Column Case Investigative Review
The Column Case Management System is perfect to manage an investigation from start to finish. Anything related to an investigation is saved in Column. We don't even keep hard copies once the documents are saved in Column. The Journal entries tell the story of the investigation. We did a customization to request and generate subpoenas right from Column. What a time saver and once again, very user friendly.
Very user friendly. It is very easy for the investigators and auditors to keep track of everything that has been assigned to them and at any given time they can see just where things are at on a specific investigation.
At this time there is really nothing that I can say.
Overall usability and satisfaction
We use this application for our Non-IT Help Desks. Basically, if you're not the IT shop, you're using Column Case Management. It is the best suited application for this scenario. Many want to go the route of ITSM suite for this, but it's not optimal. ITSM suites align IT services with lines of business, which limits its use when only being used with a line of business.
This application is extremely robust. There's not much it can't do. Not to mention, if it can't do it OOTB, it can be customized (albeit at a cost) to do what you need it to. But, having said that, i think the biggest advantage Column has against most (if not all) of their competitors, is the use of Float/Concurrent licenses. this brings the overall yearly maintenance costs drastically down, as compared to their competition.
The customization aspect get get very pricey. Although I believe in later versions of the application, upgrades don't take additional customizations, in our situation currently, it will cost us additional money for us to upgrade so the same customizations remain in the latest version.
Case Management Implementation
The software helps us prioritize and manage various problems we have in our organization. The software has been implemented on the AR framework and integrates with BMC/Remedy to automatically create a case record for us to complete our investigation. Our investigation includes storing documentation and adding data to better quantify the issue.
Support in a large corporate environment--with different security, processes, and architecture--proves to be difficult. That said, Column IT appears to be receptive and committed to obtaining feedback and bettering their overall processes.
