Metabase is a great tool if you have analysts proficient in SQL and want a tool you can use to share out across internal and external sources while not requiring too much custom visualization
Pros
Ease of use - metabase is very straightforward to get set up initially and for new users to create basic items
Flexibility with SQL - metabase's best power is still working with it in SQL but the noCode tools are still good as well
Cons
Visualization customizability - there is room to grow on allowing more customization and variety in the visualizations

Overall, we have had a great experience using Metabase and it has really helped our teams to be functional.
Pros
What we loved most about Metabase is how easy it is for non-technical persons to query database and create dashboards. Our main goal of using Metabase was to equip everyone in our team with the ability to get insight into the data they need and Metabase proved to be very useful. We also loved how easy it is to create and edit dashboards, visualize data using different types of charts/graphs and manage collections of dashboards.Another great feature is how you can data from a variety of data sources including Google Analytics!
Cons
If self-hosting, it can be a real pain to set up. The self-hosting guide, while very detailed may not be ideal for everyone. We also had some challenges when connecting our data source as the documentation was not very clear.

Metabase is omnipresent in our company: everybody uses it everyday for one thing or another here. It was very easy to implement and we were able to offer great analytics quickly with it.
It is not the most advanced tool avaliable, but it offers amazing value as an open source product. It is difficult for us to move away from it because its very expensive competitors offer very little comparatively.
Pros
I love that Metabase is open source and extremely easy to implement. It also offer somewhat advanced features considering its simplicity (like email and slack integrations).
I also like the fact that it is a SQL first tool and doesn't require any specific knowledge to use. If you can use SQL you can use Metabase to amazing results and give your company great BI.
As an open-source product, Metabase is also constantly evolving: each update comes with new features that are useful for us.
Cons
I believe has efforts in building a metrics and self-service analytics layer (like Looker) but is not very well integrated with the product and seems very complicated to use.
Also some of the features have bugs, but most of the time they are fixed very quickly.
Reasons for Switching to Metabase
Tableau and Looker are both paid products, and extremely expansive considering what they offer over Metabase. It's also important to point out that Metabase is very simple, and may be more adapted to a startup environment. Tableau is very advanced and requires experienced professionals to build usable dashboards. Looker offers good dashboards and good self-service interface, but requires experienced professionals working on the backend. In contrast, Metabase is just a plug-and-play dashboard tool.- Industry: Health, Wellness & Fitness

I would rate Metabase 8/10. It's a simple but powerful tool for data visualization & analytics.
Pros
The most liked thing about this software is both tech & non-tech folks can use it seamlessly, in a hassle-free manner. You can analyze with the help of Query Language or you can do the same analytically manually, much like excel. It's easily integrable with other software via a generic API.
They have a self-hosted version as an offering as well, which you get for free :)
Cons
It gets too slow when all your team members start using it simultaneously. Many a time system chokes & keep loading for sometimes.
Reasons for Switching to Metabase

Pros
I love the fact that the software is open source and has all the functionality we need. The community around it is great and the self-hosted option is free! Our team loves using it, and we moved from an industry leader to this software with no complaints.
Cons
Because it is self-hosted, we had some administration issues, plus updating the software can be a pain. I know that some of these issues can be mitigated with the cloud-hosting option but the price makes it hard to justify.

I've been enjoying using Metabase ever since my company set it up for data analytics. I always choose it over tools like Amplitude (although Amplitude also has its advantages).
Pros
Metabase is highly intuitive and easy to use. You don't need to have an extensive knowledge of SQL; it's enough to know the structure of the data sources (an analytics database in our case). There are many ways to manipulate and organise data. Most graphs can be set up within a minute by using "questions". I find that the dashboards are very simple and intuitive as well, and it's easy to arrange data in the way you need.
Cons
Perhaps the only thing I'm missing in Metabase are sequences / funnels, but I don't use them for the majority of my work.

Metabase is by far my source of truth when working on data. Allowing me to make data driven decision

Cons

(2) Visualization could be better: I'm nitpicking but I feel like customization isn't really a possibility here and it could definitely improved

The overall experience is very good. As mentioned, we've used on-prem, but we switched to Cloud at some point. The migration was not complicated to be done by someone in our tech team, and all our questions were answered quickly. Cloud is not free, but the pricing is very good and it suits our needs.
Pros
I've initially used Metabase on-prem, which is actually free. With this setup, I liked the most the fact that the reports were showing live data. Also, it is very easy to use, even by junior data analysts. The interface is simple and not overly complicated.
Cons
The least I liked was that the sharing could have been done through public links which I consider dangerous because you have no control over who can access that data, as long as they have the link. Also, the option to build a dashboard, I've avoided it as much as possible, as I found it too complicated and with way too few options. Basically, I felt like it was taking me too much time to build a very simple dashboard.

Metabase's easy to use point-and-click interface has allowed our org to really empower users of all abilities to be able to dig in to data on their own, without necessarily having to have a background in the technical side of report-building.
Pros
Metabase has allowed our org to quickly and easily centralize all of our data in one place. The flexibility of being able to use either SQL or the easy to use point and click interface has empowered users of all abilities across our org. Metabase can be a great tool to serve up basic data reporting and visuals, so long as the data and results are basic.
Cons
Metabase's data visualization features are a step or two below the top competitors on the market. In addition, using more complex datasets and functions will slow down and cut into the reliability of the tool.

It has two main functions for me - converting data entered into Google Sheets by colleagues into a suitable format for us to be able to upload it as payment data via an SQL script. And secondly, for me to collect any data I require from our company database in Metabase - with an SQL script, I can find everything I want and I cannot express with words how useful that is for me every day!
Pros
I use Metabase to run SQL scripts to find data from our large database - which is itself stored in Metabase. Metabase is an amazing tool for storing vast quantities of data. It's integration with SQL is just fantastic, it makes it really easy for me to run a script to find virtually any data I need from our company's performance. I also like that I can then download it as a CSV with ease. I also use Metabase to run SQL scripts created by colleague's as part of our employee payment process - it works really well with google sheets for this. Finally, I like that it comes up with suggestions when I'm writing SQL about data columns and tables. It's really good and makes using SQL easy.
Cons
It can be so slow sometimes - quite often I have to use it late at night when fewer colleagues are also accessing it and it seems to go much faster then. This can be so frustrating, because I occasionally need some data urgently and this really impacts my productivity. It can also be extremely slow when downloading data from Metabase into a CSV file (sometimes then failing after ages of waiting), and even re-ordering columns within Metabase. Perhaps this isn't attributable to Metabase - but I also find the error messages when I run SQL through it to be utterly incomprehensible and they do not give me any real indication of what I've done wrong.

I use it for all sorts of data analysis. Mainly reviewing customer orders, displaying sales reports and reviewing accounts to make sure they are complete.
Pros
It's very easy to write custom queries and perform data analysis! Metabase provides a read-only front-end connection to multiple databases and allows me to write and save queries and questions, and then I can package them up into links and dashboards for my team to use.
Cons
It doesn't allow joins between different databases. It's not possible to use it as a data lake or data aggregator between sources.

Easy to use data base visualization tool
Reviewed on 2022/06/06
Pros
Metabase helps to get an overview of your SQL data. If you are working with a database that is self-developed, a tool like metabase helps you visualize, filter and make sense of your data. Company-wide and across our Organization, we use metabase to keep track of KPIs and manage our 1p data.
Cons
To get started, Metabase is not super easy to comprehend. If you want to create custom dashboards or filter views, some SQL programming experience is definitely required. Furthermore, the larger your database, the longer dashboards or filter views take to load. Page Speed could definitely be improved.
