Routeware has been a great vendor, we look at them as a partnership of technology for our company. They are willing to listen to our problems and work side by side with our team to develop a feasible solution. We have been very successful working with the Routeware team to destining custom solutions for our needs. We find that once all in a room/conference call we have very similar and achievable goals.
Pros
The functionality and willingness for Routeware to integrate with other products even if they are a competitor. Also, the open mindedness from Routeware team to help identify improvements and development projects with their team and our team
Cons
Sometimes there can be a lag on responses, but this has gotten much better over the last 6 months

Overall, I would recommend this company be considered in your search, they have been a valuable partner in our program.
Pros
Routeware has proven to be an all around dependable operations program. It is a web based solution that easily integrates with back office programs. They offer RFID reading /capture technology for better GPS and asset management. The learning curve is not burdensome, for the luddites. The customer service is better than their competitors.
Cons
To be more competitive in this niche they will need to focus more on a customer billing option, that is web based. There are a couple items that take getting used to, such as carts not on a route will not be recognized.

My Routeware Experience

Our experience with Routeware over the recent years has been phenomenal. Everyone from the top down has always been up front about their product and have stood behind it. They have an excellent team. Their support group have been a pleasure to work with and have always responded to our needs immediately and efficiently. We're proud and grateful that they've provided my department with great equipment to help with our daily operation and continue to provide essential service to our community.
Pros
It is very easy to use. The software provides many key features in managing your daily operation very effectively. It's very efficient and cost effective as well.
Cons
We have run into some data issues of reading RFID tags and/or connection issues of sending or capturing data to and from the equipment in the field. However, these are minor issues which were resolved immediately. Other than that, everything else works fine.

Overall, the experiences I've had with the Routeware team have been great. Flexible in meeting our business needs and you definitely feel heard when and if there are any issues.
Pros
Integrates with our current back end system. Data transfers between both Routeware and our back end system, including date/time stamps of when stops get picked up, geocodes of there the driver is when they complete or "block" the stop, weights of every container transfer in real time from Routeware to our back end system and in the correct spot in our back end system. Pictures drivers take attach themselves to the correct stop and show up in our back end system. They also have an RFID option, which we are testing now, which also integrates with our scales, so we will be getting verification that the correct container was picked up and a weight all at the same time. Not only that, but Routeware has made it so when the tag is read, it selects the stop on the drivers tablet, even if it's not being done in the correct order, eliminating a part of the driver interacting with the tablet.
Cons
Support team is good when you call them, but when you're told you need to get a piece of hardware that didn't come with the initial equipment purchase in order to troubleshoot something, then that can be a little disheartening.
Pricewise, it's a bit on the expensive side and those with only a handful of trucks in their operation should steer away and stick with paper route sheets until you've got at least a 12-15 trucks in your fleet.

The folks are all very accommodating and the customer service is spot on. The system itself has very little issues running and is very robust. There are VERY few downtimes which says a lot considering all that goes into it.
Pros
The software allows me as a supervisor to have a vast amount of live information regarding crews in the field. I have a tremendously increased knowledge of how the crew is doing and trouble areas are identified much earlier in the day. It also gives me much more information to be able to identify my top performers and pinpoint trouble areas of my low performers. The crew finally has a way to communicate what they see in the field to the office staff answering calls. It truly is a game changer, and I do not ever want to go back to an operation that does not use it.
Cons
The "Geo Pins" in the beginning we extremely difficult to set and then fine tune. It took an immense amount of work to get the system up and running to a point that everyone was comfortable using the program daily. The crew is at first resistant to using and there is a huge learning curve, in order for us to get the information we want to fully utilize the system. User reports are a nightmare to sort through. The information available is seemingly limitless and would pay huge dividends but it is so difficult to navigate that people get frustrated and give up.

Our overall experience has been very good. Customer service is very responsive. The product itself does exactly what we needed it to do and has delivered on its promise to help us run more efficiently.
Pros
This system helped us get our arms around a very antiquated (paper maps) system that we had been using for years in a city that is growing steadily year after year. We have improved our efficiencies, our collections schedules, our customer accountability, and our ability to charge more accurately for the services we provide.
Cons
User reports are not as user friendly as could be.

Routeware has been an amazing tool for us to use over the last several years. The bread crumbing of routes paired with the picture taking ability of the tablets makes true misses a thing of the past. We stopped printing routes which saves us up to 15,000 sheets of paper today. Overall great experience.
Pros
The ability to track all of your collection vehicles and the collection of data that can be used to improve routing.
Cons
The user reports could be more automated and a best practices for reporting could be utilized.

The best part of the experience has been customer service. From [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and all the others who have recently assisted, the implementation has been easy and seamless. The staff is responsive and goes the extra mile to make sure the customer is pleased. We also are happy with the data we are getting. We started with 10 trucks. We will be implementing the software on the rest of our Fleet. I'd definitely recommend Routeware!
Pros
The data it provides. From armature counts, to truck weights, and everything between, Routeware has tons of metrics to analyze. It is also easy to use.
Cons
Preparation. The ideal situation is to have the routes and GIS coordinates recorded before the driver goes out on route, so as to not cause unnecessary waste of time for the operator. This process took several months.
