End Point for Small Business

Reviewed on 2022/03/22

Pros

With cyber threats growing every day we are really grateful for Sophos. As the lone ranger for IT I've been able to use Sophos to make sure that our computers meet our requirements. We've stopped many viruses in their tracks across all our company-owned computers.

Cons

The customer service leaves much more to be desired. The sales process for Sophos is also a bit slow and outdated for a software subscription company.

Great Product for your Endpoint peace of mind

Reviewed on 2022/09/07

Really positive experience of using this product and deploys easily. Support and online community is great and you can get the answers you need quickly

Pros

The product is very feature rich and allows us to, in quite a bit of granularity stop, block and allow devices to do things - the product is very intuitive and when testing against other products found threats quicker

Cons

As with everything there is functionality that is "gated" behind extra licensing requirements

Reasons for Choosing Intercept X Endpoint

The agreement was coming to the end and it just felt that the Kaspersky product was very "clunky" (even the "new" cloud offering) when compared to the lite install of Sophos.

Reasons for Switching to Intercept X Endpoint

Purely for the features and reporting

Cons

- Very difficult to remove from devices on an enterprise scale

An Outstanding Protection from Threats.

Overall, it gave our IT control over internet usage along with great security features.

Pros

Sophos Endpoint Protection is a complete security solution. It checks all the attachments sent via email and provides a strong guard against all sorts of malware attacks. It is also being used to limit user internet access within our company. Which prevents the abuse of bandwidth. It also supports Windows and Mac both operating systems. Hence, nothing goes unprotected in our company.

Cons

A user can uninstall it to restore the full internet access without being asked to provide a password or taking permission.

Excellent Endpoint Protection with Cloud Management

Reviewed on 2019/04/14

Sophos Endpoint protection is fairly priced and adds piece of mind to device security, but requires the addition of remote access to complete the product.

Pros

Sophos Endpoint Protection is managed via Sophos Central, the cloud management portal for nearly all Sophos Products. It allows rapid deployment of Sophos Endpoint Software to MacOS and Windows, and reports and allows policies and users to be centrally managed. It's very good at catching nearly all issues.

Cons

Occasionally its not so good and some issues still require physical access to the device to remove the issue.

so far so good

Reviewed on 2022/06/21

Pros

Mass deployment is quite easy, but you should be aware that you cant download whole client, so if you deploying Intercept X over whole domain, your network will get quite bussy as every endpoint start downloading whole package, so you better plan accordingly. Otherwise Intercept X for Endpoint (and Server) is great modern antivirus with all features you would expect. In latest version, you can even decrypt SSL trafic right on endpoint, so you can stop users visiting potencialy bad websites right at its roots. Also management in Sophos Central is pretty cool.

Cons

mass deployment part, where you cant download whole client.

Easy for Administrators

Reviewed on 2020/04/21

The software is good for the cost and is great for smaller businesses. It offers thorough protection, and is low-impact on the user. I would recommend this software from a Mac-user and administrator standpoint.

Pros

This endpoint malware protection is easy for Administrators to use and monitor activity, and is low-impact to our on all-Mac video production company.

Cons

It would be very beneficial to have an Administrator remote-in option to manually remove PUAs when the software cannot remove the file. This would come in very handy when employees are remote, or infrequently within reach of the IT Administrator.

Great for granular control

Reviewed on 2019/08/29

Have not used Intercept X, but saw a demonstration. It looks like a good product that can isolate an infected computer and allow deep investigations of what where and wehn it happened.

Pros

Easy to setup and push out to Endpoints. Love the ease of setting up Web control and application control. Clone the base policy make changes to it and apply it to one computer or all computers and servers. Like the fact you can set application controls as well to allow users to add .exe files or disallow them.

Cons

Reporting of computers is a little flaky. When a computer updates, it disables certain services which throws an alert. When the service restarts, you have to manually clear the alert.

Response from Sophos

Glad to hear Sophos Endpoint is working out well for you. We hope you get to use the full Intercept X at some point for the latest & greatest protection.

Reliable security solution

Reviewed on 2020/03/29

The solution is the next generation of Sophos protection software, and I am quite used to their way of thinking. It helped in the past year to protect the IT system in our company, and I think it will continue to do so. Once it is set up, the end-users are not even noticing its presence.

Pros

The best thing is that you can relly on Sophos to provide you with most up to date protection definitions, and to be able to accurately select the level of protection for each group of users or devices. The fact that all data are securely passing trough their central protection system gives even more assurance. This is truly a professional solution and goes beyond usual protection.

Cons

None so far. Indeed, you must have a certified person to set it up, but this is to be expected of such a complex solution.

One of the best security suites

Reviewed on 2019/01/09

Fingers crossed, I have never experienced a glitch in our security after deploying Sophos to our endpoints. I hope it continues to do so.

Pros

What I liked about Sophos is the enterprise readiness of the solution to provide an all in one solution for the entire security landscape. It is a very robust and scalable solution for our company and with other companies I know who have deployed the solution. It even has its own Data Leak Protection mechanism.

Cons

Maybe the least liked about the software is the resources it eats up, when I have used it on an older machine (laptop). It really bogs down the system to the point there is not much to do while the program is doing its thing.

Platform that provides maximum endpoint protection

Reviewed on 2022/04/30

Intercept X is a secure, high-performance, low-impact platform that has the ability to stop a wide variety of advanced threats.

Pros

Efficiently detect ransomware, without interrupting the work of employees. It is powered by Artificial Intelligence that guarantees maximum protection against fake URLs or web pages. It works in the background without consuming the performance of the equipment. It facilitates an optimal centralized management based on the cloud, administered from anywhere and at any time.

Cons

Although it offers powerful and effective endpoint protection. The only thing that must be evaluated so far to implement this solution is its cost, which is considerably high.

Pros

we use sophos to protect several hundred endpoints and 10's of servers. It alerts us to outdated versions or missed updates. Blocks many intrusions and allows for people to be grouped into policies based on network access needed.

Cons

Machines often need to be rebooted to stay current on updates and end users dont always restart leading to emails of outdated products

Sophos for Email Security

Reviewed on 2020/11/10

Sophos does a great job of identifying and quarantining potential spam emails for the company I work for. They also have clever training on how to recognize suspect emails.

Pros

Sophos works well behind the scenes to screen potential spam or phishing emails. It is rare that questionable emails get past the system.

Cons

When you receive a notification with more than one email that has been quarantined you have to select each one individually as to whether it should be deleted or released. This makes it time consuming to deal with the quarantined email.

Easy to implement, if a little difficult to figure out at times

Reviewed on 2017/06/15

Easy to implement, easy to use after figuring out quirks. Cost effective.

Pros

It is cloud based, so you don't need to have software installed on a server and can access from any location. It's also easy to install and supports both Mac and Windows. The dashboard gives an overview of what is going on with your machines. Most times you can clean up things right from the cloud interface, but if manual clean up is required there is generally advice on what to do through links.

Cons

Some of the features take a bit of digging, for example adding exceptions could be an easier process. Also the few interactions I've had with support have been lackluster, even to the point of not getting responses at all.
