MoveSpring misses the mark for group competition

Pros

The Android client was easy to setup and sync with my existing Fitbit account. The mobile app was reliable syncing and my individual stats are clearly shown.

Cons

My biggest gripes about this service revolved around viewing data from other members of the step competition we were doing. Since we were doing a total step competition it felt like a huge piece of information was missing by not being able to see everyone's total count. You are only able to see a limited view of the users near your own total step count, even from the website. I also thought the UI for navigating to see the group stats was tedious and felt unintuitive buried in menus.

Thank you for your feedback, Joseph! Glad to hear that setup and syncing went smoothly. We've since added a Friends feature, which allows you to see daily totals and where you stand amongst your friends. You'll also notice a few updates to navigation and module structure to be more intuitive and user friendly. Lastly, we've communicated with your admin around the importance of adding in an individual leaderboard module to every challenge so you can see where everyone stands based on total steps. This should do the trick.

Good app for keeping track of steps company wide

Use it for our "fit" programs

Pros

Ease of getting set up, lederboards, chat functions, can also set up teams

Cons

Feels like a first gen product could be more visually appealing, also syncing has issues off and on

Accomplish Group Goals!

Pros

I used this app when I went to a professional conference for physical therapists. We set a conference-wide goal of accomplishing a certain number of steps during the days the conference was in session, with the intention of making a charitable donation if our goal was met. We met our goal well before the conference was over, but it was an incredibly effective way to get thousands of people moving together and and an even more effective way to help others! It also showcased individuals who had the highest step counts, but most impressively, it was really neat to see so many people get involved in a cause!

Public University Walking Challenge

Over the past two years, I have seen a good amount of UI updates and I hope to see more, which include accessibility features. The team has also listened and worked at improving the overall software based on our own and our user feedback.

Pros

What I liked most about the MoveSpring software is that the content modules have customizable templates. We created quite a few scheduled content modules for our challenge and it was very straightforward and easy to schedule and edit. The templates help with content creation to get you started with adding more engagement to your challenge.

Cons

What I least liked most about the MoveSpring software is some of the nomenclatures. For example, the words 'group' and 'team' were referenced interchangeably by participants. They couldn't figure out how to join the group even though they were already in the group but actually meant that they couldn't figure out how to join a team.

You can also look forward to content Collections, which will allow you to pick a topic and we'll schedule out content throughout your challenge. The nomenclature was a bit confusing, wasn't it? Good news being that we updated our app to replace the word Groups with Challenges. That should do the trick to make the distinction between challenges and teams easier for all users. Thanks again!

Awesome for tracking and comparing activity levels with others

Great experience- loved being able to visually see how I stacked up against others in my area.

Pros

I used this app as part of a local walking challenge. I loved that I could compare my step count and kms to others, enter new challenges, and chat with others engaged in the challenge. The graphics and "badges" made it fun as well.

Cons

Sometimes I would get stuck on a screen and have to reload the app but otherwise it worked fine. This could have been due to my slow internet, though. I also wished it has more options for syncing to my fitness tracker watch as I had to manually enter each day since it didn't recognize mine.

Used MoveSpring for a 100 person step challenge!

MoveSpring was a great platform and we will definitely be using it again!

Pros

MoveSpring was great for such a large group of people participating in 1 month challenge. It was really easy to on-board people into the group making our participation rate higher then expected. Managing the challenge from the backend of MoveSpring was incredible - we could download daily reports to manipulate the data we needed and the clean clear graphics MoveSpring produced were great for demonstration purposes. This saved so much time and allowed us to tally different statistics.

From a user perspective MoveSpring was easy to use, allowed for a group conversation using the chat feature and had fun challenges (streak, globetrotter) to follow along with.

Cons

A few users found that they every time they opened the MoveSpring App they had to reconnect their device which was annoying and frustrating.

We were doing a 10,000 steps a day challenge but there was no where to follow along with how many steps people were taking on that day unless you clicked directly into their profile. Users would have preferred to have seen the step counts for the day, each day, to be able to follow along.

Unless the user was actively engaged in the challenge they had no reason to log into MoveSpring, which means their devices didn't connect. This was frustrating for our Administrator who had to constantly remind people to log into the MoveSpring app. A daily reminder for users from the app would have been a great way to solve for this.

Great Wellness Platform!

Our employees love MoveSpring! It's easy to use, allows manual entry (since many don't have a device to sync), and allows us to personalize the challenges to meet our needs.

Pros

This platform is so easy to use. What makes it better is the WONDERFUL customer service! Training was available to us and they made sure we were comfortable with the product before launching our first challenge.

Cons

I really don't have any dislikes. Customer Service has been so receptive to all our questions, especially Representative!
