The go-to for Google Workspace organizations

Overall, ManageEngine Endpoint Central enables me to schedule automated patching of systems, deploy software and software updates, execute scripts, remotely assist users, and manage assets -- on both Windows and macOS. This is all without needing Azure AD or on-premises Active Directory.
Pros
In my comparison of endpoint management products -- both in 2020 and again in 2023 -- ManageEngine Endpoint Central (Enterprise or UEM) was the only one to check all of the must-have boxes for organizations that aren't entrenched in Microsoft 365. It also does so at one of the most competitive prices.
Cons
It doesn't provide automated/audited privilege management/elevation for providing users with local administrator access on their system when needed. Instead, you must deploy a configuration change to add them to the local administrators group, or to create a second account with administrator privileges.

It was a good software to experiment with for the purpose of trying to lessen the time needed to update servers.
Pros
It had a pretty straightforward interface for patch management once we got the computers we needed added to the inventory
Cons
Sometimes updates didn't successfully apply but there was no error message indicating that.

Support is poor. They call back late at night when you have a ticket. Major problems understanding them and they raise prices after they give you a quote and you send a PO.
Pros
It is fair. Also a requirement. If you have other products, they work together.
Cons
They changed licensing after giving a quote and us sending a purchase order. They then turned it off even though we sent the PO two weeks prior. All they will say is we have to call them. We have major problems understanding them so the call is no good.

We have been using Endpoint Central to manage 100+ Windows based computers at multiple locations around our business for over 10 years now.
It makes IT support and system management a breeze. Everything from ensuring BitLocker encryption is on, installing critical patches, deploying new software, image capture and OS deployment for new computers - it's a no brainer for computer management.
On the few rare occasions that we've needed help OR just had a few questions, the support team has always been fast to respond and provide us with the information that we need.
As a sysadmin providing level 1/2/3 support I highly recommend this product.
Pros
Endpoint Central's remote control tools enable us to provide reliable IT support to our staff from anywhere with an Internet connection. We can easily deploy custom scripts, software, and other configurations to all of our devices at once, AND the Threats & Patches functionality keeps our computers up to date with minimal effort.
Cons
Lockdown / kiosk mode for Android devices did not provide us with the same functionality as some other platforms, but we primarily manage Windows based systems so this was a very small trade off. Windows management is fantastic.

It is feasible for small and large companies. It allows us to manage all of our end devices, both mobile and desktop, allowing us to maintain them in a secure and feasible way, with updates managed in a safe and feasible way for the good performance of our IT organization.
Pros
It allows for centralized management, where you can centralize the management of your devices, management of security patches and applications.
Cons
Endpoint Central administration has more pros than cons. Where it got a bit complicated for me was in the configuration of email management for the administration. Then I got the error.

Pros
Makes it so much easier to manager remote employee endpoints. Can update endpoints a lot easier than when we used WSUS from Microsoft. Can quickly see on the dashboard when items need updates, and quickly find out which updates are needed
Cons
Like most products there is a learning curve. It is a bit tricky at first understanding the packages and deployments, but once you get past that it's easy to maintain

Overall, Endpoint Central is a go-to solution for enterprises looking to establish robust endpoint security across all their assets (servers and end-user devices) while adhering to international security frameworks such as ISO, NIST CSF, and PCI DSS. Its detailed reporting features enable admins to monitor endpoint health, patch compliance, software inventory, and more, making it easier to identify and resolve issues swiftly. When compared to other endpoint management solutions, Endpoint Central offers a competitive feature set at an attractive price point, making it a great choice for mid-sized businesses.
Pros
This is an all-encompassing Endpoint Management solution that I've used in both my previous and current organizations. It streamlines the management of end-user devices (laptops, desktops, and mobile devices) as well as servers (Windows, Linux, and macOS), significantly boosting team productivity. Key features include Patch Management, Software Deployment, and Remote Administration with Remote Control capabilities. The platform offers a unified dashboard, allowing you to manage everything from a single interface. Additionally, its Mobile Device Management (MDM) functionality is particularly robust, and we prefer it over Microsoft Endpoint Manager for managing mobile devices. The solution is available as either an on-premises package or a cloud-hosted option (across the globe).
Cons
Given its broad range of features and capabilities, there is a learning curve for first-time users. However, ManageEngine offers professional training and certification to help enterprises ensure their staff is well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills before using the platform

We used to use Microsoft WSUS for patch updates, but it was not user-friendly and difficult to manage. We tracked assets manually. With Endpoint Central in place, patch management for Windows and Linux is streamlined and worry-free. The asset list is detailed and easy to manage from a centralized location. Additionally, we have automated browser and desktop configurations for both Windows and Linux.
Pros
- Effortless patch management process for Windows and Linux, including third-party software.
- Detailed asset Management showing all the Hardware and software details.
- Configuration Management to automate the Endpoint related task.
- The service engineer doesn't need to go to the System instead they are using a troubleshooting tool from the Endpoint Console.
Cons
Most of the options are not available for the Linux OS. We may need to write a script to automate the process, which requires much effort.

Overall it has been pleasantly good. There are some things that they could improve on, but you can say that about anyone. In my opinion, Endpoint Central gives you the most for your dollar.
Pros
The main pro is the cost point. You're able to implement a lot of features and control a lot of things for very cheap. If you're a small company and trying to achieve compliancy with NIST 800-171 or anything else, I think this tool is a really amazing starting point.
Cons
In terms of the actual product, there isn't many cons. The biggest con is that interacting with people from support or ManageEngine can be a little weird. Just the other day someone from support called my cell phone for a meeting. I didn't mind it too much, but my phone was at 2%.

My overall experience with ManageEngine Endpoint Central has been positive. It's a robust solution that offers a wide range of features for managing endpoints across an organization, such as patch management, software distribution, and remote troubleshooting. The automation capabilities significantly reduce manual tasks, saving time and effort. While the initial setup can be challenging and the interface could use some streamlining, once configured, it provides excellent control and visibility over the network. Its scalability and depth of functionality make it a valuable tool for IT administrators looking to enhance endpoint security and management.
Pros
What I liked most about ManageEngine Endpoint Central is its comprehensive approach to endpoint management. The tool simplifies patch management, software deployment, and remote troubleshooting, all from a centralized interface. Its user-friendly dashboard and extensive automation features make managing diverse endpoints efficient and straightforward. Additionally, the detailed reporting and compliance tracking provide great insights into the security posture of the environment.
Cons
What I liked least about ManageEngine Endpoint Central is that the initial setup can be somewhat complex, especially for larger environments with many endpoints. Navigating through some of the advanced features may require a learning curve, and the interface, while comprehensive, can sometimes feel cluttered. Additionally, the reporting features, though detailed, could benefit from more customization options to fit specific organizational needs.

Smashing one stop solution End point management, R.M.M and patching tool
Reviewed on 2024/05/10
Pros
Manage engine UEM has assisted us immensely with patch management, which has eliminated manual patching of our servers via Windows(W.S.U.S).
To schedule an ad-hoc session, all that is needed is an remote session offered via the inhouse RMM tool, almost eliminating end user interaction.
We have also gotten on top of our application management via this tool, that assists end users to update their applications with minimal or no input from them, thereby reducing human interaction and errors.
The support when we have faced technical issues has also been top-notch and highly interactive.
Cons
Slow support, compared to other vendor like Microsoft of VMware.
Licensing fees can be bit less for a small SMB, they could go with a tiered pricing
