Great Software, Easy to Use

Pros
Our studio uses this program on a daily basis for all of our studio needs (registration, billing, reports, etc.). Its ease of use is great for someone just learning the software and even better for those who use it daily. DanceWorks is also a reliable program. In our 7 years of using DanceWorks, we have never experienced any glitches or errors while using the software. And if we ever have a question about how to do something (for example: running a certain report), the customer service is quick to respond. We highly recommend DanceWorks for all of your studio needs.
Cons
There are no cons to list. We have not had any negative experiences.

Pros
We have been using this software for many years and have been very happy. The team at Akada is great about taking feedback and trying to implement changes and customization. The customer service is very quick to respond and they are friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend Danceworks to other studio owners.
Cons
We really do not have any cons. We have been happy with the software and company!

Lost thousands due to their ineptitude for basic B2B services

Customers are forced to use their payment processor sister company, and working with that company...
Customers are forced to use their payment processor sister company, and working with that company is very difficult -- we tried to switch bank accounts for over a year and could not achieve this. Their efforts actually lead to us being double-charged for months, despite numerous hours spent on the phone in an attempt to resolve this. When we only paid one bill, we were threatened with termination of service -- not exactly what you want for critical operations. In the end, we were forced to evaluate if legal action was worth the time investment to recoup the money. Eventually we transitioned to other software as a result of this costly and emotionally draining experience.
Losing thousands of dollars aside, the software otherwise wasn't pretty or particularly intuitive, but it did generally work.
Pros
It generally worked as advertised. They encouraged feedback for the software itself, and the amount of feature support offered seems reasonable compared to competitors.
Cons
We lost thousands of dollars due to their payment processing and business practices. This more than negated any reasons for using it.

Pros
This is a very convenient software to use when managing invoices, costumes, scheduling, FOH, and BOH all in one place.
Cons
The website version of this software is far less user friendly.

Very easy to use. I can quickly see my balance due and the schedules for more than one dancer.

Pros
Able to see fees paid in for an entire season on one screen. Email notices are sent when money is due.
Cons
A nice to have would be a report offering for the general user of fees paid throughout the dance season.

Pros
So easy to print reports and see lists of students, classes, tuition etc...
Cons
You have to pay to purchase the product and then pay for customer support and the updates. A few times it stopped working and we had to pay $100+to get the updates and support to use it. I Don’t know any other company that operates this way. We stopped using it because of how challenging it was to keep up with it.

I have been frustrated with the customer service department for over 5 years and their hours are...
I have been frustrated with the customer service department for over 5 years and their hours are ridiculous. On top of that, we decided to convert to online to at least get us through the season. That was a giant mistake!!!! Their costume conflict feature doesn't work so I'm back to going through the list of names one by one. Also, the accounting portion decides to change numbers which is embarrassing when you know and have printed out a report and a customer says they paid by now the software says something different. Because the interface is so slow, I spend so much time waiting and waiting just to switch from screen to screen. I have seen multiple instances where kids are dropped from classes and put in other classes and I didn't make those changes! I'm am so frustrated and can't wait until the recital is over so I can switch to a functional more affordable software.

We have been using Jack Rabbit for the past year, and are much happier. We have kept Danceworks open while we transitioned, but I called today to cancel. They were not helpful in determining the best way to save my data for tax purposes, and didn't seem to care that I was leaving. They do not seem to be keeping up with the technological times that our customers demand.
Pros
We have used Danceworks for a VERY long time. The features worked for our business with the desktop version, and we found the costume/recital management to be very good!
Cons
Extremely disappointed with the online version! The search bar does not work well, it is VERY slow, and customer service doesn't seem to be as friendly as it once was.

We are very frustrated with the accounting problems this software has, but we are satisified with the report options and scheduling conflict features they have. It is definately a love hate relationship!
Pros
Recital scheduling/Conflicts is great. Class Scheduling/Conflicts is great.
Cons
Accounting has a mind of it's own, When you run reports you have to dbl check amount to accounts as sometime amounts differ. When charging montly fees it will randomly charge late fees to accounts with credits. We spend lots of time dbl checking!

The system when it works is awesome...support hours are a joke....8-4:30 in a program that mostly runs in the evenings is not the best. I enter support tickets and rarely hear back..we are shopping software at this time...sad after being with Akada for 15 years or so...
