Beware of Predatory Licensing

Pros

The monitoring and alerting features worked well and did what they promised. The UI is not the most intuitive, but it works once you get past that.

Cons

The company relies on abusive licensing terms to retain customers with a ridiculous policy that says you have to pay for 3 months of service after you tell them you want to cancel. They won't issue a waiver on this.A company confident in their tool should encourage retention through a great product and customer service, not using the fine print in their license agreement to lock you in.

It was very difficult to cancel. Most SAAS companies allow a user to cancel within 30 days and they can cancel on their own typically with a cancellation button or form within their account. I tried to cancel but they require you to send in a cancellation request which is not typical for a SAAS service. I put in my request and they informed me I was to continue to pay for 90 days upon request to cancel. They continued to bill me for the 90 days after the request which was very unethical. When I asked about most SAAS companies allowing a 30 day notice, and with nothing specifying this on their main webpages, they then presented me with the fine print in their TOS that it's required to continue to pay for 90 days after the cancellation request. I told them I would be happy to pay for the 30 days but not 90 so they threatened to turn my account over to their legal team and used threatening tactics to get the remaining 60 days. After many back and forth threatening emails I finally decided to just pay the unpaid invoices just to get them off my back. This company has very unethical practices and I wish I would have read other user reviews with the same issues. Stay far away from them.

Pros

Alerts are good when they work. You run out of credits quickly.

Cons

Expensive and support lacks. They use threatening tactics when you try to cancel.

All in all, this is good software. Helped us improve our online shops - with monitoring response times over time and comparing them between the stores.

Pros

That it simply works and provides reliable data. We use Slack a lot, so slack integration is a big plus. Ease of use - the entry level is not too high, so anyone can configure it at the basic level. Customer service is great also - people are kind and always willing to help.

Cons

Transaction monitoring is a little bit expensive for what it does.Configuration is simple but has its limitations. Yet for our use case, it is fine and working.

Pros

It pinged our web site every 5 minutes, and it was easy to use, but i'll never use it again.

Cons

We used this service for several years, and were never set up on Auto-Pay. My boss paid it using a credit card each year. Then she left, and when the rep couldn't get in touch with her, he switched our account to Auto Pay. If you're on Auto Pay, and you don't cancel within 90 days, they charge you for the whole year. I tried to dispute it, even messaged the reps boss and she didn't reply. They just sent us to collections.

Acceptable functionality, scammy business practices

Pros

It does its job of monitoring, albeit with a clunky 90s-era interface.

Cons

First, their UI makes it impossible to downgrade plans . You can only upgrade. Nice.

Then, their "month to month" billing is a scam. In the fine print, you have to give them 3 months' notice (!) Who does that...

And they conveniently interpreted "3 months" as "4 more payments". I.e., I cancelled in mid-June, and I'm charged at the end of June, the end of July, the end of August, and the end of September.

Great! Then... they don't stop charging your card even after the ridiculous 3 months have passed ... *Another* charge comes in at the end of October.

Don't fall for it like we did...

Use something else like dotcom-monitor.com (which is recommended in Google Page Speed docs) -- just anything else than these guys.

Pros

I especially appreciate the ability to monitor from multiple locations around the world. The alerts are timely and allow a prompt incident response. Also contains some very useful tools like measuring website performance.

Cons

I was never a fan of the interface, which looks kind of clunky and not very intuitive. It also takes quite some time to set up things properly to avoid alert fatigue.

Pros

The ability to within 10minutes setup tracking on our sites as been a life saver. We were always gettign complaints of our site being down and our team never could figure out why or by the time they looked it was back up.

Cons

Pricing is definitely enterprise level, they charge on a per credit basis. The learning curve is medium level difficulty maybe some better videos as an intro FAQ could help.

Pros

We are using Uptrends for a few years now and it gives us a lot of insights about uptime and speed from our most important flows of the website. Thereby it is realy easy to setup a new flow and notifications can be send in Slack also.

Cons

There are no cons for us with this tooling.

Very important software for us and easy to use. We get notifications as soon as our site is down or our payment process is not working. Test purchases are done every hour giving us good insight in speed of our website and uptime of our site.

Pros

With uptrends we are immediately informed if our website is down our services are not working. It is easy to use, very kind and helpful customer service who react quickly and professional to all your questions.

There is nothing that I can think off that I do not like about this software.

It is easy to use. Scenarios are easily created and managed. It also covers the possibility to monitor the entire end-to-end solution

Cons

I think the user management part can be improved. Next to that, the timeframes to monitor are not easily defined and implemented. Sometimes you just want to snooze your alerting (not your monitoring).

Pros

Uptrends provides monitoring from several locations across the world for uptime and performance and provides us the full insight on availability and identify any trends that may occur.The Uptrends portal is easy to navigate and to configure including dashboards and reporting.

Cons

It would be great if we could difference between planned outage vs. downtime or if we could include it as part of our automation so the specific base monitor is disabled for alerts during the planned maintenance.

Pros

Uptrends capabilities to monitor performance are great, it allows you to get detailed information on full page load times, transactions, API and uptime, using multiple sites all over the world and giving you a real user performance experience.
The reports are excellent, same as seeing the information you get on lighthouse plus the information you will get on the network tab of your dev tools.
You also get a daily report and have 2 sets of alerts for each monitor to define a yellow and red threshold.
The monitors are really easy to set up and have them running in no time.

Cons

The transaction monitors are a bit pricey but given the functionality, they are worth paying.
