In my case I have used it more than anything as a complement to some architectural renderings that I do, but in the future I am very interested in using it again as a video game developer, I think it is a software that has much more potential than what I could use.
Pros
I am fascinated by the results that can be achieved with this software, it is very customizable down to the smallest detail, without a doubt I was quite surprised.
Cons
I do not know if there are things that I do not like, it is definitely a product that should be used with time, and with all the characteristics it has, many things I had to find how to do, it is not very user-friendly in the sense in which As soon as you use it, you can guess where to click for each thing you want to do, but I don't think it is something negative since that would remove many aspects of customization from the 3d models.

I love the flexibility of 3ds Max. Whether it's architectural or character design, this program can render great results. I currently use this program for architectural modeling, but there are many times where I enjoy the ability to custom design something very unique within the same program.
Pros
I love the familiarity with the interface. It's consistently stayed similar over the past 15 years that I've used this program. The interface is easy to understand, but also requires a level of expertise to run the software. This program is the best 3d modeling and rendering software on the market as it's proven itself over and over.
Cons
The price is the main downside for this software. It's definitely an investment year over year.

SketchUpReasons for Switching to 3ds Max
If you're a professional, 3d max is the program for you. All other programs offer quick solutions, but nothing is as in-depth or customizable.

Cons
Its way too expensive. I get its worth that to big companys, but you need to learn it somhow. I was lucky to have a student license, but otherwise you only have 30 day trail to learn it.

Based on my experience of about twelve months, I find that it is a powerful and particularly versatile software for advanced modeling.
Pros
What I like about it is that it offers advanced animation tools to bring objects to life. You can also create animations with motion, simulate physics, and utilize advanced particle effects and systems.
Cons
I love the features of 3ds Max. It offers a customizable interface and fluid simulation capabilities for creating realistic effects. However, I can't find any features that I dislike.

3ds Max, the ideal tool for 3D modeling and animation
Reviewed on 2023/02/15
Pros
I find 3ds Max to be an extremely comprehensive 3D modeling and animation software that offers many advantages. First of all, I like its intuitive and easy-to-use user interface, which makes the creation process faster and easier. In addition, its extensive library of models and authoring tools allow me to work on a variety of projects, such as video games, animated movies, commercials and architectural visualizations. The animation tools are also very advanced and allow me to create fluid and realistic movements for characters and objects. In addition, it can handle large file sizes and high resolutions, providing fast and efficient performance. Finally, its compatibility with many other 3D authoring programs makes it easy to integrate into my production pipeline.
Cons
I find that while 3ds Max is a top-notch 3D design software, it also has some potential drawbacks. For example, the full version can be expensive for me as a beginner. Also, the user interface can seem a bit complex for new users like me, with many menus and options to explore. Finally, some modeling and animation tools may require a longer learning curve to fully master.

This software has become our main tool for 3D modelling in all of our projects. It works as charm with windows and mid-level computers and above.
Pros
Complex forms 3D modelling is just superb, you can achieve results for any type of architectural buildings, which is the main reason we use 3ds Max. Even if you manage curves, the snap function helps a lot for precision. The compatibility with Autodesk and external software is a plus, and most renderers work with 3ds Max which is awesome. Totally recommended.
Cons
I can't say i dislike anything from 3ds max, but if you are a beginner, you might feel like the interface is heavy. It is not a self-teach software, you should get a course for it or check several tutorials.

It was a good experience. 3DS Max was the very first software I have used. During that time there is not much tutorial found in YouTube, so I have to figure out things on my own. But, yes, it was very much doable. Persistence is key to learning. You cannot be lazy in reading documentations. But with todays copious amount of learning videos and institutions, it shouldn't be easy to learn 3DS Max. Persistence and time are keys to learning. It takes time and persistence as 3DS Max is not an easy software to learn.
Pros
- This is a more than 20-year old software and pretty much mature and almost have all that you need. I've used this software since 2007 and I'm amazed at how this renders objects on it's own.- Best used from simple projects to a more complex and gaming characterizations and 3D movies.- The level of customizability can be done up to the DNA level. - The rendering quality is just amazingly stunning, even on it's own rendering engine, couple it with third-party rendering software, it makes object render output even more elaborate.
Cons
- One major issue I have with 3DS Max is the learning curve. It's harder to learn than, say, Cinema 4D. It is kind of verbose and complex to learn. I need a bit of persistence to learn it.- It has a very heavy native payload. It has like 8 to 9GB of payload on it's own. So, now if you add more libraries and other third-parties the load will even be more heavy.

Pros
The most thing I liked is the ease of dealing with the program and the multiplicity of interfaces a wonderful and light feature when using and gives amazing results in the work of projects facilitates the designer to see its design before implementation and facilitates the implementation engineer in the speed and accuracy of implementation after taking out the shop drawing of the design
Cons
The least I liked was the lack of merging the materials in the same file as the sketchup program to reduce the movement of the project and the use of paths to define the materials

My experience with the software has been interesting especially with creating 3D architectural designs.
Pros
The Architectural modeling process in this software is very interesting because it makes it easy to produce accurate structures. The rendering here is also faster and realistic and it is easy to work around materials in this software.
Cons
The software is not as user friendly as other 3D modeling software and that it has a lot tools and one can not know all of them.

3DS Max allows me to do all my work in VFX with total guaranteed exceptional final quality. it is a tool that is fast, efficient and reliable. Compared with earlier versions, the latest version is more stable and has better performance in both functionality and modeling. The renderings are of excellent quality.
Pros
What surprised me most pleasantly is that in the new versions, 3DS max has a smart archiving tool that is available to you. Thus, the data relating to the management of your project will be easily accessible. You can make changes from anywhere. They will be immediately taken into account. Each member of your team will have access to project information. it's just fabulous.
Cons
The only problem with 3DS max is its rather exorbitant price which is not within everyone's reach, especially novices.

One of the best software for modelling and rendering
Reviewed on 2021/07/22

I've always used it for architectural modelling and rendering, it's one of the most complex programs I've ever learned to use, and while it's totally worth it, it was a tiring process. It has tools that you rarely get to use and you can get lost and frustrated when you are just learning. Sometimes it has taken me hours to apply certain parameters to the model, but the equipment I have has a lot to do with that. The features that your computer should have to run the program are very complex, but somehow you are aware of that because of the use of the program. The evolution of the software is constant and it adapts to the different needs that you have, at least in my case in the area of architecture. And at the end of the day it is a program for professionals, if you are not willing or do not have the time to learn to use it, you may not like it or believe that it does not work when it is not the case.
Pros
It is complex but becomes a fast and easy workflow once you know how to use it, it is accessible for students and it is one of the "basic" programmes that you will have to use in your working life. The final product in both modeling and rendering is complete and professional. Both at school and at work it is used all the time. It is adaptable and compatible if you want to work with other programs, both for importing and exporting. And it becomes indispensable for the production management of a final architectural project.
Cons
The time it can take for a person to learn how to use it is very long. You have to do constant work and have knowledge in other areas so that the tools make more sense and you can work more easily with it. Start to slow down with complex projects and it can take a considerable amount of time to get a good end result.

Greatest thing in my tool set as for manufacturing, also for rendering. I can do entire mechanism in a day, and as soon I throw it for 3D printing, my client is already watching the generated renders with great photo realism.
Pros
Well, as an industrial designer, this is my daily driver. I currently do a complete 3D mechanism models in it for 3d printing. I can say once you set the units and find the tolerances that work for you, it is a simple process. As another cool feature I can point that from the assembly file for printing, you can make another copy and set it for the product renders you can use for presentation purposes and that's great.
Cons
hard to learn the rendering engines and parameters, but it's not only on this software. Just too much stuff you have to know how it works and keep track of your settings.

After a few years using it, it turned out being great, I've created successful game assets and product presentations. I also like about it that it supports the majority of the plugins offered by the market that enhance its options, like realistic renderings.
Pros
I like about 3ds Max that it's easy to use, friendly interface and comprehensive official tutorials. You can go from sketch to finish even on professional projects like triple A games, and even in movie industry.
Cons

3ds Max has allowed me to have a business for the last 25-years. Max has been the foundation of my business and without out it, I'd never have been able to compete in the very, very competitive 3d visualization industry. From animations for small websites to feature film, Max can handle it and many of the top tier movies you know and love were made with it. It's power can't be overestimated.
Pros
3ds Max is powerful. That's an understatement. It can be used by anyone but it's particularly useful to professionals who need all the features. It has been around over 20-years so it's robust and mature. There are 1000s of tutorials for it and the user Forum is one of the best I've ever seen.
Cons
This is not a Con of 3ds Max but is a reality of all powerful software, it takes time to get really good. Max is one of the best for intuitively being able to get around and get started, but to really use it well, you have to pay your dues and take a course or self teach by doing lots of tutorials. That's my experience. I'm self-taught and online tutorials were my guide.
