An All in One System for your Production and Business Needs

Reviewed on 2019/12/20

Pros

I love that Onsite houses all our customer information, orders, accounting information and shipping information. Its literally the hub of our business. One of the features that helps me with daily information is knowing when the items have been produced and shipped that allows me to go back in and invoice the order. The shortcuts that you can set up divides your orders into smaller sections to caters to the information you need.

Cons

The number of licenses for the cost it should just be unlimited once you buy the software.

We have 23 users and the ease of the use of the program is key for ALL employees. It has been a reason for our continued growth.
The overall customer support has been fabulous, they continue to make the program better and updates are frequently passed along.

Pros

Really all of the features are critical in one way or another. The production management and product management are top notch. We can track down any post production as well as pre production issues with only going to a couple screens. Employees are your weakest link when miss information is in the system. You can even see what they have done incorrectly and fix it so books match and customers get the proper information.

Cons

The accounting portion is not a true accounting program. We have to make a few ledger entries to balance, but who doesn’t have to do that.
Ease from income statement to transactions visibility could be a little better.

Was difficult to use at first due to easily missed steps. A lot of info has to be converted to Excel to meet Company Financial Report needs. Have to have separate Payroll Software. The Receiving, Design features that tie in with our Business are excellent.

Pros

Fairly easy to use. Very good support & tutorials.

Cons

Does not include many Financial Reports in an easy to read format. Example: Cash Flow Reports, P&L that can include headings (Revenue, Liabilities, Etc), Balance Sheet. As a nonprofit having the ability to assign expenses to projects.

Overall we have been very satisfied with the program. We have been able to capture our internal costs to generate our company revenue. Training is minimal.

Pros

Shopworks is an easy program to train and use. The order follows the natural flow though your company departments as if works its way through your plant. The entry of the order also enters the PO and Invoice so it creates less touch and data entry requirements.

Cons

More ability to customize and build reports that work within your company needs would be great. The accounting is basic, super basic and needs an overhaul to keep up with large size companies using the program. We feel we will outgrow it within 2-3 years time.
Also to be able to set font sizes within an order type user wide. Small customizations would go a long way. Also to create quick keyboard short keys, it is a very mouse driven navigation.

It was clearly designed by people in our industry so the features are specific to the work we do, not a generic product that someone tried to squeeze to fit us. We've been using OnSite in the cloud so when we had to work remotely because of Covid we didn't miss a beat because we were already set up to work anywhere. It has made us more efficient and more profitable -- what more could you ask for?

Pros

OnSite is a full featured production, inventory and accounting software product that allows us to run our business very efficiently and with all the info we need in one place. The search features are outstanding making it easy to find old clients, designs and orders even from more than a decade ago. We love that every department: customer service, production and accounting can all access the same info and it eliminates running back and forth to ask questions as all the info is in the software.

Cons

The accounting module operates differently from quick books and doesn't have quite as many features. Running reports can be tricky. The learning curve for new users can be a little longer than we'd like.

On the business side of things, OnSite has helped us be much more accountable for the coming and goings of money. It is a great tracker for payables and receivables once you become comfortable with the system. It has an obvious lack for the financial side of the business and it very clearly lets you know there are no integrations with Quickbooks, unfortunately. If the two systems would partner, you would have the whole package for screenprinting companies.

Pros

It has organized our daily operations.

Cons

Once you work with OnSite long enough it gets to be easier to navigate but it is not straight up intuitive. Basic inputting skills do not seem to be considered by the programmers.

I used to have to use 4 different software to do what ShopWorks OnSite does. You ca go into ShopWorks and see exactly the status of each order for the whole company.

Pros

It tracks the order from quoting to shipping
No need for another accounting software. It does it all.
It has so many features.

Cons

I just find that sometimes there too many steps. Just a few minor things that can be better but nothing major.

Excellent at keeping shop organized and keeping track of orders in house. The system is very intuitive and as you get to learn it, it becomes easier to figure out. The program is super deep and can be frustrating in the beginning.

Cons

Not great for contract orders. The calendar is difficult to manage and our biggest complaint with Shopworx.

Overall in the screenprinting/embroidery industry this program works great for the company as a whole. I don't have anything to compare it to as we've not used anything else before Onsite, but it's made life a lot easier keeping track of orders using this system.

Pros

I like the ease of use of the product. It's easy to pull up an order and see the status and plenty of spaces for users to add notes. Basic order entry is quick and easy. As a customer service clerk, I can easily pull up a customers order when they call and get all the info I need- from if the goods are all here, art approved and the production date. I don't have to hunt in several areas to get the info.

Cons

There is a lot of clicking the enter button or clicking on tabs. I wish it was a little more advanced with less clicking ok or picking something and then hitting a select button. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but sometimes I have to hit the select button a few times.

We had several problems with a "glitch" in the software that took to long to resolve and went through too many people at OnSite. Since that has been resolved we are very happy with the software.

Pros

The information helped our ROI/bottom line, it helps us to make good decisions based on true numbers/facts.

Cons

The setup was time consuming and we did not get enough training to understand the value of entering everything in a proper sequence. Once you understand or take the proper training the value of the organized information/reports and history is amazing.

Overall I believe our entire company enjoys using the program. It is a 1 stop location for most of our Daily needs.

Pros

It is REAL time and Multiple users can do Many facets of our business while being logged in at the same time. Managing all of our orders, to Purchasing, to Receiving, Printing, Shipping and then Invoicing... program handles it all

Cons

Filemaker pro has some settings issues. There are also restrictions on column and row sizes that REALLY need to be reviewed and fixed.
We NEED to be able to create Better and more precise box labels and Packing lists for large orders. Currently this isnt available in the capacity we are looking for.

One of the best things about Shopworks is the checks and balances. I use it for purchasing and am able to match PO's with payable invoices to make sure I am being charged correctly. I love being able to find the info I need quickly with the many ways items can be searched. We use a lot of the features and learn more all the time. Every couple of years we have a Shopworks rep come in and teach us more. They are a great company to work with.

Pros

When we started using Shopworks in 2007 we were writing our orders by hand and using an invoicing program to invoice them when complete. We had no way to track the status of an order except to run around the shop and see where it was. Shopworks takes care of that with a couple of clicks. I like having the ability to get all the info on an order in one place. I can tell who entered it, if the goods are purchased, if they have been received. I can see what the design status is, what the production status is and what the payment status is. If a payment is made on the order I can see what type of payment and if it has been deposited. Shopworks has so much info at your fingertips. Their tech support is top notch and solves any issues quickly. They listen to their customer needs and continually update and improve.

Cons

It has quite a learning curve but once you power through that it's great.

Best ERP for the garment printing industry

We depend on this software daily, it's the brain of our business. Hands-down it's the best product in this space. Not as pretty/slick as some competitors, and there are some specific functions others do better (CRM, quoting, production scheduling), but overall this is the clear winner.

Pros

True ERP - sales integrated through purchasing, receiving, production, payables, accounting all the way to the P&L. Literally no one else in this space offers that. Lots of powerful features, and they have been upgrading it a lot more lately. They've been adding APIs, etc to help integrate with suppliers and 3rd party products, but "true" integration often requires hiring a programmer.

Cons

The sales quoting/CRM side of things is weak and a little rigid. Production scheduling needs to be built out more and modernized. The entire interface is a bit old and clunky. Not as clean/flexible/modern as competitors in terms of interface. Like SAP, with power/functionality sometimes comes more training and clicks than you might wish.

Reviewed on 2018/03/20

Pros

This software runs our business from incoming orders, the art process, purchasing, receiving, production, shipping and invoicing. We have two locations and 13 users that all run through one server in real time. It helps us plan how much to schedule on a given day and exactly were in the process we are, instantly, from any station. We rarely have problems with OnSite even though we use it constantly, but when we do have an issue the Tech support team gets back with us in a timely manner. The fact that this program was written by a screen shop owner/operator is really apparent as they have covered it all. Over the years there have been numerous upgrades improving the existing system & adding new features. We can not imagine running our business with out OnSite.

Cons

There is not much to criticize, but I would say that this program is SO extensive there is a large learning curve to endure. If purchasing new, you will need someone to come to your location to teach you and your employees how it works. When we purchased the program, it was much smaller in scope but it took us a long time to start using all of the features available.

Great experience.

Pros

Because I have backgrounds in other accounting database softwares like SAP and Oracle, I really like the FileMaker Pro database OnSite software. The Accounts Receivable Credit Memos, Debit Memos, Payment entry templates are designed for accrual accounting. Onsite keeps the Accounts Receivable data streamlined and categorized.

Cons

I heard comments about OnSite from people who have used QuickBooks before, and they keep on complaining that OnSite is too complicated, and it does not do what QuickBooks did for them. The FileMaker Pro database has powerful search capabilities that you can track different categories, for example, if you want to track refunds, just enter "Refunds" in the field, and search that field.
