Great meeting recording software

Pros

Overall the thing I like most about Gong is how easy it is to review my recorded meetings and know exactly when I speak or the client speaks. The analytics is great! The ease of the integration is zoom is also really good.

Makes me more efficient in my day to day

Pros

Call record, call grading, etc. Call recording is most helpful for me as I often am unable to take notes in real time, so I listen to my calls afterwards and can take the proper notes, document action items, follow ups, etc.

Cons

I really can't think of anything! I personally use Gong.io most commonly for call recordings

Gong is great for sales, but not the best for startups

Gong leaves you alone to do your work after you sign up and they don't market too heavily post signup which is fantastic!

We currently use Gong to do three things:
- Record user interviews from our product team
- Record introductory calls with prospective clients (we don't have any follow-up calls since our service is transactional)
- Facilitate coaching of our team since our service is coaching based on zoom

Pros

The major thing for our team is unlimited transcription and having a transcription quality that is good enough. Our team benchmarked the software against Google and AWS, and we found out that Gong uses their proprietary transcription software. And it looks like Gong's transcription software has been trained mainly on meeting recordings (zoom) and on telephone calls.

We also love the video playback feature in Gong is enjoyable to use. They have features like highlighting works as the speaker talks, seeing each speaker's talk tracks below the player, speed control up to 2.5x for the playback, and a way to minimize the video view to the bottom right of the screen.

Cons

I hate the way gong displays upcoming calls. It's a pain to navigate, and there are no additional details on the upcoming calls. You would think Gong would show the meeting details, especially when you're working with your team and organization, but they don't!

Another frustrating thing we found out after signing up was that all our historical recorded calls were not assigned a speaker. Gong does not allow you to assign speakers to calls that you upload to their system. It will automatically assign the speakers as "Phone caller #1" / #2 / #3, etc. All recorded calls before you start using Gong, and any call the Gong recorder does not join (happens a lot) will not be assigned to a team member.

It has been an excellent addition to our product management stack. Having the ability to connect with different systems for virtual calls it's really helpful. The UX of the product is great.

Pros

In our customer-centric approach listen to our customers it's religious. I really like the ability to quickly identify who is talking in the conversation, general areas and interact with my coworkers based on the findings for every call.

Cons

This is a great tool but kinda expensive compared with other similar tools. You should consider your budget first before making the decision. If you can afford it, it will pay the price.

I love being able to record my calls and review the audio or transcript to ensure I'm picking up all the important information on the calls

Cons

I haven't really found anything I don't like. There is a process to learn all of the functionality. I think the thing I like least is I don't yet know how to fully take advantage of all its' features.

Essential tool for Customer Marketing

Pros

I've used Gong in various roles, from Sales to Marketing and have always found it incredibly helpful. Back when I was in Sales I used it for call recording and then later to listen back for training purposes. Now, in marketing I use it to record case study calls with clients. I can then get transcripts from the call that are easy to write up. Much better/more accurate transcriptions than other softwares as well.

Cons

It can be glitchy. Added the add-on to my outlook to send a Gong invite with any zoom invites and it works sporadically.

Pros

As an individual contributor, I can't think of another piece of software our team has brought on that is more valuable to me than Gong (excluding the table-stakes Salesforce or Slack type stuff). Gong is my insurance policy when my notes don't capture everything and I need to relisten to a call before the next stage meeting. Gong gives me insight into the quality of a conversation based on the metrics it provides (how long did I spend talking in comparison to the prospect? What does that say about the pitch, or this customer fit?) Gong is also invaluable to our new team members (across many teams, not just sales) who want to get exposed to customer and prospect conversations fast, and on-demand. The interface isn't the prettiest but is easy enough to navigate, and I love being able to speed up calls 1-2X speed in .25 increments. The call transcript search is handy when I want to find a specific thing I remember discussing on a call. I like that Gong provides industry benchmarks for the metrics it measures.

Cons

Having Gong has made me a little bit more of a careless notetaker, because I know Gong is my insurance policy. At times this has burned me if some Zoom difficulty means the call doesn't get properly recorded because the Gong bot didn't get invited. If there are better categorization methods for calls, our team isn't using them. But it may be helpful to be able to quickly designate calls by type (prospect vs current customer) and use case / vertical (eCommerce vs SaaS for example). Salesforce data is pulled into Gong so maybe there's a way we just aren't utilizing.

Simple Tool to capture details of complex deals

It was easy for our team to onboard and deploy. We use it daily and commonly share outcalls with internal members or external directly to customers. It has changed my workflow from taking notes to directly engaging and moving through my agenda.

Pros

We work with clients that have complex systems, requirements and require attention to the smallest of detail. The sales cycle is long and can involve many team members from both the client's company and our agency. I like how Gong helps keep the records organized, allows my extended team to add notes and comments to calls, and keeps transcriptions that we can refrence back to (searchable) to ensure we did not miss any details.

Cons

I wish it had more integrations with different CRM's, but Gong is not at fault, just a desire for utopia.

Pros

Gong helps us constantly improve! What I like most is being able to have all of our team's calls analyzed for key metrics like engagement, talk ratio, and the AI driven feedback. This enables us to easily review so we can quickly share feedback, score calls, help our team take more action. It's very user friendly.

Cons

There's not much I would add here, because the Gong team is always adding new features and using data to think about what sales teams can truly benefit from. They just recently opened up the Gong community which is something I've been waiting for!

It's been really great, I would highly recommend - especially if you have a newer team/newer team members/technically heavy calls.

Pros

Allows our team to easily share specifics, we have complex sales cycles that are technical in nature. Gong allows us to record discovery sessions and then share internally with other resources that need to be brought in - really ensures nothing slips through the cracks.

Cons

We have yet to find a solution to cutting up clips from several calls and putting them together for training purposes. Might be that we have yet to find the time to discover that feature.

Pros

You need Gong.io if your job involves listening to clients' issues and requests over the telephone, especially if you spend so much time doing this you don't have the capacity for precise note-taking. Listen to the chat again and read the transcript. Gong.io allows you to do all of this in one place. Gong.io's search capabilities make it easy to locate certain areas of discussion. it's wonderful that calls are categorized so that they include information like the customer's name, who spoke to him and what the subject was, and the time and date of their call, as well as the full conversation.

Cons

Recording features are great, but transcription processes can be inaccurate because conversations often contain slang words or from other languages and always need human review, which is sometimes distracting.

Pros

Gong gives you the ability to empower salespeople to be more efficient, master their calls, self evaluate their performance, and create archives of masterful calls.

Cons

Sometimes the software won't join a scheduled call via Calendly, but can likely be solved with better integrations.

Its a solid product and our Sales Ops team have seen immediate value from a coaching and training perspective and the sales staff are finally seeing the value in reviewing their sales calls with better context. As I mentioned earlier, it helps me in my role to engage more quickly and bring value faster to the sales cycle.

Pros

I am not a front line sales person, rather I am a strategic resource that the sales team leans on when meeting with a prospect's executives and other leaders during the sales process.

When they are ready for me to engage, they can send me a call recording and I can see who is talking, what they are talking about and make specific notes based on discussion topics. It empowers me to get up to speed with a new prospect much faster than in the past, which in turn keeps momentum and excitement in the sales process.

Cons

It wasn't introduced to our sales org with a very clear "why" we need to use Gong. So immediately it created a misperception that leadership bought it as an employee watchdog which led to poor adoption. It didn't help that it was introduced as a stiff mandate from leadership to use Gong.

In short, no complaints with the software, but more of a warning for new Gong users to make sure you tell your users the benefits that THEY will get out of Gong and the benefits the extended teams will gain from their use of Gong.

I am a raving fan. I don't know if I've ever really been a raving fan of a tool, besides the company I work at (Copper CRM!). I love their UI, their marketing emails which are NOT annoying (how?!?!), and their friendly support team. But mostly- this incredible tool allows me to become a better salesperson. Faster.

Pros

So novel. Yes, other demo softwares allow you to get insights. But Gong takes it to a whole different level. The tips are a prime example of artificial intelligence of the future. I can see exactly what I need to improve immediately after a call- and I check after each one. I set realistic goals that I can actually measure based on recommended best practices that are outlined to me from research that Gong makes available to me- average amount of patience, interactivity, and more that's necessary for a successful sales call.

Cons

The only thing I would change is that I'd like to be able to search more words within demos I've completed. The search functionality is already incredible, as it can pinpoint certain filler words and I can search a variety of terms. If it could capture more, which it likely will as they progress, I'd be thrilled.

Gong is a salesperson's dream

Pros

It's so important to identify your prospects needs, but it can be difficult to absorb everything they are relaying. Having access to a tool like gong, gives me the ability to revisit my calls, dissect my prospect's responses and identify their needs. Gong makes this easier by filtering by keyword, offering graphs so you can click into specific parts of each call, compiles key words used throughout and gives my co-workers a place to listen and make suggestions.

Cons

I haven't found anything negative when using gong.

Pros

Gong is awesome! It allows every call to be recorded, analyzed and sent to the correct people. Gong allows managers to make comments on specific parts of the calls, speed up or slow down the pace and send feedback to the reps. One of the coolest parts about Gong is how the platform analyzes each call, letting the manager and caller know how much he/she talks compared to the customer/prospect, what topics were discussed, and even what words you are repeating many times.

Cons

I think that the only thing that could be considered negative about Gong is that anyone at your company can listen to the call/recording

Pros

In my opinion, this product is KEY for success in sales. I enjoy listening back to my sales calls in order to analyze and better myself. I also find the deals feature incredibly useful as it helps me keep track of my pipeline. Overall, 5* product and would recommend to any organization.

Cons

At first, I did find the software confusing to understand. However, this was partly due to how many features there are on the software so it just took a little while to get used to. Now, I fully understand all functions and use them daily.
