My WooCommerce Review

Reviewed on 2023/02/13

My experience so far has been satisfactory

Pros

Here are a few of my favorite things about the platform:User-friendly interface: WooCommerce has a simple, intuitive interface that makes it easy to manage my store, even for someone like me who is not particularly tech-savvy.Customizability: The platform offers a wide range of themes and plugins, allowing me to customize my store's appearance and functionality to meet my specific business needs.Robust inventory management: WooCommerce's inventory management system has made it easier for me to keep track of my products and stock levels, saving me time and preventing stock shortages.

Cons

Here are my cons for WooCommerce:Steep learning curve: While the platform is user-friendly, there can be a steep learning curve for those who are new to eCommerce and website building.Performance issues: Depending on the size and complexity of your store, performance issues can arise, such as slow page load times. This can be addressed through optimization and the use of caching plugins, but it may require some technical expertise.Limited customization options with the free version: While WooCommerce offers a wide range of customization options, many of the more advanced features are only available with paid plugins and themes.Limited support options: While WooCommerce provides extensive documentation, those who require additional support may have to pay for premium support services.

An In-Depth Review of WooCommerce

Reviewed on 2023/01/17

Overall, I'm really happy with WooCommerce. It's easy to use and customize, and it offers a lot of features that make running an online store a breeze. The customer service is great, and the payment system is secure and reliable. The only downside is the occasional glitches, but I'm sure they'll be fixed soon.

Pros

I've been using WooCommerce for a few months now and I'm loving it! It's so easy to set up and customize, and I love the features and flexibility it offers. The payments system is really secure and reliable, and the customer service is excellent.

Cons

While I love the features and flexibility WooCommerce offers, I've had some issues with the checkout process. It can be quite confusing and slow at times, and there are still some bugs that need to be fixed.

Build a free online store

Reviewed on 2022/12/11

Pros

WooCommerce is the open source (aka FREE) e-commerce plugin made for Wordpress. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee to run your online store, building a free Wordpress website with WooCommerce is the way to go. Most free Wordpress themes come with WooCommerce functionality these days. And you can always add more relevant plugins to enhance your WooCommerce features. One big advantage is that you can download - and therefore own - your entire Wordpress website, which you can't do with a website builder (e.g. Squarespace, Shopify, Wix, etc.).

Cons

Putting together a WooCommerce-enabled Wordpress website is more technical than simply signing up to a website builder such as Shopify or Squarespace. If you're hosting the Wordpress site on your own server, you'll need to purchase an SSL certificate to make your website secure for online payments too.

Alternatives Considered

Wix, Squarespace and Shopify

Pros

allows to create and manage online stores. One of the things that I like most about WooCommerce is its flexibility and customization options. I can customize the store's design and functionality to suit specific needs and preferences, such as adding custom product fields, adjusting shipping options, or offering promotions and discounts.Another benefit of WooCommerce is its ease of use. with little or no coding experience I can easily set up and manage stores using the intuitive interface and drag-and-drop tools.WooCommerce also offers a wide range of payment and shipping options, including support for popular payment gateways such as PayPal and Stripe. This makes it easy for me to accept payments from customers and manage shipping and delivery options.

Cons

One of the common complaints about WooCommerce is that it can be resource-intensive, which means that it requires a significant amount of server resources to run smoothly. This can lead to slower site speeds or even crashes if the hosting provider is not robust enough.

The best E-Commerce Platform with Some Drawbacks

Reviewed on 2023/02/16

WooCommerce is an excellent e-commerce platform that allows you to easily set up an online store and start selling your products. With a wide range of features, integrations, and customization options, it's no wonder that WooCommerce is one of the most popular e-commerce solutions available.

Pros

WooCommerce is a powerful e-commerce plugin that seamlessly integrates with WordPress to help users set up and manage online stores quickly and easily. It's an excellent option for small businesses that can't afford a complex e-commerce platform and want to create a custom web store. With WooCommerce, you can build a free WordPress website and have full ownership of your entire site. The plugin also provides a user-friendly interface and a wide range of add-ons to improve your store's functionality and features, such as payment systems integration, filtering options, and cryptocurrency payment plugins. In addition, the WooCommerce community is active and supportive, providing valuable resources to help users complete tasks with ease.

Cons

Despite its many advantages, WooCommerce is not without its flaws. The most cons that I have noticed with my +2 years of using Woocommerce, One common issue is that the platform has many external extensions that are poorly coded and can cause bloat, which may result in website crashes. Another problem is that WooCommerce is a heavy plugin that can significantly increase the load time of your website. This means that updates must be vetted in a test environment before going live, which can be time-consuming and disruptive for store owners. Additionally, some essential functionalities like one-page checkouts and quantity discounts require purchasing additional plugins, which can add to the overall cost and slow down your website. Finally, some third-party functionalities can be expensive, and the pricing model is the same for small and large businesses, which may not be the most cost-effective option for all users.

Power Up Your Online Store with WooCommerce

Reviewed on 2023/02/19

WooCommerce has generally been well-received as a flexible and powerful e-commerce solution for businesses of all sizes. I appreciate its ease of use, flexibility, and integration with WordPress, as well as its large community of developers and users who contribute to its development and provide support.

Pros

WooCommerce is very user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy for beginners to set up an online store. The plugin is highly flexible and can be customized to meet the specific needs of any business. It has a large and active community of developers and users who contribute to the plugin's development and provide support to users.Anyone can take advantage of the vast range of plugins available on the WordPress platform. WooCommerce is open-source software, which means it's free to use and can be modified and customized by developers. It supports a variety of payment options, including credit cards, PayPal, and Stripe.Design is SEO-friendly, which can help improve your store's visibility in search engines and drive more traffic to your site. WooCommerce stores are mobile responsive, which means they can be accessed and used easily on mobile devices.

Cons

WooCommerce is highly customizable, but this can lead to plugin overload. Using too many plugins can slow down your site and make it difficult to manage. It may require more resources and customization than other e-commerce platforms to handle high traffic and large numbers of products.

Review for WooCommerce

Reviewed on 2023/03/13

WooCommerce is a great choice for anyone looking to easily set up and run their own online store.

Pros

The great thing about WooCommerce is that it is an open source e-commerce platform, meaning it's free to use and customize for anyone who wants to. This makes it ideal for companies who want to customize the platform for their own needs without having to hire expensive developers. It is also highly scalable and can easily accommodate thousands of products and customers. Additionally, WooCommerce is very user-friendly and easy to set up, so anyone can begin selling products on their own website with minimal effort. On top of that, there is a large community of users and developers who are always willing to help out, making it an excellent choice for those starting out in e-commerce. Finally, WooCommerce offers a wide range of powerful features and extensions that can help businesses maximize their online stores.

Cons

I wasn't impressed with the few customization options available and how hard it was to create a store from scratch. It is also not the most intuitive platform for those who are not tech-literate. Furthermore, some of the paid plugins can be quite expensive, making it not always the most economical choice.

Not only this set up an online store with woocommerce helps us to complete the project on time with all functionality such as Payment gateway & shipping partner Integration. It is also easy for store owners to manage their online stores on their own with no or little help.

Cons

However, if you're looking for more features or customization options, you'll need to add lots of plugins which can impact the page loading speed and may affect the SEO of the websites. But overall, it's a great platform for beginners who are just starting out their E-commerce with Limited Budget.

My experience with this software is quite enjoyable, it is a great advantage to have this plug-in to build a professional store that allows you to sell like the big companies, taking in count that you practically own the store and you can do anything you want with it and sell anything you like, forget about being suspended or penalized it is practically yours.

Pros

- This plug-in software for WordPress is something else, it is really complete and allows you to create functional store from A-Z.
- It is extremely flexible and you can edit just about anything from shipping to payment processors, give coupons perform cross sales and up sales.
- It has several paid modules but you can purchase them as you go, plus if you are starting the basic out of the box version has enough to make you money so you can start adding more paid functionalities.
- The entry base system is free and works seamlessly with WordPress and it is fully responsive to any device.
- It works great with page builders such as Beaver Builder, Elementor and others, if you do not want to code this is a good choice.
- You have the biggest companies and shipping services having interrogations for Woo-commerce.
- It has a set up wizard that allows you to get started quickly.
- There is a lot of documentation and the woo-commerce community is huge.
- You can easily find a developer that is familiar with this system.

Cons

Needs more improvements!

Reviewed on 2022/09/06

You can build your e-commerce with it. But you have to be extra technical to build it.

Needs improvements, definitely.

Pros

First off, WooCommerce is the first choice when it comes to fast e-commerce website. It is CMS-based, offers large library of extension for all and varied e-commerce demands, offers considerable customizability. Knows what the e-commerce industry needs.

The thing that I like most about WooCommerce is it's large libraries of extensions. It's less likely that you'll ran out of options when it comes to customizing the function of your store.

Cons

Branding. When you want to customize your store to strictly follow your branding guidelines, this is where WooCommerce falters. There is not much you can do with the checkout page, cart page, thank you page, my account page and all.

Extensions tend to be expensive. Even those that have simple functions.

Common sense functionalities are not added. It's either you have to install a third-party plugin or buy there own extension, or code it for yourself.

Great e-commerce tool --- unfortunately it is on Wordpress

Reviewed on 2022/05/18

I have several Woocommerce stores and deal with many others that are owned and run by other people. I have good experiences with it, it is a high-quality product and even if it is not perfect, it is light-years ahead of many competitors.

Pros

It is free but still offers all necessary functionalities to start and run an online store. It is easy to use and there are a lot of extra functionalities available, some paid, some free.

Cons

The biggest dislike I have is that it runs on WordPress. It is very unfortunate, but we must live with it. Another dislike is that some of the 3rd party functionalities are very expensive compared to what they offer. The pricing is the same for a tiny new store and a well-established big online giant. I would rather see some other kind of pricing models for some of the plugins, but...

Alternatives Considered

Wix, Squarespace and Shopify

Reasons for Choosing WooCommerce

i still have J2Store-based stores too, but that software is not developing fast enough, unfortunately. Maybe new version comes soon. Magento is a relic, and I will try to stay away from it after few mistakes in the past.

Reasons for Switching to WooCommerce

Shopify has a lot of hype around it, but when you start using it you will find out its shortcomings - which there are many. For example, try creating discount campaigns while offering individual coupons and see how well that goes. They have promised to fix the basics for years, but I lost hope waiting. Wix and Squarespace might be easy options for non-techies, but have serious limitations if you want to do more customized stores. Plus, with all of these three software, you are married to their service and servers, and there is no way out. Woocommerce store is built and you can move it somewhere else if you want, you can close it for a year and open it again if you want. It is yours. Wix, Squarespace and Shopify stores are not.

Too difficult for novices; not enough in-box customizations for the savvy

Reviewed on 2020/08/11

Pros

I like that it is widely integrated into Wordpress themes. I like that it's connected to Stripe and PayPal. It's automated emails are nice, as well. Plug-ins are nice (but they are expensive and often are required for things you would expect out of the box). It can be customized to some degree, which was helpful for us...in some other ways, it is a bit rigid and not quite what you would want if you are trying to replicate a retail experience.

Cons

I would never recommend this to anyone who wasn't very, very, very tech savvy. It is absolutely not an option for people who don't have a lot of web development experience. It tries to be a system on its own, but we have found you really have to simply take the purchase data out of Woocommerce and put it into your own CRM system. We have decided to stop using it for our purposes of registering students for classes. We may still use it for the sale of items, but probably not.

An Easy to Use Ecommerce website builder

Reviewed on 2019/12/29

I used Woocommerce to build my ecommerce website. It was easy to do unlike starting from scratch to build the website. Also I didn't have to pay website developers to build the website for me. It could have costed me a whole lot of money had I outsourced it to website developers.

Pros

Woocommerce is an ecommerce plugin built for WordPress. To be able to use Woocommerce one must install WordPress first. Just like the parent software (WordPress), Woocommerce is very commendable.

The things I like about Woocommerce include the following:

1. Free to use: Just like WordPress, Woocommerce is free to use, though one may need to purchase some premium plugins to add some features that may not be available in free plugins. Cost was a major factor for me when I was making the choice of a platform to use for my ecommerce website, and Woocommerce was the best fit for me.

2. Support network: Woocommerce have a huge user base. There are online and offline communities where one can easily get solution to problems.

3. Ease Of Us: Woocommerce is very easy to use compared to some other ecommerce website builders I've checked out. One only have to install compatible themes and plugins to get started. It is a drag and drop ecommerce website builder, and need no technical skills to get started.

4. Security: Woocommerce websites are secure. The plugin witnesses regular updates to keep it secured.

5. Dedicated Dashboard: Woocommerce have a dedicated dashboard where one can see the performance of the website, like the number of sales, and the amount of sales. This is beautiful as I get to see how my business is going without much ado.

Cons

One of the issues I had with Woocommerce was the learning curve. Though it's easy to use after one is done learning it, but the learning curve wasn't very easy for me. After the initial stage of learning though, it became very easy to use.

Also with Woocommerce, I had to be updating the server myself unlike with Shopify. Shopify maintains the server. Shopify handles the technicalities.

Another issue was the need to buy an SSL encryption. With Shopify, this wasn't an issue for me, as Shopify takes care of that.

WooCommerce is robust but can be a bit daunting to setup or use for complex situations

Reviewed on 2019/08/08

I like WooCommerce because I use it a lot and it works well with my own Web Development I do but sometimes it's just quicker and easier to tell a client to use something else in some cases.

Pros

WooCommerce does a great job at a variety of different things right out of the free (mostly) box. Want to open a shop for your comic book collection? Done. Want to sell tickets to an event? Done. Want to just keep a log of event attendees and "sell" a free ticket? Done. Just about anything you could need to do is fairly simple with WooCommerce once it is setup.

Cons

Setup and configuration can sometimes be a bit daunting especially for those that are not well off on knowledge of WordPress. If you want to do certain more complex things with WooCommerce you can sometimes run into issues either being able to do them at all, being able to do them exactly the way you want, or finding a plugin that operates the way you need. Then, even when you do find a plugin, you have to then keep yet another plugin up to date as well as possibly pay for said plugin too. It can add up quick if you start to get a little more advanced with WooCommerce.

It's absolutely a game-changer for me and my very small business. I sell items online and moved away from big commerce marketplaces because the fees were eating me alive in an already super competitive market. I can now run my own store on my own website and list as many items as I was for free. I also have the ability to modify Woocommerce however I see fit to my needs. It's a little tricky at first but worth the time investment considering it's a free opensource app.

Pros

It's free and it's open source! If you have the time and a little bit of patience this is well worth the investment of knowledge it takes to get it up and running. The modifications you can implement and the documentation on how to do so I plentiful online. Having the ability to manipulate such a versatile plugin for your website is monumental when running a small business and literally doing everything for yourself. You can also integrate print-on-demand stores like Printful into your Woocommerce store which is one of the best features!

Cons

It can be overwhelming. If you are not familiar with the backends of websites and a little coding this might not be for you. If you are unfamiliar with e-commerce this can also be overwhelming too. The language and deep level of modifications and settings can make your head spin.

WooCommerce Excels in Ecommerce

Reviewed on 2022/07/11

I have been using WooCommerce for over ten years. I love the Ecommerce platform. I have tried their competition but always return to WooCommerce. They are always improving and adding plug-ins. My hosting is on Bluehost with WordPress installed as the CMS and WooCommerce as my Ecommerce platform. It's great. The only time I experience any issues is when a server glitches or goes down. I highly recommend WooCommerce as your Ecommerce platform!

Pros

WooCommerce is a highly customizable platform with over 55,000 available plug-ins. The platform is open source as are thousands of the plug-ins. There are also premium plug-ins available. WooCommerce Payments is easy to install and deploy which allows you to receive payment for your products which may be physical or digital. WooCommerce is more customizable then their competition. Once you use this platform you will not want to switch. If you are paying for hosting separately, it only makes sense to use WooCommerce so you are not paying twice.

Cons

The learning curve for WooCommerce requires more effort than their competition, which is why it is more customizable. It is advisable to read the literature available on the WooCommerce website and access their help section for guidance. If you have any coding skills, you will be fine. Your SSL Certificate will not be automatically hooked up. On your hosting account you will need to install that. Also you will need to write your Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Return Policy and link to one of your menus. Make sure to add a cookie plugin so you are covered legally in the United States and Europe.

Good and bad experiences with Woocommerce.

Reviewed on 2022/10/07

It’s been ok and got us to where we need to be. We are thinking of switching away in the future mainly due to inventory management not being great, and very time consuming.

Pros

It’s easy to set up, simple to customise layout and overall look of the website. Very inexpensive compared to the majority of competition.

Cons

Slow and sluggish at times. A long and drawn out process to add new products with multiple sizes. No matter how high our security is, we have still been hacked twice.

Excellent E-commerce Plugin For WordPress

Reviewed on 2020/03/20

There are lots of reasons that I love WooCommerce. I really like the interface of WooCommerce, because it is very easy to understand and use. The product title, product long description and product short description, these are the fields where we can describe our products. So I always tell each and everything about my products to my website users. So after reading these details they buy the products. I have also used WooCommerce for my clients. My experience with this WordPress Plugin is outstanding. Because now I can design a good looking and professional e-commerce website.

Pros

WooCommerce is an incredible WordPress plugin which allow the users of WordPress to create a professional and stunning shopping website. Adding products and defining different categories to the products now is every easy with WooCommerce. You can publish simple product, variable product and even affiliate product. If you have affiliate marketing experience, then you should use this Plugin, because you can add your affiliate link products easily in your website. You can find different payments methods in this Plugin settings like if you have an account in any bank, you can tell your bank swift details to the customers. You can add your PayPal account, or even you can enable Cash on Delivery option for your customers.

Cons

According to my experience, display option of the different products should be simple and easy for the new users. Like in some free themes the users add this concept using code. So I think so, there should be an option in the settings of the plugin, where a user can easily display the products with different search options in the webpage.

Best e-commerce store development platform

Reviewed on 2022/12/02

Being an e-commerce website developer, I always prefer using WooCommerce for most of my clients because of the tons of offering it has. It only takes few hours to complete the setup of your online store. From creating your product catalogue to manager orders, everything is super easy and smooth in WooCommerce. The inventory management, shipping management and collection of payment for every order is also too easy. Since there are too many plugins available in the market for every add-on feature so scope of enhancing the store features is also great.

Pros

WooCommerce is one of the best options available in the market if you are looking for an e-commerce store for your business. It allows the store to add their products, products categories, product options and product description with price. The super smooth shopping experience using AJAX shopping cart and a simple checkout page boost the chances of conversion. The flexibility to add any payment gateway to collect payments also adds up to WooCommerce features. Addition of more features to a WooCommerce based store is also too easy as it could be achieved through different free or paid plugins.

Cons

WooCommerce is a robust platform which offers everything which an e-commerce store needs to operate smoothly but there is surely some scope of improvement in loading of product pages. WooCommerce aslo needs to push the limit of maximum number of products in its free package.
