Why I live in notion on a daily basis

I live in my notion database as an independent consultant, using it for tasks, meeting notes, second brain database and heaps more. It took me about 6 months to really find my feet but once it clicked, the capability has been super impressive. The community support around the product is fantastic, and the ability to buy templates makes up for the steeper learning curve if you are having trouble getting started.
Pros
Flexibility to create what you need. The AI tool is a game changer as far as recalling info within your database.
Cons
It does have a steep learning curve, although there is training available, and heaps of resources online, it still takes some time to get your head around it if you have not used a system like this before.

Overall, Notion is one of my favorite apps as a small business owner. They are constantly updating it with new features, and the version that I use is even free. Notion saves me time and money every single day!
Pros
Notion is such a robust software. There are SO many things that you can do within it. It eliminated my need for several other apps, and even saved me money in being able to cancel them.
Cons

For me it is not a professional tool because it is very slow as I said before and the support is very bad.
I have actually a big bug which exist since 2 years and Notion support don't help me about it.
My bug is:
I have 2 databases and 1 column to make some "Relation" between them. It was working perfectly before but some day Notion made some update and since this day, In my "Relation" column, it does not suggest anymore the datas that I have in another table.
I reported this issue and the support team ignores this.
Notion has a lot of limited features for FREE accounts like automations, file upload limit or inviting some family member.
Pros
The ability to create databases quickly to store informations instead of using Excel for example.
Cons
Notion is EXTREMELY slow if you are using it to store a lot of data like 2000+ pages
The support, it is very very very VERY difficult to get some one AND it is EXTREMELY difficult to report a bug.
Each time we report a bug or something like this, the support is like a robot, they ask ALWAYS the same questions like "What is your device please?" even if I precise it before and I say it is the same issue on each device

I was an Apple Notes guy for a long time. However, there were two features that I didn't like about it. One, I couldn't link my notes together and two, it was cumbersome to share my notes with others, especially non-iphone users. Notion solved both these problems and provides an excellent user interface.
Pros
Notion is the superior notes taking app. A few of my favorite features are the ability to organize withing projects and tasks, the ability to have different kind of notes (one type for personal notes, and another to track tasks), the ability to publish notes to the web without needing a specific domain, and the ability to share notes with others on your team and have them update easily.
Cons
Notion does take a little while to learn, but once you understand how the system works, it's excellent. I use it for my personal notes as well as project tracking with my team.

I have been using notion for a while now for many purposes including academic, journalling, planning etc. At times, due to lack of offline mode, i have tried using alternatives but eventually I end up coming back to notion. It would be great if notion had feature for handwriting too so that illustrating notes could be easy. The white board option doesnt work well with my usage.

Overall, Notion has been a great addition to our team. We use it to host all our internal wikis and general project information, enabling a seamless workflow.
Pros
I love the simple interface and the customization possibilities. It's intuitive and adaptable, making it easy to implement across various projects. Whether used as a project tracker or an internal wiki, it serves our needs well.
The option to add templates from Notion's library is another standout feature, showcasing its full potential. Additionally, the new AI tools have been a game changer. So far, I've primarily used them for proofreading, improving writing, and adjusting grammar, but I'm excited about the broader possibilities they offer.
I also love that they keep adding new features, and I'm looking forward to the new additions they'll soon make.
Cons
Although I appreciate the limited customization in terms of design, it would be great to have additional options, such as customizable accent colors or alternative layouts. It’s not a deal breaker, but it would be a welcome enhancement.
Some features do require more expertise, so there is definitely a learning curve when creating a personalized workspace.
Lastly, the pricing can be a downside. While I’m not directly responsible for managing costs, I know this is an aspect that's being taken into consideration when reviewing software budget for 2025.

Great for Startups, not sure about Mature Businesses

The way we used it at the startup I was working remotely at was kind of like a complete workplace with all the documents and various functions and projects loaded on there. I think this works well for a small team, but I don't think its super scalable without some serious forethought and planning, and likely some kind of "Notion Consultant" to help organise things.
Pros
Notion has a lovely layout with the left sidebar containing all the different pages, projects, tasks, etc. A little silly, but I love that we can add banners and emojis to the title and make the "virtual workplace" our own. Its great to be able to integrate other apps into Notion. We added our Gdrive, Slack, and Figma into the space and it functioned well. There are also ways to share specific pages with guests, and its possible to have private pages, separate from the team.
Cons
As lovely as the layout is, our Notion became cluttered and messy fast because we didn't quite know where to add what (e.g. tasks, projects, pages, etc.). It takes quite a bit of knowledge and forethought to organise a team around it. I also don't like that there are very limited fonts and typography. So anything that we export to PDF doesn't look part of our brand and we have to re-do it on another software. Also, when we embed documents in our pages, we don't quite have the same visibility (i.e. we have to click on a specific page to see what documents are linked to it). Maybe that's the way its intended to be, but I found it a little annoying and often just used Gdrive instead.

A colleague shared a public document in Notion and I was immediately charmed by the clarity of the interface and wanted to learn more. Quite frankly, I was finding the Google Docs experience to be so unattractive as to be off brand. I can create much more professional shared documents in Notion. Additionally, the easy availability of databases made moving my knowledge management to Notion an no-brainer.
Pros
It is easy to get started in Notion and very intuitive. Creating attractive interfaces and database views is relatively simple. I appreciate being able to mix multiple media and data sources into one document.
Cons
There are so many possibilities with Notion it can be challenging to find the solution or template that will actually meet your need.

Overall I am very pleased with Notion, as we have successfully built a functional project management system that serves as a well-oiled system for managing our company's workflow. The pricing is significantly less than well-known alternatives.
Pros
I like that Notion allows full customization in building the databases, and does not force you into a pre-determined template like other project management systems. While the trade-off is more time spent up front learning how Notion works and building out the templates, it is worth it to have everything tailored to your business.
Cons
The biggest drawback was the time it took to build out our Notion databases, and figure out how we should do it. There was a learning curve, and we are continually figuring new things out. Also, we really wish Notion and Google Calendar would sync, because Notion's Calendar lacks the functionality and aesthetic qualities of Google.

Notion is a practical and enjoyable tool to use. Its intuitive interface and powerful databases make it an excellent choice for organizing daily tasks and taking notes. Despite a few minor downsides, it stands out as one of the best apps of its kind.
Pros
Notion is a tool incredibly easy to use (thanks to its intuitive interface). Everything is clear and easy to grasp, even for beginners. It’s a true all-in-one tool, allowing for note-taking, task management, and project organization in one place. The standout feature compared to competitors is its flexible databases, which let you organize information however you like.
Cons

notions review with respect to use of student
Reviewed on 2024/12/08
Overall experience with Notion as a student has been very positive. It has been an essential tool...
Overall experience with Notion as a student has been very positive. It has been an essential tool for managing my busy academic and extracurricular life. From keeping track of my class schedule and assignments to tracking coding projects and planning for events like college fests, everything is kept in one place with Notion.
I like the flexibility of using workflows. For instance, I created myself a personal dashboard with timetable, to-do lists, and deadlines. The feature of being able to link pages and work with templates makes organizing really easy and efficient. Calendar view as well as Kanban boards in general are very useful for visualizing overload and keeping everything under control.
However, it had a steep learning curve at the start, and I had to take some time to figure out how to set this one to my specific needs. Moreover, it has terrible offline functionality sometimes.
Overall, Notion has significantly improved my productivity, allowing me to balance academics, coding, and extracurriculars effectively. It's a powerful tool that I’d recommend to any student willing to explore its potential.
Pros
For someone like me, juggling coding projects, college schedules, assignments, and extracurriculars like attending fests, Notion has been a game-changer. All aspects of my student life can be streamlined efficiently using the all-in-one workspace provided by Notion.
Notion is very flexible. I have created separate pages for my timetable, task management, and coding projects. Customizable templates made it easy to set up a weekly schedule or a Kanban board to track my project progress. The ability to link pages means that I can keep all relevant information—like assignment deadlines and project resources—just a click away.
For event planning, like attending or organizing fests, Notion's calendar view is invaluable. It lets me track deadlines, add details of events, and even embed media like posters or schedules for easy reference.
Its mobile app ensures I can access my tasks on the go, while the collaboration feature allows me to share notes or project updates with peers. The interface is sleek, and its drag-and-drop functionality makes organizing tasks almost fun.
Notion has made a slight learning curve worth it for transforming my workload; it balances academics with coding and fun. It is a must-have for students!
Cons
The biggest challenge faced as a student in steep learning curve is that it is extremely flexible, but you actually have to get to know how to customize it for what you want, be it timetable management or tracking assignments-you find it really frustrating trying to get through features of it and understanding how you can set up an efficient system when you are managing pretty busy student life.
Another drawback is its limited offline functionality. Not being able to access or update my notes or schedules without an internet connection can be inconvenient, especially during commutes or when Wi-Fi isn’t available.
Besides, Notion sometimes lags and especially slows down when working with large databases or pages filled with content, which hinders the workflow of doing fast updates before a class or an event. Despite all that, once it is installed, Notion is such a powerful app and effort to make.
