I was on the team responsible for reviewing and selecting the EHR system for our office. When we compared Greenway against several other leading EHR programs we found Prime Suite to be the most functional for all levels of computer capabilities. The cost was also competitive when compared to their competition and has remained so no matter what we've had to change or add over the past few years. Besides functionality we needed a customer support team that wouldn't abandon us and Greenway has not disappointed us in any way. They really appear to make customer service a priority by being prompt with their follow-ups, pleasant to work with when you feel completely inadequate and strive to provide a solution immediately.

Cons
Occasionally the system gets a bug that can take longer than you'd like to be fixed. The cons are really nothing you can't expect from a computer program and occasionally it crashes but this happens very seldom.

Pros
The software itself is good looking with easily usable menus and modules. It makes a good looking note and you can make it as thorough as you like with the ability to create and modify templates (although that can be seriously time consuming, but saves time later). You have the ability to run a ton of different reports for any data you want to analyze. Customer support is great and they have a chat feature which is very handy.
Cons
Eventually it will not be supported as Greenway is going to focus on Intergy. Some of the things that make the software so functional can be time consuming to set up or edit (schedules, templates, reports). Probably my biggest gripe is that there are no templates for creating new users, a lot has to be done from scratch for each one.

Poor at best. They also sold us a dictation product that constantly crashes the system. Literally multiple times a day.
Pros
Not easy to implement. Had to totally rearrange our office flow and we wrote most of the templates for patient visits ourselves.
Cons
There have been issues all along with this software. Glitches, the product stops working due to "upgrades" and workarounds have to be done. Now, most recently, they changed something on their end-not ours- without any warning at all and we are being told we have to get a whole new internet to correct the issue. We are now switching to a new product and the 2 companies won't talk with each other to transfer the data smoothly. Beyond frustrating. Haven't had normal office functioning of the product for weeks and they are NOT helpful fixing the problems that they created themselves.

Pros
The ability to customize the product to meet the needs of any sized practice or specialty. The product works out of the "box" but can easily be adjusted for more complex workflows and office needs. Intuitive layout - very similar to a paper chart. Vendor has had some growing pains but supports its product very well and listens to customers suggestions and complaints. Customer support through the Greenway Community and also through private User Groups allows users to help other users is another great benefit that Greenway provides its clients. The yearly Greenway conferences and local meetings are another great resource for practices.
We have attested for Meaningful Use for the last 3 years, PQRS for 4 years - all with the tools available from PrimeSUITE. The MU dashboard is the best in the business and gives your practice a daily accounting of how each provider is doing with his MU measures.
With Greenway's help we have a bidirectional lab interface with our own in house lab, and unidirectional (soon to be bidirectional) interfaces with Lab Corp and our local hospital. We have an exchange with our state Immunization Registry and state and local hospital HIE.
Cons
Rapid expansion of the product have caused some growing pains but things are definitely improving. Their last upgrade was a big improvement to the product and allows for a greater flexibility and functionality from the previous version. This upgrade had a steep relearning curve but well worth the time and effort to master the new functionality.

Used PrimeSuite in a cardiology practice for 5 years until I left that position for another practice. I loved it from day 1.
Pros
The software is just very user friendly. If you know how to operate a computer in general, you can work in PrimeSuite with ease. Compared to other systems I have used, this definitely "takes the cake" in that area. The reporting options are also great, especially when you get into the custom reporting you can build for pretty much whatever you need. I have worked in 3 systems and PrimeSuite is my favorite. Being fully integrated has so many benefits for billing, clinical, and administrative staff as well.
Cons
The one and only con I can think of is that the customer service went downhill after using PrimeSuite for about 5 years. During the 4th year, hold times were ridiculous, we didn't get calls back, there were no estimated times for resolution, and no one seemed to really be concerned no matter how much we complained. I have been off of PrimeSuite for 2 years now though so hopefully that has improved and went back to the stellar customer service we had in the beginning.

Pros
Sales person did not know the capabilities of the system and misrepresented what it could do.
It took 14 months to get to the point of trying to implement some of the elements of the package we purchased. We still aren't there. Trying to solve the discrepancies between what was purchased and what we got has been time consuming and extremely difficult. Like repeated emails daily, like sending emails to the CEO, CFO etc. multiple times, calling, faxing etc. We have been in that black hole you hear about. We purchased this system after our total dissatisfaction with the Intergy system. When Intergy sold to Greenway and we were shown the PrimeSuite program we were so happy to think there was a system with templates that were relatively easy to use so the doctors would stop complaining. I like the idea that Greenway is trying to straighten out the problems with the product, it is just a very, very slow process. They do listen to customers with ideas for improvement.
Cons
First, RCM caused us to lose over a hundred thousand dollars in revenue, and I had to do the coding. We were sold a product that did everything our local billing company did and more. Using it was made a condition precedent to the purchase. It was a disaster that took a year to resolve. Every patient's account had to be reviewed and corrected.
The EMR portion of the program is a disaster. The front office staff were ready to walk out. Scheduling and rescheduling are very time consuming and multi-step processes. There is no way to print a month's schedule or even see a month which you couldn't see even if you did have that feature because the screen is so small it takes a magnifying glass to read it.

I did use in the past practice fusion, nextgen, practice partner in the previous job before going in my on own I will rather use practice fusion again, I do have the view as a physician and owner of the practice.
Pros
The billing software works well, I found it difficult to find a claim that was not paid why ( all the information is there) you need to get used to finding it, it is not easy to see and find a thing quickly.
Cons
Very difficult for family medicine you need to expend a lot of time doing your set up otherwise paid a lot of money for training and still do your own work " Forget about free training" the free training is just for you to start using greenway, finding diagnosis is difficult it takes a lot of time, sending prescription also take time, you have to save everything before you move to the next step in your note otherwise you can lose the information, make sure your contract has everything you may need in the future otherwise they will charge you for even a smile in from of prime suite, the sale person will tell you everything is included make sure you take your time reading and getting everything in written ( e-prescribe free: not true for control medication you have to pay extra if not written in the initial contract, asking for update or more training it can take weeks even when you have to pay.

The one thing I like most about Greenway is that it is user friendly.
Cons
Not knowing everything that Greenway can do!!, I would like for Greenway to turn on all features that the system can do then let that site have a 30 day trial period or so to see if this is something they need or don't need. A lot of the things you add to Greenway requires a charge and sometimes for small practices its hard to add so many charges onto one system, especially if you don't need or wouldn't use the feature you are paying for. Then some things the system will do and I run up on it by accidently clicking, so it's nice to find those sweet surprises, but it would be helpful if I knew they were there to begin with!!

The upfront planning and project execution of both the Practice Management and Clinical has afforded us the opportunity run an AR of less than 14 days! It is a tremendous advantage to our physicians who have become efficient with the use of templates to see more patients and subsequently treat a larger portion of the community.
Pros
The ability to produce templates to ensure appropriate documentation is provided during care which in turn significantly increases the opportunity of clean claims on the front end.
Cons
The reporting and analytics of the software could be improved in that the canned reports are fundamental but the need to customize Is difficult to navigate in PrimeSuite. The need to establish benchmarks and other measurable statistics is increasingly required to manage our practice, therefore a dynamic reporting and analytics suite is a premium.

We are a 3 person Internal Medicine group in a New Jersey suburb of Philadelphia. We had looked at several systems and chose Greenway partly on the recommendation of a consultant. The demo made it look fairly easy to use. We had no illusions that the transition from paper to an electronic health record would be easy but we had no idea what a hardship it it be. We blame most of this on Greenway. Implementation was a disaster. Our supposed project manager seemed to only manage to be able to delegate questions and problems to others. When the day for training and implementation came we did not have a functional system. Our trainer could not log us on to the system and we were missing needed hardware amongst other things. These are issues that should have been known about or dealt with prior to trying to train us but there was no one to take responsibility. Thus, after 4 days of training we were essentially nowhere. To Greenway's credit, they did give us three days more of training at no charge. However, they did charge us for the extra time it took to sort out the problems with the initial implementation - well over the estimate when we signed the contract. The software is very cumbersome to use for the number of diagnoses we have to deal with. It can take a long time to find and enter problems and history. There may be easier ways of doing what we need to do but because of the poor quality of the initial training and implementation we are learning on the fly. Support is fair - you can wait a long time on hold or get a reply by e-mail in a few days.
The e-prescribing is cumbersome and time consuming, again, this may be a training issue as it was barely touched on because of all the other problems.
We also found out, but we should have been aware, that there seems to be a charge for everything - Quest Lab (our major lab) monthly per provider charge, integrate an EKG -up front fee and monthly charge, etc.
We have been using the system for about 3 months now. Though I can see some good may come of it down the road, because of the problems we have had I can see little good about the system. They need to improve the e-prescribing and make it simpler for an internist to use before I would recommend it to anyone. I also hope for their sake that our implementation was an aberration.

Greenway PrimeSuite is a great EHR and PM system that we have been using for a decade now. They have lots of features to help us chart and bill accurately and efficiently, meet MU, PCMH, etc guidelines, and provide the best patient care we can. These programs and features include a great patient portal, customer community, appointment reminder messages, flowsheets, clinical quality measures, easy coding and billing, lots of reporting options, programs for receiveing faxes and medical records, etc.
Pros
I like that they strive to include all the features we need to provide the best patient care we can. This includes a lot of clinical and billing features, patient involvement, reports, etc. The customer service is always quick to answer and helpful. They also have chat features and after hours care which i have used to great success. Our Care Experience Manager, my rep, is amazing and helps coordinate with all the various support people at Greenway to get the correct specialists and advice we need for any problems we face with our EHR and how we report, bill, etc. She is always available and has regular meetings with us to make sure things are going smoothly. I have attended ENGAGE, their annual conference and had a great time with the various classes, etc. learning a lot and getting great insight into whats coming down the road for them.
Cons
The customer community which has information on how best to use Greenway can be hard to use and requires a lot of knowledge to be able to find information easily. Some of the add on features can be expensive. We have had some issues with the messaging feature, but they are working hard to fix it.

We are a six physician owned OB/GYN clinic located in central Arkansas. I have been with the clinic a little over two years and in practice management for a total of eleven years.
The clinic was using POMS software which was dreadfully out of date and I knew the entire system needed an overhaul. I was taking it one issue at a time, when our CEO told me he thought we should pursue this "EMR thing". That was all I needed. After researching several systems, I narrowed it down to two choices for my doctors to look at. Hands down, they chose Greenway for its flexibilty and ease of use.
We bought our system directly through Greenway and were pleased with the installation. Our implementation was sort of rough, because even though our doctors wanted the change, they were not willing to listen to the Greenway staff (or me) and slow down their schedule in order to train properly. That was a big mistake on our part, however, we were told what we needed to do.
Our front office and billing staff caught onto the system almost immediately. We are utilizing lots of the functionality but have not tapped into all that is available. One of our nurses and I attended Primeleader 2012 and are signed up again for Primeleader 2013. That was extremely helpful and gave me lots of opportunities to network with other users.
We do receive good customer support - better than other systems I have used, but occasionaly have to wait longer than we want to for some questions. I think that is just the mentality of "I want what I want, when I want it!!" that most of us have.
The meaningful use dashboard has made it so easy to get our meaningful use money! That was a life saver for me.
Overall I am very pleased with our selection and how Greenway works with us.
They are very easy to deal with and the support staff is always kind; never treating you as a dummy even though you may really be slow to understand.

The product is very consumer driven. The more you put into it the more you get out of it. While this is not a con for us as we are very involved in adapting along with the product, some do not put in the time to make the product work for them.
Pros
What I like most about Greenway is the accessibility to customer service. If I have a question that I can't answer or if I need an answer in a hurry, their customer service team is amazing! They are always willing to take the time to answer additional questions and exceed expectations. Greenway's ability to evolve with the ever changing healthcare requirements is a testament to their longevity commitment. When adding new staff, it is an easy application to learn.

Pros
Cost is reasonable compared to several others out there. It isn't hard to navigate. Patient charts make sense. Includes billing, scheduling and charting all in one. Scheduling works really nicely (though always room for improvements) Reports are very customizable (if you know what you're doing). Customer service has had rocky periods, but is greatly improved from recent years presently.
Cons
It isn't the smoothest system ever - too many customizations per provider available. Workflow is clunky, but manageable. Background setup is a pain. Reports don't translate to usable interfaces (like excel).

Pros
Prime Suite software makes it very easy to become a pro user in no time! It is easy to find your way around and the help guide answers any questions you may have. The Customer Community is excellent, you can participate in additional learning classes, and find answers to any problem area you are having without having to open a case, it can be fixed with a simple help guide.
Cons
I would like to be able to see the entire day of the schedule and all the providers on the screen at once.

Our patient volume and charge capture has grown by 14.5% since going live 4 years ago. The Achilles heel of Greenway is poor inside sales.
Pros
Highly Customizable. Tailored for Ob-Gyn practice and workflows. Extensive market partners capable of plugging into the system to further tailor workflows.
Cons
They nickel and dime you for every little add-on feature and don't allow you to cancel or change features and licenses easily.

Overall we are pleased with the solution. We have been on it since Sept 2011 and have 10 practices including 7 primary care and 3 specialties up on it as well as our Hospitalists and ED. We also have a lab interface that obtains results from our inpatient system. Sometimes getting support responses on clinical items has been difficult though we do have a network of people at Greenway who make themselves available to pursue critical items for us (thanks!).
Pros
For small-medium size offices/implementations like ours, we find it is a good fit and works well. Navigation is easy and intuitive. We are also finding that currently, the application has been at its most stable point since we've been on it. The v17.30 release improved things substantially.
Cons
It would be helpful if some items in the build could be customized by users. Such as the Clinical summaries and being able to pull lab results directly into a correspondence to name a few. The Wizard is also coming with ICD9 and not ICD10 codes.

This is a very dynamic program and covers all needs of a busy family practice. All EMR's take time and effort to make them work right, but we still feel we made the right decision to go with Greenway.
Pros
I love the functionality of this robust program. We are still learning to use it more efficiently and it continues to grow with us.
Cons
Setting up this program has a lot of time and decision making which is not always understood when you start. This is also why it keeps getting better though as well. Just wish we knew then what we know now.

Love that you can track just about anything anyone does. It is very detailed and fairly easy once you get through the learning process.
Cons
Takes quite a while to really understand and get the hang of the software and there are several ways to do most things. Too many 'clicks' for some things.

Pros
I have had a great experience working with Greenway. I was not hired with this company when they started this software so I was not present for the teaching of how to operate this program. However, any problem I run into where I do not know what to do, Greenway has made it so easy for me just to pick up the phone and call them. I get an immediate response and am always satisfied.

Primesuite is so easy to use and navigate. The customer service is great. Greenway also offers a lot of educational information and webinars.

I wish it had more of the measures required by CMS. I also think the required steps should be in red and that you couldn't close the chart out until they are done.

great functionality, audit trail helps streamline training (you know who made the mistake), wizard makes it easy to schedule, so many good features
Cons
printing from account screen is great from HIPAA standpoint, but no name and no account numbers makes it harder for employees
