I LOVE IT!
I LOVE IT!
Pros
The customer service here is one that can not be matched anywhere else. For me, this is the most important feature any platform that I use needs to have.
Cons
I'm not a furniture stager, which I believe this platform was originally intended for, therefore some of the features are not so as easy to use like if I would have been. For example, I would prefer to see a manufactures tearsheet/ installation guide added to the individual items as opposed to only being added to the attachments. Another great feature would be to have folders within the attachment tab etc - small tweaks. What truly makes this product so unique is, I can raise these ideas to any of their representatives and they will work with me to figure out how ether to work around their system to support my needs or perhaps they would add it into their next featured update.

Pros
The most impactful aspect of Design files is the download ability of vendors items and being able to drop them in the project.
Cons
I like the distortion button but the final look of the 2D design looks squatty and strange.

A design friend turned me on to DF and I couldn't have been more thankful. Using DF has been a great tool for my business. Prior to this I was using Photoshop, which works, but took SO much more time. I'm still evolving my processes and trying to make things faster and easier, which DF has helped in that. I don't know if I totally love the invoicing and purchasing, but I use it because it's all in one place; I'm sure that will evolve with time as DF gets feedback from customers. I do appreciate how much they do take customer thoughts into consideration!
Pros
Mood board & floor planner are easy to use, there are some quirks/inconveniences that could be addressed. Lots of features like invoicing, purchasing, time tracker, etc., are nice to have integrated in the program and are easy to share with clients. Lots of well known retail companies' products are included in the software which is a huge plus and saves time from clipping. Although, I've noticed some current products aren't updated within the program.
Cons
There are a few quirks that could be addressed. One being that the mood board allows using the delete button to remove items, but the floor planner does not. You have to click an item and then hit the trash button. This may seem insignificant, but actually is clunky and bogs you down when someone like me works fairly quickly. Plus, if you use both types of boards, not having the same functionality can be quite frustrating. A couple larger issues I have is 1.) not being able to track projects in one place. It takes too much time to go into each project to track work. Not only should you be able to see it under each project, but once created, you should be able to go under a main "Track Projects" tab and see ALL your projects at once. This would be invaluable I would think and feels more organized and intuitive. 2.) I wish you could select multiple items to be able to move them around together! Huge pain point for me. 3.) I would love to be able to go to "Financials" and create Invoices and POs there. There are days when I'd like to sit down and do all my invoicing or purchasing and, again, it would be nice to not have to go back and forth to each project. 4.) not a huge con per se, but being more of a kitchen/bath designer, I'd love more options here, but I might have to find other software for this.

I use it every day and for all of my clients - it's my mode of sharing information, exchanging comments with clients, tracking revisions. It has been a valuable asset as I've started my new business.
Pros
The ability to clip products from the web and capture the dimensions and information then save it into your own library has been a game changer for me. Now shopping lists are just a push of a button away - so much time saved! I also love that my clients can view, comment and share my design boards and floor plans easily in an environment that is polished and professional looking. The ability to generate quotes and invoices has also been so valuable - I'm just starting my business and the level of financial functionality is just right for a small company. Integration with my existing processes was easy, and my clients love it. And the customer service has been great through their Facebook page - they are always improving the system and really listen to us!
Cons
Time tracking is new and still has room for more sophistication. Design board creation is a bit clunky - removing backgrounds can be frustrating, adding text isn't as intuitive as it could be. Weak with CRM, project management and task tracking.

Overall, I can say that I am managing about one third more projects than before in the same time. Which is incredible! The longer I use the software, the more I feel I'm getting quicker. I may get to the point where I doubled my productivity!
Pros
What I love the most is the Web Clipper, it makes my life so much easier and I don't have to save and download thousand of pictures in my computer. It allows me to have a full library of products, whether I use them every day or just once, where I can keep all the related notes and pictures as well.
I also really like the fact that while creating a mood board I am also creating a price list, so that I don't have to repeat all the work.
Cons
I am a new user, therefore I may have not discovered some of the features that allow me to customize my templates fully - though, I think there should be a possibility to format the description and notes fields in Quotes/Invoices/POs. Sometimes the text in there is so extensive that I would like to split it into paragraphs, or make some words bold or italics. I have to shorten the text for it not to get overwhelming, having to sacrifice info that may be important.

DesignFiles has saved me so much time in my process. Searching and saving products is so much easier and my clients love the mood boards and the simplicity of approving items. I think there is a lot of opportunity for improvement, but that's exciting. I look forward to growing my business with DesignFiles as it grows.
As an added note, before I changed careers to design I was a product manager for online software. If you are ever looking for beta testers with QA experience I would be happy to give feedback :)
Pros
Very easy to use, not overly complex for my needs. My clients like how easy it is to approve and reject products. The web clipper is great and I love how easy it is to go from mood board to quote to invoice etc.
Cons
The lack of customization options. I would love to add notes to a product that are private to me (ie. somewhere I can put the MSRP or MAP, estimated restock or whatever that can be hidden from the client view). I would also love more control over what is visible/hidden to clients (like hide the brand name, but keep the description). I understand this works for e-design where clients would be doing all the purchasing, but is not great when I'm specifying from trade sources (I've had to delete the brand name entirely so that I can keep the description). I would also love to be able to include the shipping costs in the product details so I don't have to keep looking them up when we get to the proposal time. It would also be great to have the ability to customize the templates for things like the design presentation PDF (the products take up so much space on the page!) or the tear sheets (multiple images, description with line breaks) but it works right now and I think this would be the lowest priority to me. For some clients I end up exporting the mood board image only, adding it to a canva file with my nice layout and presenting the products in the quote format. It's a work around but it's still faster than my old way.
Reasons for Choosing DesignFiles
I was part of the Flowhaus beta program and while it had a lot of the customization features and a very robust system for saving notes on products, it was really missing the web clipper. Once I tried DesignFiles it really checked every box for me.Reasons for Switching to DesignFiles
Studio Designer was another one that was not listed above. Ultimately I felt all the other software programs were really focused on large-scale businesses with epic renovaitons and mutliple team members. I work on my own and am mainly specifying decorating and e-design projects so they were over-engineered for my business. I do find I need a project management tool in addition to DesignFiles (right now I'm using Honeybook but I hate it) to help me keep track of leads, project stages, workflows and tasks.- Industry: Design

It has only been a few days. Okay so far. Lacking many features still. Would pay more if they could meet needs.
Pros
Design files is easy to use. Love the video tutorials.
Cons
The time tracker can't be coded for different office tasks and there are not reporting features to analyze time. It is not easy to see the markup/profit on a job in the client files. There needs to be a room tag in the product line to show where the item is going. Design files works if you are designing (1) room, but what about a 7,000 SF home. Would love to be able to group line items (ie: all the parts to a window treatment order) so the client only sees one line item.

Great customer service and enjoyable software to use.
Pros
Love the shop it options and approve tab for clients. Love the boards being able to be sent with all items listed. Clients usually quite impressed with this feature.
Cons
Biggest issue is the quality of graphics when boards are printed out. Lets the software down from a professional perspective !!!!
Client not being able to approve item when it is to be purchased by them!!!
Having to go back to app every single time I finish something on a board....the questionnaire not having the ability to customise per project....not having a timer option per project to keep track of hours......... having to resend ALL boards when changes are made on just one or two??? Very confusing to keep track for the client and myself.....I had a huge issue with one board that ended up being sent to a client without me even knowing???!! I made a comment on one item and it went directly to the client before I had even approved it being shared???
Paint colours should be saved from last viewed so we dont have to search for same colours everytime
Issues when trying to upload own photos to library......
Quikcbooks still not syncing even when problem was attempted to be rectified ..... no idea what to do

I find the program overall, just okay. Great for mood boards, as I have more control over what I can add and how I can display things, but in terms of renders, I find it to be mediocre and may have to eventually switch from DF to something else more substantial.
Pros
I love the questionnaire portion best as its very detailed and clients love it; also that there is the ability to engage with clients directly through the program.
Cons
I really wish the floor plans had the capability of having more detail added; sliding closet doors, built-in closets and cabinetry, etc. Also, exact precise measurements - I don't like that I have to round up or down on measurements, thus making a render not exactly to scale and more of a ball-park.
I also really wish the floor plan product catalogue, flooring options, pain colours, etc. had MANY more options, not just generic - it makes the 3D option essential useless for me to use to show my clients.

Overall I am having a good experience. The one thing that still catches me up is if you use the delete key in the floor plan modes instead of the delete option once selected the whole board doesn't run and I have to ask for assistance to get it back. It took me a bit to realize what I was doing wrong. This doesn't happen in the mood board side so if you are going back and fourth from the 2 its easy to make this mistake.
Pros
The ability to create a beautiful design and simultaneously create a budget in the background. The ease of using the boards that are presented to communicated not only the design to the client but feedback from the client on likes and deslikes

It has been a fantastic experience. The fact that there are now libraries from vendors I use frequently helps to save me time trying to find images and download them to my computer in order to upload them to the program. Same with Paint color libraries. The Add to Design Files bookmark tab is incredible and a genius tool that I have never seen with any other program. If you haven't seen what it is, you can view helpful videos. Again, customer service has been incredible and two of the reps are great at walking you through steps and getting back with you instantly, especially using the messaging dialog box in the program. If I had to rate my experience out of 10 with 10 being the best, my experience would be a 100.
Pros
It's easy to use, gives great perspective and gets the point across to clients. The greatest tool to use for quick changes and edits to client ideas and spaces. I have used many programs and this one eliminates all headaches from other programs that seem to be way too advanced when all you need is to display ideas. Great for pricing and itemizing client projects. I will never use any other product. I used Olioboard religiously and this program is Olio on steroids and anyone can use it! Saying I love this program is an understatement and the creators, take time to train everyone and answer any questions one might have. Best customer service ever.
Cons
There are very few things I do not like because the program has been updated so much but the fact that I cannot duplicate items using keyboard shortcuts can sometimes slow me down but there is a duplicate button so I shouldn't complain. I wish we could crop color swatches for creating half walls and such, but then again, you can use the adjust tool to skew the shapes. There really isn't a lot that hinders me in creating a project.

It's a huge bonus to provide my clients 24/7 online access to review designs, make comments and, soon, issue payment - especially being here in San Francisco which is a very fast, super digitized city. In my website content, I am adding and promoting these features as a value added benefit of why to work with me!
Pros
Great user interface and customizable platform for my interiors business. I am able to leverage a powerful online platform for my clients 24/7 access and it's gives me a great service edge. I feel very personally well acquainted with this platform due to the accessibility of customer support and simple, easy to understand tutorials. The support staff is approachable and super informative. Having the Facebook group is helpful as interior designers always need a professional forum to chat about this adventurous E -Design business model!
Cons
There is not too much I don't like as it offers me alot of creative freedom and informs my design process in an intuitive way to build great design packages for my clients. From the financials side, functionality is a big topic however. Simple online payments will be convenient. Working my mark up and design fee into the pricing structure is also helpful. However I understand DF is not an accounting platform. I have worked extensively with Studio Webware and probably will continue to for more in depth billing breakdowns. For instance, SW is effective when specifying custom items with multiple components like fabric, trim, fabrication, etc and being able to bundle the pricing into one line item price for clients to see. Having this sort of custom item function might be a great add-in. Obviously, SW is required for revenue tracking and tax reporting purposes. The stuff designers hate to do but must understand. I have researched most, if not all interior design software extensively and still don't know one program that does it all....

though customer service is wonderful, I just don't "get" Design Files, so my experience has been absolutely horrible. The way it's set up just makes zero sense to me. I wish there were a guide to "best practices" to using it.
Pros
the billing is fairly straightforward
There are a lot of tutorial videos
Cons
The design tools are way too difficult to use. The videos assume a plain square room and caters to e-design projects where you are using very easy to find models.
The questionnaire feature isn't easy to use either, as you can only have one and any otehrs you create have to be shared outside the software with a link.
I hate that you can't communicate with your clients easily until you have created a project.
I hate that there is no place to store leads without creating a "project"
I hate that you can't have a project with different rooms, but you have to sort of create a whole project for each room. It's very unintuitive.
I have been nothing but frustrated and disappointed with DF. I really wish I hadn't made the switch.

Cons
I don't like that clients have to create logins. I'd prefer giving them a specific URL.
Hopefully, this makes sense but when adding an item/product to the board and need to fade the background, I'd like to be able to use the fade the background and then clean it up even more using the manual background feature. Currently, you have to choose either or, but combining them would be make it even easer.
I'd like enhanced client presentation features, such as ability to customize how to present the design boards. The ability to make changes or move items in the client view or presentation mode.

So far my experience has been very good and any questions I had were answered and resolved in short order. Customer service experience has always been friendly, polite, and above and beyond. Also, received follow up emails to ask if my question/s or need was solved or if I needed further assistance. I was also offered a one on one in the beginning to get things going in my account as I was very busy at the time and couldn't waste time on the learning curve. Wasn't expecting such support even though there are many self-help videos in their system.
Pros
Ease of creating all aspects of creating the client file from design board, price lists, messaging.
Cons
#1. The "Packages" page format could look more professional from a client standpoint. Optional fonts, layout, etc. Profile picture banner hides quality of the photo/picture behind it--too grayed over. Would like to see the "packages" boxes in wider format so we can "list/bullet" as well as description of said project would read better in wider version format.
#2. Need an option to "Close Out" a project when we've finished what the client needs. (They / we should be able to still SEE the project details, but clients can no longer message us within that project. Without closure the client project has no boundaries.
#3. Ability to have our stationary (biz name, info, project, etc;) not have to be added to each and every new client project. But one we can cookie cut and adjust when/if needed. (Although that might already exist and I haven't utilized that feature.)

Overall, it's been great. I look forward to using Design Files more often with every new feature!
Pros
I can't speak for all of the features, as I only require a few for my work, but I love the Design Boards, Shopping lists, Questionaire, and Tracker features. One of the best things about Design Files is customer service. Truly the best I have ever encountered across all fields. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is friendly, helpful, and extremely accommodating of any requests from us designers. And [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] is great too, I truly believe her when she says she cares about our user experience, it's not just talk like with other service companies...
Cons
It's not great that we have to set our currency in settings across the board. I would like the ability to set currency per project, as I am often jumping between Euro and CHF depending on the client. It would also be nice to be able to add 3d models of furniture I'm proposing into the floorplan feature. I use another program for my floorplans mainly for that reason... It would also be great if the 3d models could be linked to the product catalogue so that a shopping list could be generated directly from a floorplan.

It‘s a very helpful tool in my life and seriously I don’t know any software which is so useful for me. I seriously use it every single day and am so I ceredibly happy that I found it! Thank you so much!
Pros
The software saves me such a great amount of time. It’s incredible. I am always searching for selected items for my client and thanks the product clipper I can just add the items I browsed into my library and it‘s saved. And thanks to the tags I can always find it again. I also use the software a lot to prepare 3D boards. It’s so much fan and is soooo easy.
Cons
The only thing which is missing for me is that I am from Germany and I can‘t get the side or presentation I download as a pdf in German . I always need to translate my pdf file afterwards.

As an early adopter of Design Files, it has become an indelible tool for my business that I must always have in my arsenal of interior design; Design Files helps me communicate my ideas and show my clients the beauty of a design presentation. It helps my clients envision their living spaces like no other platform can.
Design Files is so impressive as it continues to develop new and better tools to help the interior design industry. It is a vibrant platform that continually improves itself, and through that, Design Files makes me a better designer.
Pros
Design Files is very intuitive and it is very easy to use. Don't let that fool you as the program is very robust and can go deeper as it allows you to save and categorize item selection from my computer as from the web using a web-clipper.
Cons
I am not sure if I actually have any complaints because whenever I reach out to customer support asking how would I do xyz, they always seem to answer with an update to the software that helps me achieve what I am looking for. Design Files saves my wholesale costs, let's me markup to the client price, hide pricing to the client if I want to do that, save and catalogue not only the program's library but add items from my own library - which is all on top of the obvious benefits of the platform.
