Unlike expensive audio software, it's easy to use. I don't have time to learn a complicated software. I've used it for many years. I get high quality results for my clients and for my course studies which is a must. It's consistently being updated to give the best results. I can't do business without it.
Pros
I love that audacity is free and that it offers all the tools I need to record and edit my voiceovers, my e-course studies, and to create and edit mp3's to go with the video book trailers I create for my clients.
Cons
It must be downloaded to my computer to use.

My experience ranges from creating music to creating voice over and narratives for presentations to also editing parts of a podcast. I've also used this to investigate audio from ghost hunting investigations.
Pros
One of the best things about this program is that it's free and gives you a lot of tools to edit audio that you would need ahead of making videos, creating music or making a podcast.
Cons
There can be a learning curve that comes with this program and understanding all the features and possibilities.

I was able to edit the podcast we were working on pretty easily, we even added some sound effects and fades in and out like you would on a radio show. seems like you can also do much more complex tasks easily too if you are knowledgeable.
Pros
I like how you can visually see all the tracks and it helps to go back when something sounds wrong. As someone who is not adept at editing in any sort I found it to be straight forward and easy to use. there are tons of videos online that can help you do whatever you are trying to do
Cons
I can be daunting of you are not a person who knows much about audio editing but you can choose to make what you do simple. In program help guides would be great.

Pros
I use audacity whan I need to modify my audio files in a fast and easy way (you can record your file "live" or simply import an audio file you already created). Really useful if you want to cut some parts and/or reduce the lenght of your audio file and add some effects (for example changing the pitch).
Audacity is easy to use and allows you to export your audio files in many formats.
Highly recommended!

Pros
Audacity has been reliable for me and and is well laid out. I like the way that It comes with a range of built in effects including noise reduction, auto ducking, EQ filters etc.
Cons
Given that some people want to use audio editors for mastering it would be good if they have a decent loudness maximizer (something like Waves L1). I also think the logo could do with being refreshed it looks like it was designed in 1990.

In my experience of around 10+ years of using this software, there's plenty of tools, features and compatibility. It is cross-platform, which means you'll be able to use it on Windows and Linux, for example, and it's Free software!Audacity is great for whoever is beginning their journey in Audio Editing, and it's highly capable for other kind of users as well.Overall I highly recommend this software.

The compatibility with the different importing and exporting formats.The ease of use, it is simply incredibly easy to begin using and extremely intuitive for professional users.The features, things like being able to view and customize Spectral Views along with viewing the regular Waveform at the same time.Plenty of filters and the ability of importing your own VSTs, LADSPA and LV2 ones.Multi-Track support.
Cons
Importing MIDI is possible but using .mid files is very limited. Perhaps a little customization or a set of features to overlay midi data on top of a waveform for transcription might be useful, although it's not the program's main task.ASIO Support would be nice to have, currently the audio devices are tied to the system. Using input equipment in latency-bound scenarios can be tough for direct monitoring through the software on Windows. On Linux it may be possible to direct monitor, provided that you activate the option and set the proper buffersize.Even more advanced editing features would be welcome, although not strictly necessary.For professional use, to my knowledge there is no surround support. But considering this software is aimed at simple usage, it still provides a lot of features.

Pros
First off: it was free. Second: super easy to use. I had no idea how to mix music and record above the files, but it took me tno time at all to learn and figure out the software. I've tried other softwares that were way too complex for me. This is so great for people wanting to get started but not sure how to mix audios.
Cons
There's been a couple of bugs. I have to consistently go back to Edit and Preferences and record new track. Otherwise it automatically adds to the end of my music instead of where I need it on the file. Then I have to go back to the settings to turn it off again. This didn't happen on the last one, just since this last update, so must be a bug. Just a small inconvenience but not stopping me from using the product

Because of its popularity, I'm happy to stick with it as when a problem arises, there will be a YouTube video describing how to solve it and that's important. I do think the program works better on a Mac than the PC.
Pros
The fact that it's open source, plenty of support, a mature product and it's still being updated is appealing to me. I just wish there were more plugins.
Cons
Maybe it's time to have a new GUI, perhaps add wizards to guide people through tasks. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a mobile app for it?

Its completely free and is relatively straightforward to use if you follow some basic tutorials, of which there are many online. I mostly use it for editing music tracks, fading elements out or splicing different parts of songs together and this is a doddle.

Nothing but good experiences with Audacity. It does what I need it to do when it comes to audio splicing, audio recording, and audio volume normalization. I highly recommend to anyone looking to work with audio files where a single track or multiple tracks.
Pros
I have used Audacity since the early versions. Since the beginning the app was easy to use for audio splicing and audio recording.
Cons
It is not necessarily the prettiest app. The app is functional and reliable. I don't think the app has ever crashed.

At first, I was having trouble with another software when it came to converting the mix to an MP3 file. I downloaded the Audacity program and made the MP3 file in a few minutes. While, I was there, I saw other things it could be used for. In particular, the voiceovers. I also found it very helpful when collaborating with other artists.
Pros
Many times, software has a learning curve. (How long it takes to be proficient in what you bought the software for) I found Audacity to be quite easy to learn. The curve, for me was abbreviated.
Cons
I don't have a Con for this. Frankly, for the price, I didn't have a high bar set for it. But Audacity far exceeded my expectations.
