great customer service and support
Reviewed on 2017/11/13
Everything is online at the touch of a button. You do not have to be at the school to look up information.
Pros
I like that it is user friendly once you have been trained on how to use each module. I also like that parents can update certain information and that report cards can be sent out electronically.
Cons
Would be nice to have an online video on how to use the different modules for a teacher, a parent, and an admin. Like one video for each user that will train them in one session. The only other thing would be to make it possible for an admin to go in and view/change a parent, teacher, and student passwords when they get locked out or are just starting to use the program.

Good for what it does
Reviewed on 2021/02/15
The program has excellent resources, they are just very difficult to get to. The interface is not intuitive and there are far too many layers and drop down menus to make it quick to navigate until you really know what you are doing. Customer support has been excellent, which is a plus since we've definitely needed their help to find things we know the program can do but, again, they are not immediately evident in the top layer of menus, or take too many stops to accomplish.
Pros
It fits our budget, it has log-ins for parents, students, teachers, and administrators, customer support has been very good.
Cons
It has too many layers. It's not easy to find what you need, it's very intuitive. Sending an e-mail from a teacher to a group of parents is not easy- there are far too many steps involved. Once you create a list for an email, you cannot easy edit it or add people to it. Finding the information you are looking for as a parent is very difficult (assigments are hidden in a separate layer from the class and there is no easy way to figure out how to get there).

The learning curve would have been better if all aspects of use were available at the outset. Because we were apparently "guinea pigs", lots of issues had to be resolved as things were rolled out and caused a lot of bad feelings (report card and roll slip issues year 1) I have stuck with it and find it useful and a great resource to have everything in one place. On the elementary level, the scheduling module that was supposed to be available to the high schools is not relevant. Apparently, this has been a major sticking point for the AOP staff overall. After two years, it has done what we needed a new SIS system to do and would like to continue with it.
We LOVE the communications tools----makes emailing specific groups SO EASY. The bad service with School Reach last year gave lots of folks bad vibes--this year things have been much, much better. We have come a long way from our previous set up----which was a combination of 3 or 4 different systems.
For those without someone who is dedicated to finding out how it works, (which is probably frequent on the Elementary level), I can understand how they get frustrated. I just happen to like trying to figure it out and I have become the point person for our building to trouble shoot issues--and with Garrett's help, have been able to resolve them quickly. Garrett has been very patient and helpful and never hesitates to teach how to resolve issues----even if it takes me a couple times to learn it----I almost can think like a computer type prior to calling him to figure it out!
I would endorse continuation of MSP as our SIS system--but I am not the final decision maker---and financially, continuation will be the biggest factor.

The best year ever!
Reviewed on 2019/08/21
We have cut back on the amount of paper that we have generated with forms in the past. We no longer have to have notebooks in every classroom with student information. Several folks have gained lots of significant time back into their day because they are no longer answering the same questions over and over. Parents and Faculty are able to access the information on their own now.
The prospect and admissions module is easy to navigate through and has all the information in one places.
Pros
It was just the right fit for our school. Some of the other software had lots of modules that we would be paying for that we would never use. One of the best aspects of the software is the support team that comes with it. Even past our initial set up, they were there with continuous support.
Cons
Some things we were hoping for, parent teacher conferencing, wasn't there yet. We still have to use a third party to do this.

Over all, I personally get more and more efficient at using MSP and all it can do for us in running the front office of a school.
Pros
We like the convenience of having all the info at our fingertips. Being able to capture and run reports for parent and student data is fairly simply.
Cons
Report card system and teacher grade books are cumbersome. We hear lots of grumbling from faculty at grade time about MSP and difficulties with inputting grades and comments.

MSP for Elementary School
Reviewed on 2019/12/13
Pros
The front end applications are very user friendly.
Cons
Not all the modules interact with one another; data is inconsistent from one module to another. We initially had quite a few issues with report card templates -- corrections done for one quarter weren't carried over to templates for other quarters; inconsistencies with formatting, fonts, alignment, etc.; missing grades or comments. Inability to limit number of characters in comments fields for report cards. Once a new CSR was assigned to our account, we had fewer issues and the support has been excellent.

Our school has been using MSP since 2010. It is a wonderful tool for everyone to use - administration, teachers, students and parents. We are working diligently on utilizing all of the features that are available to us. There are so many reports available and it is a great way of communicating across the board. We have submitted suggestions for the site and they are always taken into consideration.
Pros
The fact that it is so user-friendly. No one has time to sit and try to figure out how a website functions. MSP is so easy to navigate for all users.

I like how flexible the program is. I can use it at work or at home, on my desktop or my cell phone. Also the custom reports are incredible. As an admin, I am able to find exactly what I need every time.
Cons
Certain functions you will need to call text support to fix. Like adding a family id after the family is already in the system Fortunately, the support staff is amazing and takes care of any issues I may have right away.

Pros
I like that you listen to what the customers need and can customize it to fit individual schools need. I also like the speed of tech support. It's also intuitive and easy to use.
Cons
I have a problem with a module/option being offered and then it doesn't work. I would like the lunch program to be faster and be able to send an email of the students balance directly to the parents.

I love that it calculates the quarterly grades for report cards. This makes it very easy to review and print report cards.
Cons
It takes a bit of time to create assignments and input grades, especially if I wait to do it at the end of the quarter. That means I have to keep clicking back to the previous quarter to access the assignment.

Pros
Customer Service is excellent. Every question I have is answered immediately. He is patient while walking me through things and he's thorough with his responses. Calls and emails are returned quickly. Although I have never met him, I feel like I know him and he knows our school and our needs.
There are endless reports that can be run for any specific need. For example, if I need to know all the boys who reside in Upper Dublin, who are parishioners of St. Alphonsus and are in 5th grade, I can run that report.
Cons
I wish there were more pre-defined reports. Because there are so many variables to choose from, it would be nice to have some basic report templates. Sometime the reports can be a bit cumbersome.
Can the health information be updated by parents? I think that is something that needs to be set up on our end. Ideally, I would like a complete information, accessible to our nurse and teachers and able to be updated by each family. That can probably be done, but I would need help.
