I am very happy with Passbolt for its ease of configuration and use.

In addition, the team is very friendly and in the community forum they listen to suggestions to add to the platform and help you if you have any problems.

It is not an airtight system of which you know nothing about the equipment or how it is made, since it is open source and you can contact the team or the community for any problem

Pros

I like your workflow, making sure that the passwords are secure by keeping them encrypted until the end and only decrypting them on the client.

Also its integrations and features that make it easy to use and are quick to configure using its guides.

It's definitely worth using it even if you don't pay for the subscription and use the free version

Cons

If I had to look for a catch, perhaps it would be not being able to share passwords with other users of other servers or that you need to have an internet connection to access.

But to be honest, these are problems that all password managers have and without internet you probably don't even need to access the sites so I wouldn't know how to look for something bad since I love it

Overall, great - does what it needs to. More features than some competitors, and the self hosted nature makes it very good for my on-premise environments - definitely feel as if it's more secure than cloud/online based alternatives.

Pros

Open source - incredibly important to me, I want full control over the security, as well as knowing how it's setup. As long as your setup provides depth security you will be fine - very easy to setup but would prefer more intuitive deployments.

Cons

Sometimes, especially with passwords, you want peace of mind - although with self hosted applications you want lots of backups - I wish this was easier, and had the ability to automate it to a number of locations knowing it will restore 100% of the time.

Reasons for Switching to Passbolt

I use both personally - different use cases. Passbolt for online, passbolt for offline.

With the rapid digitisation of our business, Passbolt has made significant efforts to enforce end to end encryption on data both in storage and on transit. It has also doubled up as our favourite password manager .

Pros

In our diverse and agile environment, Passbolt functionality has perfectly suited our teams and data protection daily needs and requirements. Especially now that our business has rapidly moved to digital landscapes, we are grateful to have found a single tool that provide security and data privacy requirements. Passbolt as centralised , organised and enable us to share our credentials which enables us to collaborate securely. Passbolt is highly versatile and protects both on premises and cloud native resources. It has included robust authentication and encryption measures that operate even without internet access. This software uses privacy by design and provide standard security which we have adjusted the settings to match our requirements and risk exposure

Cons

In as much as making it so difficult to switch between accounts on web browsers and desktop apps is a security measures it is limiting to us with a very diverse data app. Again the desktop apps is only functional in our Windows powered devices.

We've been using Passbolt since the early days and like the solution in general. The team-focused features are perfect for sharing passwords in a team. The Passbolt support responds fast and is very focused on solving the raised issues.

Pros

Single Sign On (SSO) with Microsoft, Account recovery and the activity log are essential features to be able to use Passbolt in larger teams. Besides the browser plugin, there's also a mobile app and a Windows Desktop app for Passbolt.

Cons

More flexibility in storing credentials would be nice. Currently you can only store username and password combinations, sometimes you need to store additional information. You can store that in the description field but that's not ideal.
