Overall my experience has been positive. Jackrabbit is expensive, but they seem to offer the most features for a complex dance school. One way or another we can find what we need through Jackrabbit

Pros

What I like most about this software is the customer service. This is a robust and complex system that has evolved spectacularly over the 10+ years that I have used it. There are many features that can be confusing at first. But the customer service team is always ready to help and in a way that makes it easy to understand and replicate on my own later.

Cons

One thing that is missing is a retail feature for online sales. They have implemented a retail feature that can be done in person. But I would love to be able to sell our uniforms on our website through Jackrabbit. I would also love to see the email/communications features made more robust. It would be nice to know who is opening our emails and who is not.

Pros

I like its ease of use compared to other programs I've used. There's a lot of great info available via video/articles and the customer support has been great so far.

Cons

The search engine can be finicky. I dont like that when i schedule a makeup class i need to hover, not click, the class in the calendar. It's small but annoying.

Pros

It does have a lot of the necessary features you would need for a dance studio. Such as recital and costume orders.

Cons

You CANNOT just push a button and process all Tuition with one transaction. It is so time consuming to add in EVERY students posting of tuition then go back in there to process. If there was a way to save their info it would save so much time posting and processing. Also, the feature of registration is either all or nothing. I wish you could turn off registration for some of the classes. We do not charge registration for our adult classes but only our kids. And I always have confused adults because they think they are being charge registration. Please fix this.

It's great! I love the interface with the weekly calendar that can take me to ANY class quickly. Once I got used to its operation, JD was really easy to use. I wouldn't say that I'm a "power user" - I tend to use just the basic features... and these are working great for our small nonprofit ballet school.

Pros

Easy to use with tracking class attendance. Having an all-in-one platform payment works well, too. Customer service is terrific. I have had a few issues come up, and each time the support staff solved my problems well. Making a video to step me through the process of fixing my issues is great.

Cons

It's still confusing to me about Posting the fees and then the e-Payments. This is especially troublesome when a student registers for a class near the end of a month, and then the system will bill them for the remaining weeks in the month (that's fine) but also for the following month which has not started yet (that is ultra-confusing). Getting those duplicate postings NOT to charge is difficult at times.

Great sign-up interface, and I love that it auto-sends receipts.

I like that you can make newsletter templates directly on Jackrabbit to give a more professional look to your communication. Also, that you can look through all transactions and family history/

Cons

That parents cannot chose certain things to pay for on their account, they must pay the full balance at once.

I like how forgiving it is. It is very user friendly and meets all my needs.

Cons

I think it has a pretty steep learning curve. I feel comfortable using it, but my entire office staff doesn't. I know there is a lot of trainings and a great library of support topics. We just need to find the time to take advantage of them.

Pros

I like the way you can manage all your customers as well as how easy JR is to utilize. The customer support, if you need it, is essential! JR responds so quickly with friendly caring staff. Our system has never been down in all the years we have used JR.

Cons

The only negative thing about JR is my ability to learn everything they have to offer! When I do learn something new, I always ask myself, "What was I waiting on"

The parent portal and ease of use. The customer service is also fantastic and very quick to problem solve

Cons

The fees for credit card processing. The costume management and recital functions could integrate to be of better use. The costume management process is very tedious for little results.

We use it in our studio. It has everything we need from Student records to pricing. My teachers use it for attendance.

Pros

I do not use Jackrabbit to its full potential. We are a small studio. However the program helps keep my studio running and it is easy for the parents to access as well.
Once you learn to navigate the program you find more things it can do for us. It streamlines everything and puts it in one place

Cons

The set up process was time consuming at first. Everything takes time to do it right. But now, 12 years later it is easy.

Pros

I like everything is in one place. I appreciate being able to automate payments, prior to jackrabbit we used a manual system.

Cons

The complexity of the system it reminds me of android. I wish it was more user friendly like Apple. There are so many tabs and I wish all things related i.e. finances were easier to access.

The overall experience of Jackrabbit is fantastic! Even with some things that could be "better", the good far out weighs any improvements.

Pros

I really appreciate that JackRabbit takes the time to have consistent and updated features. I love that you can submit suggestions to make the software better and that the JackRabbit team pulls from that input to make updates. The reporting is something that makes a world of difference for us. We can use the information from reporting for so many different things. This is also the best software for large families with multiple students. My other experience is with MindBody and the family accounts are near impossible and a big hassle.

Cons

I think there are still some things Jackrabbit could improve on but they are small improvements and not major changes. I would love the emailing system to be more detailed and allow for more differentiation. It is a pretty basic HTML email system right now. We have started creating documents in Canva and then inserting as an image just to make the aesthetic better. This is now causing a problem because that means the email is tagged as spam. I would also love to see the Recital editor updated a little more. For example, I want to send an email from a recital or I want to be able to add an intermission without it being counted as a number.

Ease of use for class and student management.

Cons

The inability to structure our discounts as needed, causing me to have to manually enter them to each family each month.

The excessive cost to have the ability to sent mass texts. This should be a per text basis since its so occasionally.

The way our invoices look to clients, they are not easy to read and are often confusing even for me.

Pros

I love everything about JackRabbit! We are able to have everything in one program, from attendance to payroll. It helps us stay organized. It keeps us running efficiently and smooth. and did I mention how easy it is to use?!?!? What can I say this program has really been a game changer for our business and I would recommend it to any business owner!!!

Cons

I really don't have anything bad to say about the program. They are always coming up with new things and making things better. I love everything about the program and how simple it is to use.

Pros

It is easy to use on a daily basis. Love that there are so many connecting points for the multi use of the system between scheduling, posting tuition, payments, emails.

Cons

I think the technology and code can be more advanced to keep up with other registration platforms. Example: the basic ability to bring in html and auto-populate keywords like first name, class enrollment, etc.

Organizing all of our payments into one place for parents to see and track

Cons

The appointment function doesn't seem to provide all of the capabilities we would need in order to make it work to schedule our private lessons. We are having to do it manually right now through events which is very time consuming. I also don't love the trial lesson scheduling system and it's a lot of double checking and manual work. It doesn't seem automated or easy to follow up with.

It’s easy to use and set up is a breeze.

Cons

It’s a bit expensive and you can’t archive students only families so if you have 5 registered in a family but only one is active, you’re potentially paying for the non active registrants.

Pros

The Jackrabbit people listen, and they make changes to their software to match what they hear!

Cons

I believe every report from Families, Classes, and Transactions should include the Family and/or the Student ID. That way, I can combine reports and make a deeper analysis through MS Excel or MS Access.
