Exciting New option for Stat review and Analysis....

Pros

The graphical interface is much friendlier than competing products. The outputs are substantially easier to view and understand for a non highly technical audience. You can take the outputs and share them without adjustment to "key" decision makers. Ultimately these are the people that hold the key to success in our work.

Cons

Just a learning curve of how you navigate using the software.

I used very early versions (like7 or so) then there was some character encoding problem with my language which was recently solved. I will be using this software much more frequently now. I wanted this software for a clinical trial course I was teaching in Bogazici University. Maybe in future terms, now that it works perfectly across languages.

Pros

Most feature rich package, relative ease of use, lends itself to reproducible research (Markdown), R GUI but also has R editor, No need to know R, SPSS alternative, imports from and exports to most known formats, best user manual I ever read (skimmed), last but not least: excellent support team and a dedicated founder.

Cons

Menus may be overwhelming. This is hardly a con because the package is so feature rich, it cannot be presented with a simpler menu system.

Tried it back and forth with SPSS and R to test functionality. After one yr will not support it unless a big change.

Pros

Make it more like SPSS or Jamovi. Using files from other software. Using ‘some R commands’.

Cons

Poor editing or seting up variables. Not able to connect to R without a lot of problems.

Overall, this is a fantastic product. I use it frequently and find it seamlessly entering my workflow. All basic statistical analyses and many more complex ones are present, easy to implement, and work reliably. Huge datasets are no problem and just about anything you can do in stock R you can do with BlueSky.

Pros

- easy to import and transform data- surprisingly many features- R syntax is available and can be modified

Cons

- image export is awkward- sometimes slow to launch

Well worth a test-run for teaching and learning

Reviewed on 2023/05/16

Pros

Of all the menu-driven options out there that employ R under the hood, BlueSky Statistics has the most depth and breadth, and does so with the cleanest UI\UX . Installation is a breeze but I have multiple versions of R and also had XQuartz installed so cannot speak to the experience of novice users or those with no R installation.

Cons

The challenge with all these applications is that for an intermediate or advanced users\instructor, the learning curve is minimal because all you have to do is focus on understanding the UI\UX. But for novices, especially those who would be challenged by base R and the IDEs out there, well, this is easier but only so much because they have to navigate many options at the same time. In some ways, it would be better to have dropdown menus that allow you to choose, for example, exploratory data analysis, and then within the EDA dropdown you see options for visual options, etc. Similarly, maybe an option for testing assumptions, and then drill-down menus that give the user options for tests appropriate to a particular situation\need. This would also help reinforce to students the notion of when a particular test would be appropriate or inappropriate.

Bluesky Statistics, The Next Generation Statitistics/Data Science Software

Last year, i set up my statistics course to use my beloved SPSS for teaching linear models, only to find that some students had licensing issues. R/Studio-was not an option as the course was too comprised for us to have time to learn codes. On exploring the options, I came across Bluesky. Installation was straightforward, and within a week of review, I decided it was the right software going forward. I have now used it to teach several other courses and the students have loved it. All I needed to do is prepare a few videos showing data formats for each technique and how to in Bluesky statistics

Pros

It is well thought out combining the best features from both SPSS and R into a single packageAnd outstanding support team with technical understanding of both the software and statistical methods.

Cons

As with all software, Bluesky is still a work in progress. I picked up a number of issues when I used for teaching, but each of them was addressed in time to not affect my teaching, eg some of the issues were implemented in version 10.2.1 within weeks of my bringing to the team attention - students were so happy with this, so was I. We noticed that different students were having different dialogues in some of the menus (eg descriptive statistics) and some of the output, but we couldn't find out why. This created few challenges during teaching. However, it is us the users who can provide feedback about issues as it is impossible to pick up all bugs in any program during testing.

I was excited to learn that BlueSky was planning a new version that included a comprehensive Six Sigma module just in time for the new edition of The Six Sigma Handbook. Their team worked with me closely to include the most widely used statistical techniques and graphics. Their commitment to excellence was obvious.

Pros

I revised all of the examples in the Sixth Edition of my Six Sigma Handbook using BlueSky Statistics. Plus I rewrote all of the assignments for my online Six Sigma Green and Black Belt courses with BlueSky Statistics. BlueSky's team worked with me to include everything a practicing Six Sigma belt needs to get the job done. I'm certain that the product will continue to get better and better as time goes by.

Cons

There is a learning curve, as there is with any major statistics package. But once learned you will have a powerful set of statistical tools that you can take with you to new employers.

Its great software. I will watch the development of bluesky with great interest :)

Pros

as I said earlier, It makes R language accessible to people who don’t want or cant afford time to learn. It enables people to do complex functions with R, which would require tremendous amount of time to learn coding using barebone R. Bluesky stat converts all those difficult functions into drag&drop or "tick appropriate marks" interface in order to get same or better looking results. I love this about software.

Cons

In newest version, there is some components which can be improved in my opinion. For ex.: you can drag&drop items in "repeated measures ANOVA long", but you cant do it in "repeated measures ANOVA wide". It would be nice to have "plot individual values while doing regressions, as well as theme selections for 95 confidence intervals for graphical representations of models/data. In regressions (mixed) you basically have to create formula (same as in R), which is no improvement (some stat. software still make it even easier (NCSS or Minitab) to create regression with "point&click"). Maybe you will add optional "point&click" way of regression input for people who dont want/cant write formula, while keeping formula for statisticians/tech savvy people.

It's easy to use and quite powerful. It's very similar to Minitab, JMP, and SPSS, but much cheaper, even when you pay for their tech support.

Pros

Our team works with both programmers and non-programmers. BlueSky manages to keep both groups happy since it's easy to use, and our programmers can add their own features. Its program editor is not as comprehensive as RStudio, but its menus make it easier for most people to use. Since they added Six Sigma, quality control charts, and design of experiments, we have not needed to renew our expensive licenses for JMP and Minitab.

Cons

I wish the program editor allowed me to edit more than one R program file at a time. BlueSky lets you work with many datasets, and write to many output windows, but, oddly, they have not yet added this feature. They say it's in their development queue, so I hope the add it soon.

Pros

number one: is R based! I've been using other GUIs (JASP/jamovi) but BlueSky Statistics is more "robust" in terms of presentation. This is also a good resource to teach Statistics.

Cons

You took away the Market Basket Analysis, why??? I miss some other features like SEM (both CB-SEM and PLS-SEM), the oldest version was much more interesting in terms of get add-ons, to be honest I don't even know if you guys are providing add-ons in this new version. the menus are somehow confused, you need to be a little bit savvy on data analysis to use it, and this is not good comparing to others GUIs. I know the future is bright and you are working hard on it, but there's some easy changes like a more intuitive menu that will save you time on development.

BlueSky Statistics Review

Reviewed on 2023/05/11

Pros

BlueSky Statistics is incredibly easy to learn and use for individuals new to statistics, and has a nearly exhaustive suite of advanced statistical analyses for more experienced users. For me, using BlueSky Statistics is akin to using a combination of R and SPSS, which is exactly what I am looking for in a statistical analysis software. I have used the program for approximately one year now and intend to continue using it for the foreseeable future.

Cons

Mediation/Moderation/Hayes models are missing or need improvement. Additionally, I have attempted to convert some of my BlueSky outputs to R markdown documents, but have yet to be able to get them to run in R. The error messages say that particular packages are required, however when I attempt to download them in R, they are not available for download from CRAN. Subsequently, I would appreciate more seamless integration with R.

Experience with bluesky statistics

Reviewed on 2023/05/09

Pros

The fact that Bluesky offers multiple statistical options freely was impressive to me.

Cons

Seriously, I prefer the version 7 series to this newer but less intuitive version 10. For example, I was sad to realise that the HISTORY function in the 7 series was removed from the 10 series making it cumbersome when you need to recall previously used functions. Also, unlike the 7 series, you need to scroll to select a variable among a long list of variables during analysis; this makes me find the 10 series less easier to use than the 7 series. Presently, I am using the 7.50 version rather than the version 10 (although I have the 2 on my laptops)
