This software will save a ton of time. When I had issues with it initially they had a meeting with several of their staff with me to attempt to plan resolution. Following that meeting resolutions keep popping up. I gained trust in their company. There are still some improvements to be made and my requests have not fallen on deaf ears. I feel they are responsive.

Pros

This software excels at collecting and storing passwords automatically. It also does a great job at putting the passwords in. It is tough to avoid and forces users to use it when installed. It comes with freebies like Dark Web monitoring and password search as well as password security scoring. It allows for users to keep personal and business passwords separate. It does a good job with security too.

Cons

The password sharing function is clunky. This is an issue in most password managers though. PB's structure is to put passowrds into a shared folder. It is not intuitive as to how to share beyond that single folder. Also we have had a number of sharing errors where one user couldn't get it but another could. These issues have mostly been resolved. There are also issues with the ability for a coworker to quickly export all your passwords without telling the user that an export was performed. Finally it will occasionally lock a user out of a site while it tries to log in over and over with the wrong password. They really need to more prominently locate the AutoLogin as well as the Sub-site turn off options. Initially we were unable to roll it out on networks and each user required its own setup (which required admin permissions). Since we addressed this with the company they have corrected the issue and now it is usable by an MSP company.

Alternatives Considered

Keeper Security and Dashlane for Business

Reasons for Choosing Password Boss

We switched because PB was much better at password collection as well as having the ability to have many sub-accounts. It was our goal to distribute a password manager to hundreds of our users.

Reasons for Switching to Password Boss

PB seemed to function better and was more intuitive than the others. It was also priced more reasonably.

Lifetime deal bought less than a year ago - I now pay subscription fees with another company

Started good enough for my simple needs, then crashed hard. BUYER BEWARE: I believe this to be a dying software that they are milking the last bits of lifetime deals and subscriptions before the software goes belly up. Unlike problems with many companies that are swiftly and directly addressed, the connection and syncing issues were given bandaid fixes without explanations. I use a ton of cloud based software for storage, communication etc.. and have not had a problem with others.

Pros

Stores passwords as expected, interface generally smooth. For a budget password system this worked, and I paid extra for the lifetime deal, which I originally felt was a good choice.

Cons

Syncing started ok, gradually became a nightmare. Bought to have one main account and share with another one (our front desk at the clinic). Gradually experienced more and more glitches with syncing between main account and the "shared" folder. Spent roughly 2 hours with support. Resolved with a reset on the back end. Couple months later same issue, more time to resolve this one, I went to download an update from their website (that would not update by clicking the simple update button in the app, which stated it was fully updated). When I asked them, I couldn't get options on how to prevent in future. I checked their changelog which shows no updates since 2022, which is not truly not a good sign for security related software. As of now, still hasn't been updated (https://www.passwordboss.com/category/release-notes/). Next problem months larter: I was unable to update and store between my own account (ex computer to phone), on top of failed sharing. Not my first password software, and I feel I'm quite tech and software savvy. Overall I've lost time and money on this one by trying to save a couple of dollars.

Keeping you safe

Reviewed on 2022/11/05

Pros

My favourite part about Password Boss is that it’s easy to set up and use - keeping all my important information in one place yet accessed on multiple devices.

Cons

On occasions, it does not recognise some websites requiring a password if the original username and password was set up on a different website

Overall, it has been a pleasure to easily login to frequently used websites.

Pros

The features that are most impactful are the auto-logins and the remote control integration for convenience reasons.

Cons

Personally, the feature with two-factor authentication is not convenient and honestly annoying most of the time. I understand the reasoning behind it but I prefer not to have another step to login.

I think I'd rather just stick with Google Chrome's password manager.

Pros

I like you can save credentials with a single click and it seems secure. I have to log into it daily and that's fine.

Cons

I think the browser plugin/extension is a little annoying. I disabled it because I was annoyed having to click around it so much if I didn't want to save something to Password Boss.

It's rare to be so horribly let down by a software vendor. They know that the software is complete crap and they are more focused on sales and marketing of a beta version (that they say is ready for production) instead of actually making a quality product or repairing all of the huge short-comings. Then the truth is in their Terms and Conditions where they nullify themselves of all liability for the software not performing to the very core deliverables that they claim that it provides. What an example of a dishonest company!

Pros

That we are finally giving up and moving to a competitor and we will no longer be subject to random data loss.

Cons

Their ideas are a good start, but the execution of nearly every aspect of the software is pitiful. Nothing works as it should.

Wouldn't bother to use it again. An indicator for the malpractice is that there isn't a price model on the website.

Pros

I thought it's cheaper to have to pay for one account but being able to share with others

Cons

It isn't optimized for Mac OS, one time it stalled and at a couple GB of disk space. Also there isn't a log out in the app so you have to quit the app to re login. Also it's not suitable to share passwords with others, when you do it they have to register for a trial premium account.

It is more than enough for personal use. It lacks some features that we find in other players. The various possibilities of organizing passwords is very useful.

Pros

Maybe it isn't the finest manager of passwords but it's safe and trustworthy. Free option for a single device is great. You can organize your passwords in several ways and that's very useful.

Cons

It does not have as many features and options as other solutions available on the market. But beyond that, nothing very relevant to say. It works well for a personal use.
