Prior to deploying Microsoft NAV 5.0 in 2008, our company was growing exponentially beyond the capability of our previous software solution provider - Exact Software (previously known as Macola), which included several external business flow processes that were being managed through spreadsheets, separate databases, and external add-on software. Beck Consulting has worked closely with Otis McAllister, Inc. for the past three years, offering solid, integrated solutions for our overall business process flow, including Trade Management, Electronic Data Interchange, Forecasting, Manufacturing, Accounting, and advanced analytical reporting through Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, not to mention the day-to-day operations associated with cost accounting, order entry, and inventory management.
Having suffered greatly through one failed implementation of Dynamics NAV with another vendor, Beck Consulting was quick to provide corrective fixes and supportive training. Over the next 2-1/2 years of a heavily phased implementation, each phase was professionally assessed, proposed, designed, tested, expert transfer of knowledge (training) applied, and appropriate support/maintenance has been provided every step of the way. Overall, running a global business is not an easy job; however, with the aid of Beck Consulting and Microsoft Dynamics NAV, the ease-of-use associated with day-to-day operations of our ERP system is never going to be easy, primarily due to the complexities associated with our very specific business flow processes... but those processes have been made much easier through our overall implementation. Seems to cater well to portable devices, drilldown visibility as well as ease of reporting capability.
Lack of control still seems to exist with NAV. While the program is easy to modify, that flexibility causes the system to not appear to be as robust as many other systems that I have utilized.
