I did enjoy using it, I actually used it in conjunction with a compositing software to create an animation for a corporate video explanation and it worked well, since my computer's processor is i3 is not strong enough, is recommendable to have a good graphics card with more than 1gb, i7 or up processor and good ram. I do still use it you can create white board animations in it and 2D animations good enough for a TV show.
Pros
- The biggest pro is that is super affordable, even if you are 10 years old you can buy it.
- The animation tools are powerful and you can do anything you imagine.
- You do have a skeleton system that allows you to animate the same way as the pro software.
- This software was used in professional studio animation by a 2D animation company, they made the software public.
- It has plugin capabilities for software that would enhance your animation.
- The plug in for speech does automatic lip sync animation.
- There is a big community that does use it, therefore you can get support.
- There are tutorials in Udemy.
Cons
- It is conversome you do need tutorials to understand it even if you have 2D or 3D animation Background.
- It is not as popular so you may not find information about it as easily.
- You do need a strong computer to run it, is actually heavy.
- You have to continuously save because there are a few operations that makes it crash.

Synfig for Educators/Designers

I have been using Synfig for over seven years and the product keeps getting better and better. The main guy (?!), [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN], has been tireless is keeping Synfig going and growing. He is a personal hero.
Pros
I use Synfig to create online courses. I'm not an artist so don't use the drawing tools a lot and my animations are generally quite simple. I really use it as presentation software. I do this because I believe that frequent changes and motion help greatly to keep learner attention. I can do so many different transitions and combinations that I can't do with other presentation software. And the price . . .
Cons
There are so many advanced features that I haven't taken the time to learn. Also it crashes too often. I would like to see more options for keeping custom setups.

I decided to try Synfig when getting into 2D animation and while I had to do a lot of trial and error, I managed to use the tool and get some good results.
Pros
Synfig is free and maintained by the community, provides a nice UI and a good selection of features that you can use to animate vector graphics.
Cons
It can be quite hard to get started with the tool and I've had to do a lot of experimenting to understand how it worked at first. Sadly, there isn't a lot of information about the tool out there.

As a vector desginer my role in the company is to create prints for frames and files for laser cutting and when looking for software for that I ended up finding Synfig Studio that does not meet these requirements but that showed me an opportunity in both new works, such as promotion our services through 2D animations. My initial intention was not that, but thanks to Synfig Studio and Capterra I was able to expand my range of services and helping the company not only in terms of vector design but also in promoting the store as a whole through the animations I could create with the software .
Pros
It is a free tool and has many resources. The software is available in several languages which facilitates its use. It is a softawre easy to work with layers and contrary to what many say, it is simple to work with and has very visible and accessible resources.
Cons
The downsides of this software are some tools that are not as complete as the tool for creating texts. In addition to creating very heavy files, the software presented some problems and crashed a few times, it was a few times but crashed, with lighter and less complex files I had no problem but with heavier files yes.
There are people who say that software is difficult to learn. Really at first it may seem a little complex but this is due to the fact that its interface is different from the competitors, this on the one hand is a little bad but it is nothing that time can solve.

Great 2D Animation Software!
Reviewed on 2018/11/06
Pros
It is a great solution for 2D animations. You can do a plethora of things, you can create a whole animation movie maybe just using this software. And it's FREE.
Cons
The learning curve is big, as it always happens with animation softwares. It would be great if more video tutorials were available.

A Simple, Easy-to-Use Tool for Vector Animation with Lottie Export

Synfig studio is a nice, low-cost option for assembling and animating small projects. The UI is relatively easy to understand, and basic workflow is simple enough for even users who aren't dedicated artists to grasp. The downside is that it doesn't come with the same depth of documentation, support, or consistency as paid platforms. We're still developing our grasp of the platform—we've recently started modifying some still images on our website to have subtle animation—but after the Lottie export feature is more fully developed, we see it as a nice platform for adding animation to our website.
Pros
Synfig is relatively easy to learn and use. If you have any experience with vector design and animation software, you should be up and running comfortably within thirty minutes. If you have no experience, expect an hour or two of documentation-hunting and trial-and-error.
Synfig is a good low-cost solution if you don't want to outsource work, but also don't want to spend time or money on higher-end animation solutions.
Synfig Studio's Lottie export feature is nice if you don't want to purchase Adobe products, and only need to do some small things
Cons
Not a very aesthetically pleasing program
Development can be less reliable and speedy than paid tools
Lottie export Beta is inconsistent

It is a nice software for small drawings or short animations, so overall I would recommend it for people who are insterested in more minimalistic animations.
Pros
It is a very simple and free software that allows the user to make vector images and animations. It has a few very simple funtionalities, but overall it can produce some nice results once the user learns how to apply them. I has free hand tools, as well as shapes, and everything can be modified regarding size, scale and form, so it is pretty versatile.
Cons
It is pretty difficult to learn how to use it efficiently, and it had quite a few glitches while I was using it (it shut itself down twice in 10 minutes because of errors, something that hasn't happened to me with other programs that work with vector images). It has nice features for a free animation software, but the quality of the end product is going to be very limited anyway.
