the orders that this contact has. It also ties into Xero.

Cons

Navigating around seems to be a little confusing. The difference between contact and business wasn't as clear in the beginning, however, once you do "get it", you can get around quickly.

We found Highrise to be a program that worked well for us as an entry-level database program.

Pros

We found it to be extremely user friendly and intuitive. The tasks and notes features were helpful, and we liked that we could send emails straight to a contact's profile.

Cons

There were no levels of permissions for our users. This meant that everyone had the capability to change or edit items accidentally.

Pros

I liked that I was able to stay on top of my client database of over 1K people with this online software. I do believe they are not taking on any more customers though or Highrise is over now.

Easy, intuitive, and simple way to do customer relationship management.

Reviewed on 2018/06/28

Pros

I love the feed you get when you first log in. You can simply see all the most recent interactions. It's also very easy to add emails to the system - simply BCC your unique user email ID and it's added in automatically.

Cons

It's not easy to get helpful insights based on customers. It's also not easy to break down customer types. This is where it falls flat compared to a product like SalesForce. I wish there was a way to integrate the two.

I love Highrise! It feels like a trusted friend--keeping and sharing precious the information...

Reviewed on 2018/03/02

Pros

Clean and clear design is cheerful and makes it easy to find and read information. The layout makes sense to me. Sharing notes and contacts in our small business makes all of us as smart about our customers as any one of us is. The easily customized tags and filters enables me to store information the way my brain works for sorting contacts. Easy import/export is fantastic as well.

Cons

I'd like the feature of notifying someone about a posted message to be available on a forwarded message as well. Doesn't currently seem to be. Flip side of customizing tags is that different people can inadvertantly create different tag names for essentially the same thing, making it easy to miss on the list you want. The benefit far outweighs this problem in my mind, but it has been a drawback for some of my colleagues.

Brought some clarity to our practice's marketing efforts

Reviewed on 2020/03/22

Pros

As a large practice, we have both clinicians and physician liaison's marketing to local healthcare providers and the community. Prior to Highrise, we relied on individual communications on our targets and recent visits. It was disjointed and often resulted in redundant efforts or gaps in coverage. Highrise allows us to easily communicate who we visited with and when. It also allws us to make notes visible to team members and provide a single platform to house information on all our community and healthcare relationships. The alerts and notification emails highlighting recent events is useful as well. I highly recommend using Highrise.

Cons

For a large organization, the news feed isn't very useful. Perhaps if it was region specific it would be helpful but currently it is simply noise.

We would love to have Highrise offer different permissions for different users, rather than the one-size-fits-all model. For instance, we'd like certain team members not allowed editing privileges, or certain team members to have limited editing permissions.

Pros

It's fairly easy to use and allows custom fields that are important to us. It's user friendly for our team.

Cons

There is not a 'read only' option, so team members who try to make edits or updates can mess things up.

Everyone at my company loves Highrise. It's easy to learn and intuitive to understand --even for the seriously non-technical employee. The few times that I have needed to contact support their response was swift, friendly and easy to follow. It's WAY cheaper than Salesforce and some of the other contact management databases out there.

Pros

Easy to use, easy to learn, easy on the eyes. It has an intuitive design and it NEVER breaks down.

Cons

I'd like to be able to run a report on all of the entries marked Clients to see their basic data and the field that I added "Referred By."

I was able to track information on customers and prospects, making my business run better than ever. I could quickly search & see my entire history of communication with a particular individual or organization.

Pros

I loved that I could import from an excel file & easily manipulate large amounts of data which made it easy to get started. I didn't feel like I was starting at square 1.

Cons

The thing that was challenging was that I needed to make large updates to my data on a recurring basis. It was tricky to make the large data batch updates to my customers without losing small changes I'd made to the data since the initial import.

I have used lotus databases, other online CRM's Highrise is the easiest to use of all I have experienced.

Pros

Tags, being able to dropbox link email correspondance to customer (person). I like the ease of management of duplications, since we have several employees accessing and adding contacts.

Cons

We deal with power companies, over several states. Multiple contacts in multiple cities. It would be nice to be able to search for example : Duke Power, Indiana (or city), then drill this result down by tag. I don't think there is a way presently to do this.

Response from Highrise

Thanks for the review Phil! This blog post and video shows how you can filter on a city AND a tag at the same time (today): https://medium.com/highrisehq/new-filter-ui-ded3467f5022#.pfxj0x3nv.

This is an affordable and easy to use CRM, freeing up time to those important things (like selling). The functionality is basic but really quite sufficient, and that's also why it's very easy to use.

There is no reporting functionality (yet), but there are a few providers that offer deal funnel reporting a.s.o. Also, Highrise integrates nicely to Gmail with an external tool. All in all, you won't loose much money trying it out and I'm quite sure you will be pleased with it!

Nice looking powerful system, but it was just too many bells and whistles for what we needed to do.

Pros

Highrise is cute and fun to look at as far as contact management solutions go. I liked the way the contact profiles displayed once they were set up properly. I liked being able to save notes on each one.

Cons

I felt like the amount of work I had to do to get it set up with all of my contact data didn't justify the end result for my purposes. Since I'm the only person doing sales for our business, sticking with my old address book and notebook just worked better for me (maybe a bit dinosaurish of me but it just works better for me) but if you started filling it out as you go from the beginning of the company or had enough sales people working on the same system to justify it, it could be a great setup.

Because it's by Basecamp, you know it will save you time and money

Reviewed on 2018/07/19

Pros

Highrise is easy to use, extremely intuitive, and very affordable. Highrise is built by Basecamp and it has it's own cult following. If you want an easy way to keep track of your customers and potential customers and you want it to mirror the human experience, and not feel stuck with the process you're forced into by your CRM, then you should try Highrise.

Cons

A lot of organizations are used to Salesforce, so it's hard to get people who have used highrise, or organizations that are willing to use Highrise, so even if you like Highrise you may find yourself having to use a different platform based on the organization you work with.
