Sharefile is a great option for getting documents with clients
Reviewed on 2023/07/10
Pros
Fairly easy to use. For firms that use it often, it is a valuable asset.
Cons
When most clients only use it on an annual basis (tax time) it is a bit of a hassle to get them to get in the habit to use the program.

Overall our experience was very positive. Sharefile helped us achieve our goals of having a safe and secure way of sharing documents.
Pros
While working as an Account Executive, I was handling very confidential documents, including sensitive client information and contracts. Sharefile gave my clients the piece of mind knowing that anything we shared was secure and safe at all times. We loved how the platform was compatible with both Dropbox and Google platforms.
We also enjoyed no longer having to rely on PDF document sharing, and found that this centralized method was easy and efficient for both us and our clients.
We also found the ability to use 3 options to share files was awesome: including uploading from our computer, from our Sharefile account, or by dragging them.
Cons
Only downside of the platform was it was getting more expensive when you wanted more usability.

Might be more security than you need but that's probably better than less
Reviewed on 2024/02/22
Pros
I learned about sharefile when my company was consulting for a nonprofit that needed to have a security to protect client information. The ED also made us use sharefile for every file we shared even if it was just information about a staff birthday party. I realize now it was because sharefile is not cheap, he was really trying to get his money's worth. So if you need top level security, this is probably your go-to.
Cons
Really, just price. Other options aren't as expensive. Depends on what you need most.

ShareFile has proven to be very efficient, has a one-of-a-kind cloud-based management system, and falls into the category of a deep and excellent collaboration service. Both our document management efficiency and performance have increased through centralizing and organizing data, improving collaboration, prioritizing security, and providing mobility in the workplace. Some divisions benefit greatly from it, as it fosters the productive intersection of files. It has proven to be an excellent tool for storing and exchanging documents on a regular basis, so I strongly advise its use. Too much, in fact; I think companies that rely heavily on files would greatly benefit from implementing ShareFile.
Pros
Thanks to ShareFile, I can keep a lot of information spread across reliable documents and maintain a bird's-eye view of very comprehensive document management initiatives. Its compatibility with iOS and Android has made it possible for us to view and share files from any mobile device at any time. Because of how well its servers work, it is continually updated.
Cons
Sometimes there are issues with the software while it is running, and other times there is no clear pattern of fluidity established beforehand.

Overall, the ease of use is the best aspect of ShareFile. It integrates smoothly with Outlook and helps me manage my day to day tasks.
Pros
I like that I am able to quickly and easily share files from my computer. Most of my job involves receiving and sending files with various levels of confidential information. ShareFile gives me the confidence to do so due to their security and ease of use.
Cons
ShareFile can sometimes slow me down. It might just be me, but it seems to not always save my preferences. I have to go in and change them from time to time.

Storage hosting is easy with ShareFile
Reviewed on 2021/06/05
Pros
Sharefile is a cloud-hosted file server at its most basic level that replaces the need to host one within a workplace or business. It also allows you to offer download links to consumers to upload or download specific files, provided you have the proper rights. Because it is hosted offshore, it has the advantage of not requiring the office to operate servers or an Infrastructure rack.
Cons
You won't be able to view your file structure if your external internet connection goes down. If you're a remote worker trying to connect to a server hosted by your company, this can happen. Another problem might be a lack of bandwidth while uploading/downloading to Sharefile. It was also quite sluggish and complicated when we initially started using it, requiring multiple periods longer to transfer or explore than a self-hosted server. We also have at least 1-2 service interruptions every month, during which users are unable to conduct their job for a while.

I think ShareFile is fine. It's not great and it's so much more expensive than better options out there!
Pros
It was recommended highly as the industry standard and it does seem secure.
Cons
The expense and the fact that we constantly had trouble finding our files. I guess that ultimately that's on us, but our new software is so much more user friendly. Our staff and our clients LOVE that we are no longer with ShareFile.

Sharefile works for our needs at this time. It allows for us to be able to receive documents to and from external people, which is ideal when email inboxes usually have limits on the size of attachments. I do feel it is over priced for the amount we use it, and wish there was a different price for non-profit organizations.
Pros
We have multiple documents that we need to share with external people, or that external people need to share with us. This is a great platform to do both of these.
Cons
The platform itself is tricky to manage, especially for people who do not use it often. It is not always straight forward. And it is very expensive for a file sharing option. We have not researched other options at this time.

We put Sharefile in place without an IT admin or any IT specialists on hand. A group of four of us tackled the transition from our university's shared drive, handling the data migration and the set up of folder structures. Because of this, I'm sure we didn't have all file storage best practices down pat. I don't know that Citrix provides much in way of recommendations for how to structure the data; that said, we only purchased Sharefile rather than a more enterprise-minded solution. I am sure with heftier purchases that there'd be more consultation and interaction. For the several-thousand annual price we pay for a team of around 40, the benefits of Sharefile are immense. As with any system of this size that's cloud-based, there's a bit of a learning curve to get comfortable with the more in-depth features and functionality, but once we learned how certain aspects work, it's been great and has become a core part of how we conduct the sharing of files with clients.
Pros
Cloud-based and easy to understand web interface is nice. Onboarding and implementation was good and inexpensive. The check-in and check-out file features are nice, as are the abilities to share files with external users. The security and uptime as well as ability to resolve any system-wide outages quickly.
Cons
Some frustrations in features that I was expecting to be more fully fleshed out, such as workflows or ability to work on documents online without the lag of connecting with 365 and handling some of those handovers.

It cut down the time it took our workers to properly catalogue and upload video records. It also was easier to track down mis-labled records and put them where they needed to be. Having switched all our plants over to Sharefile, we are better able to view and respond to issues promptly. It's ease of use has left us with fewer errors in our documentation.
Pros
The web interface was easy to pick up on. We migrated to Sharefile from another large file sharing site that was falling short in what we needed for our multiple plants. Sharefile gave a central space to the large amount of video files we use for inspections and documentation of various equipment that we own and lease. Having a central space to record and track all inspections was fundamental to our business needs. What impressed me most about Sharefile was the cleanliness of the website and the ease of use that it exemplifies. It took less than an hour to get all our workers on board with the how to use the site and catalog our files.
Cons
The only real down side is with the gross amount of folders we have, you have to wait for the page to populate when you reach the end of the first set. Enabling a manual shortcut (like typing in a folder name to take you to that folder) would be a great benefit.

Overall it's a very good tool and does everything a company requires. We have been sharing files and collaborating with the help of this tool making professional lives easier. It has a good cloud storage and is completely secured.
Pros
It's very easy to use and doesn't require any prior knowledge. The file synchronisation is very good and it allows us to share files anywhere. We can generate links of the files and send them as email. We can set access controls to each file and restrict others from accessing it.
Cons
We can view zip files in read only format and is a drawback. The uploading speed of the files is very slow and needs to be improved. It is expensive when compared with other competitors out there.
