The main thing was lost time. Since before guys had to wait to enter time into our office software we where not billing accurately but now that is history. And keeping a running group tally of time is soo helpful

Pros

I loved the timers, it made it so easy to go from task to task and keep track of all billable time without much effort. Just a click here and a click there as you go from task to task and done!

Cons

It took me awhile to get used to the flow but once you get it, you just get it! the guys love the fact they can record time from there phones and not have to remember to do so later.

Timing with Tick

Meh.

Meh.

Pros

it's easy to set up, find and edit projects.

Cons

I don't like that there are only a certain amount of Ticks available to use, I think i have 50, and I don't know if you can change that, since I'm just the end-user and not the purchaser. I also would like to have a pop out window to use, instead of constantly have to go back to the site to change, stop and start a project, very annoying.

Pros

Integration with Basecamp was pretty vital for our business. We had to find a way to track our hours and at the time BC didn't really have many good options. This solved that problem.

Cons

It is pretty difficult to import projects from BC into Tick. Once you figure out all the gotchas, it works. Not the best workflow though.

Great tool for easily tracking time and autofilling tasks that are recurring.

Pros

Ability to click and prefill a tick entry with a previously entered item so I don't have to re-enter everything. I also like that I can access my tick from various locations and they are all sync'd. So, starting a timer in one place shows up in another.

Cons

I'd prefer to enter time manually as 1:45 for an hour and 45 minutes instead of 1.75. Other than that, it's efficient for my needs.

Daily I load my hours worked for a special client, who pays us for hours and needs to see the detail of what actions we perform during that time.

Pros

Taking into account that it is a simple tool, time tracking is simple to do and adding hours only takes a few clicks. I like the possibility of changing the days in which to add the time used from tabs, access is much easier.

Cons

The view of hours charged per month seems a bit untidy and basic; when there is a need to have a monthly control over the tracked hours, the tool falls short and it is confusing to see the summary.

Simple time management

Reviewed on 2018/08/04

Pros

My job required some pretty detailed time tracking for up to 8 clients in a day. Tick made that easy. There is a "start a task"/"finished with a task" feature that I used occasionally but my work was mainly interrupt driven so manually entering the times worked better for me.

Cons

The Chrome extension has some strange behavior at times that make it lose your already-typed data. You have to *carefully* click on buttons to be sure they were actually clicked. Even so, I prefer the extension to using the web site.

My overall experience with the Tick software is that I am a bit underwhelmed with the general operation of it and also the design is very plain. No vibrant colors or unique features that really stand out for me. The look of the software just doesn't strike me as software that I would recommend to colleagues or to friends. It's just a bit too plain and boring.

Pros

What I liked most about using Tick software is just how well it organises my time for me. It literally counts down the amount of minutes it takes me to complete a task or how long I still have left over to finish up on a task that I am working on.

Cons

What I like least about Tick software is that while the first 30 days are free a monthly subscription after the free time trial has ended is a bit of a steep rate considering that Tick really is just a glorified clock ticking down the time just as your wristwatch does. Unfortunately I do not really see a lot of value for money in using Tick unless they can maybe add another feature to the software that could make it worth the almost twenty dollar a month price plan.

Tick lets us know how much time we are spending on each project and evaluate if that project is actually worth the resources we are putting toward it.

Pros

I really like Tick's simple system of keeping track of projects. Many project management apps are confusing and are too complicated and big. Tick let's you keep track of how long you need to spend on each project. It doesn't try and be more than what it is, and I really like the ability to start and stop a timer within the software.

Cons

There are some projects that I work on in Tick and it is hard to classify wear it belongs with Tick's organization. I wish I could tag a project and subproject in multiple locations.

I would recommend this software to anyone who has trouble remembering deadlines or staying on top of important tasks. However, if you can remind yourself in other ways it may save you some money.

Pros

I looked into this tool a couple years back when I really needed a tool to help me stay organized and on top of deadlines. Tick has come in handy so many times and has reminded me of so many things that I would have forgotten about.

Cons

This is a very lovely feature as time grew on I have become more computer savvy and realized I can set deadlines straight from outlook or through my calendar on my Iphone. It does make sense to have all reminders in one place and that i why we continue to use Tick.

Excellent tool for collaboration and planning

Reviewed on 2023/02/24

Pros

Tick - excellent service for interacting with the team and clients during photoshoots. As a photographer, I often use various props for shooting and work in a team with hairstylists, makeup artists, and retouchers. With Tick, we can easily plan and organize photoshoots, create tasks for the team, and track progress. It allows me to set deadlines for tasks and notify team members about events, necessary props, and the start time of the shoot. My clients can easily access the shooting schedule as well as agree on a convenient time and date for them. It significantly simplifies the process of planning and organizing work, allowing me to focus on executing the shooting idea and satisfying clients

Cons

For very complex projects or teams with a large number of participants, its functionality may seem limited due to the set of features that would be desired to have

I type in my time at the end of each day. I have never had any issues.

Reviewed on 2018/01/18

Pros

I almost always have the project name in my head - being able to autofill rather than browse keeps my mind from being interrupted. The same goes for the task - autofill beats browsing all the time, but it's great to know I have browsing were I to need it (1 time out of 20).

The way each entry saves in an inline container all on the same page has always been helpful. I take shorthand notes on paper throughout the day of my time rounded to the quarter hour. Seeing everything at once helps me to confirm I didn't miscalculate hours.

Cons

The fact that it could be a little bit more but probably can't be.

I'm a freelancer and use all kinds per studio. Tick achieves the time tracking capabilities I need at this office. As far as time tracking & reporting goes I find Harvest to be the best, you guys second. They're even simpler - at least on the the main level. You have them beat on the secondary level of autofill. If you wanted to be more than tracking & reports and included planning I think you could take down Liquid Planner & Mavenlink.

If you integrated the visual style and structure of Teamweek's horizontal timeline you might have a corner on the market. You could beat out Liquid Planner (too clunky and granular) & Mavenlink (not enough specificity).

I don't see the need to overreach into asset management. Basecamp is better than Liquid Planner for project asset tracking but more and more people are relying on Dropbox/Drive + a Google spreadsheet. Thus people might use you for time tracking, team scheduling, budget forecasting/reports - and then leave the asset management to the more agile Dropbox/Drive/Box world.

Tick has been a crucial find for me that helps me be more effective in my work and keep track of time seamlessly.

Pros

I use Tick daily to help monitor and track the time I spend on various projects. I do some freelance work that requires keeping track of hours worked on a project and would be lost without Tick. I love the plug-in for Google Chrome that enables me to easily start and stop the timer without opening another program or window. It's been a lifesaver!

Cons

If you want to have more functionality (additional projects, etc.) you may have to pay more for a plan with those features but it seems more than comparable with other software on the market.

Ease of use what I like the most, you can use it on web/mobile anywhere and be updated with the notification on the go.

Cons

Time tracking that we can't do anywhere else on our existing project systems.

Pros

Works on via the web as well as software installed on Mac or PC. For a company like ours who use a variety of browsers and operating systems, this seems to work the same for everyone. My preference is the web interface as it allows me to enter time as I'm doing it, ahead of time, or after the fact. I use the widget on the Mac side to provide regular reminders to log my time, which is the kick in the tush I usually need.

Cons

With a lot of projects on the account, it can take a while to switch from entering time into existing projects to editing that project or creating a new one. Doesn't integrate with our other project software (or we haven't tried to do so), so there's no detail to the projects...just a reference to log the time.

Tick is a great add-on for Basecamp. It provides an easy way to enter time for different projects. We use it in conjunction with Basecamp II. It is super easy to import your projects and add different tasks. i.e. For our projects, we assigned tasks such as Construction QC, Construction Engineering, Indirect Time, Meetings, PTO, Training, etc.
Easy user interfaces to select project, select task and enter the time completed. It also exports to excel in which it was easy to retrieve the data and add to pivot tables to graphically view where time is being spent.
It used to have a great timer app for the computer or cell phone but security concerns with Basecamp shut it down for Basecamp II. Not sure if it's been added to Basecamp III. Great value for up and coming businesses and with the export capability can prepare for bigger platforms.

Pros

Ease of use.

Cons

Needs the timer function back.

Thank you for reviewing Tick. We've added new phone apps and a Mac App to replace the old Adobe Air application.

We also rolled out Basecamp 3 support early this summer so you can track time inside Basecamp 3 if you ever decide to upgrade.

It's really important to understand, as a manager, how the team is doing and where is the most time being utilised in. Tick helps us stay productive and provides with insights which we incorporate in our future programs.

Over the course of the past 16 months or so that I have been using the software it has been very dependable. The feature that allows a user to pick tasks from previous jobs has been a big time saver during job set up. Tick is flexible enough to keep up with the varying needs of my large corporate as well as agency clients, each with their own unique way of keeping track of time. If you work with subcontractors, it's great being able to add and remove people on the fly without incurring additional charges. I chose this platform over others because the fees are based on the number of jobs, not the number of users. The more jobs you have in the system, the more you pay.

That being said $49 a month for more than 10 jobs per month does seem a bit high. That is the same amount I pay Adobe for their entire Creative Cloud. Think about all the R&D and decades that have gone into the full suite of Adobe products. I only pay Microsoft $10 per month.

But even at that price, I would still recommend it. I was on site at an agency and the creative director saw it on my computer and thought it was great.

Pros

Pricing based on Jobs. Picking up tasks from previous jobs. The desktop and iPhone apps.

Cons
