We have used Jitsi a lot, and although we will be moving soon to do most of our team meetings in Microsoft Teams, it has served us very well, and we still might use it in the future if we need to work with outside collaborators and are looking for a hassle-free setup and meeting.

Pros

I like that this is an open source project and that it works reliably well. I especially like that it does not require the user to install any application or any browser add-on. We have never had any problems with new users connecting to a Jitsi meeting. I also really like that it allows for recording the meeting (with a connection to Dropbox).

Cons

There are a few minor UI issues that make it a bit bulky to use for newcomers, such as the extensive menu with many options.

Pros

The ability to quickly create a meeting room, wich a customized name and an easily accessible URL makes it perfect for everyday use.

Cons

Stability and bandwidth issues, even on a self hosted server, seems to cause some issues with heavy usage unfortunately.

It is suitable for online conferences, classes in the case of lockdown due to corona outbreak , which helps for classes to be continued .No registration is required , just creak a room and anyone with the link can join. best part is we can share the screen and present it to others.

Cons

It is a good option to include users quickly, since you do not need to register, just the link of the room to enter.

Pros

This tool is an excellent option for making audio and video calls. Just create a room and post the link for anyone to join the meeting. No registration is required, which makes access even simpler. You can share the screen and write in the message area.

Cons

I used the web version (browser) and found the audio and video quality great. The only negative point is that the messaging area (chat) has few resources. There is no option to share files.

Pros

Very intuitive, I like that it has some features specific for conference meeting software. It meets its purpose.

Cons

I’ve had some connectivity issues while using the software, it might be related to my other programs running in the back like Adobe which are very heavy and might interfere. But I haven’t made any probing on this.

Videoconferences made simple, free, and private

Reviewed on 2019/08/15

Pros

Jitsi offers videoconferences with all the expected features (group calls, screensharing, rise hand, chat, streaming, recording, encryption...) without the need to install specific software (it works from the web browser, although there are specific apps) nor create an account, for free and preserving your privacy. What else?

Cons

I have not found a single problem or glitch with jitsi, I am, though concerned about their business model (none) what makes me wonder about its long-term future.

Overall, I find Jitsi to be a great software for video conferencing and webinars. It is reliable and secure, and offers an easy to use interface that makes it accessible to everyone. It has a wide range of features and is highly scalable, allowing for large numbers of participants. While it can be slow to load and a bit tricky to configure, it is still an excellent choice for video conferencing and webinars.

Pros

I like that Jitsi is an open source software that provides a reliable, secure and easy to use platform for video conferencing. It has a great user interface that is easy to learn and navigate, and it offers a wide range of features including audio and video conferencing, file sharing, whiteboarding, and even webinar capabilities. The software is also highly scalable and can accommodate a large number of participants.

Cons

I dislike that the software can be a bit slow to load and can be difficult to configure if you don't have experience with it. Additionally, I find it a bit hard to troubleshoot any issues that come up.

It is fantastic and a wonderful process

Pros

It is a wonderful function that allows screen sharing, person to person interactions, dial-in services - the quality is good and it will revert to audio only if the connection drops down. The best part is feeling secure because the titles of the rooms can be randomized words and it just feels like only people that need to be involved would ever think of.

Cons

The new update did something, where sometimes I have to click the camera twice to get it to not black screen, but beyond that it's been great.

Pros

Cons

I observed that when using on an android phone, it can't minimize once it is set to display over all other apps, which is really bugging. And again i don't know if it is just me, but there are no administrative powers like anyone can shut anyone out during a live session.

EXCELLENT.

EXCELLENT.

Pros

I have only three meetings per month. They run about 70 minutes in length. The free option was not good for me, as we cannot stop and start our meeting. Zoom would not offer discounted pricing for individual very light usage. For the ten minute overage Jitsi gave me just what we needed. Have not used it live yet, but it seems very stable.

Cons

One of the TEST meeting attendes did not show up on one of the computers. I could not figure out why. We even quit both computers, then rejoined the meeting. Not sure how critical this will be.

Pros

My Views on Jitsi: An Open-Source Video Conferencing Software

Reviewed on 2022/09/18

It is very useful for quick meetings as we don't need to download or launch a dedicated software,...

It is very useful for quick meetings as we don't need to download or launch a dedicated software, which often hangs the system. It allows us to record meetings with the in-built recorder. Therefore, we don't need to download third-party software to record meetings. Its UI is very easy to use and friendly, so none of our clients hesitate to join our monthly meetings.

Pros

Jitsi is the best open-source and free video conferencing tool. Where every tool in the market charges a lot just to provide some basic features, it comes with all of the advanced features yet at no cost. We don't need to create an account either; we just need to give a name to our meeting and it'll generate a link for us to share it with the other participants to join. The audio and video output are in high definition quality. Meetings can be embedded almost everywhere or can be integrated with any other software. The UI is neat, and there is a big community backing it if anything unpleasant occurs. This ultimate free tool comes with a bundle of advanced features: live screen presentation, live public and private chat, security option, noise suppression, audio-video sharing, live streaming, etc.

Cons

There are a few drawbacks, which I realized. There is a limit of 100 participants. It won't help if an organization needs to have more than 100 people at a conference. As it doesn't require an account to begin with a meeting, sometimes random people join a meeting if one forgets to set a meeting password. Sometimes voices begin to break for all of the participants if End-to-End Encryption is turned on.

Jitsi - a more private alternative to Zoom

I would definitely recommend it as a more private alternative to Zoom for teams.

Pros

I use Jitsi for daily call conferencing with 6-12 participants. Jitsi makes it easy for all users to share video. It shows active call quality for each participant based on their connection. Active chat feature is very useful for sharing links to projects. Active speaker's boxes are highlighted with a blue border. Anyone not sharing video is shown by their initials or first letter of their first name. Very accessible and user friendly.

Cons

Sometimes, Jitsi does have outages, slow connectivity, or turns everyone's videos black which can be annoying. Overall though, it is a great product and a private alternative to Zoom or other similar products.
