Integrates seamlessly with everything
Reviewed on 2019/12/05
Very positive. Great alternative for start up businesses, or online businesses that can save a lot of time.
Pros
So you can use Stripe with invoicing and subscription software or you can build out your own system if you are a geek that is PCI compliant fairly easily. Almost everything has an integration option and if you get stuck with a problem for whatever reason you can log into the dashboard and usually figure it out from there, if you can't they have great support documentation and even a chat option. Compared to similar competitors you even save a little bit. I especially like their ACH fees, some of the lowest I've seen.
An added bonus is that I don't have to pay for monthly statement fees or pay the annual PCI compliance fee and surveys because they add that into the flat rate.
Cons
Only thing I'd like to see is an option to download statements in a PDF format like previous merchant processing providers, but rarely do I need it.

Easy Payment Processing: A Comprehensive Review of the Stripe App
Reviewed on 2023/03/12
Overall, I had an excellent time working with Stripe to handle payments. One of Stripe's best features was its simple to use interface, which made it simple to set up and explore. Furthermore, Stripe's API was quite configurable, allowing me to easily incorporate it into my current systems.
Pros
User-friendly UI: Stripe offers a sleek and simple user experience that makes managing payments, subscriptions, and customers simple for users. The dashboard gives you a brief rundown of the transactions, balances, and account activities. It is well-organized.Payment choices that are extensive and adaptable: Stripe accepts a variety of payment alternatives, including credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and others. It also offers a variety of subscription levels to suit different company needs and lets consumers customise their checkout experience.Processing payments quickly: Stripe's method for handling payments is intended to be quick, dependable, and secure. To safeguard against fraudulent transactions, it makes use of cutting-edge fraud detection and prevention systems. It also offers automatic card updates so that customers always have access to the most recent payment information.
Cons
Restricted availability in some nations: As Stripe's availability depends on the nation in which it is used, some companies might not be able to utilise Stripe as their payment processor. Businesses who operate in areas where Stripe is not supported may find this to be a disadvantage because they will need to look for an alternative payment processor that is accessible in their area.Complicated cost structure: For new customers who are not experienced with payment processing, Stripe's price structure might be perplexing. This is due to the fact that the fees are calculated depending on a number of variables, including the country of operation, the chosen mode of payment, and the quantity of transactions.

An Accounting Nightmare
Reviewed on 2023/03/09
It's great right up until you have match up any payment to an order, then it was a disaster. For some reason though, the programming team is in love with this software, probably because it was made by programmers for programmers, and they just give the accountants the proverbial middle finger. If any Controllers are deciding on a credit card processor, do your self a favor and don't even consider this one.
Pros
Everyone except the accounting team seems to like it.
Cons
I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain they are the only payment processor that takes their processing fee out of every transaction individually. Then they combine all these partial payment amounts and deposit them all at once into your bank account. This makes for an accounting nightmare. What was once a simple 5 min reconciliation, turns into a multi-day confusing and laborious task. They don't integrate with ANY accounting software well. What I ended up doing was creating a separate Stripe "Cash" account for transactions coming in, then booking the fees into the account, then transfer the batch back into the standard bank account. What was once a process of just identifying the method of payment and reconciling to your bank account, now involves two additional transactions, and extra account and a confusing reconciliation. Of course, when choosing a payment processor, you want to choose a

Intermediary tool between buyer and seller
Reviewed on 2023/03/10
Excellent tool whose main function is to serve as an intermediary between buyer and seller, in such a way that the buyer can receive his payments without accessing the buyer's bank details, allowing the successful implementation of the payment system in a simple way and thus guaranteeing all clients the security in the transaction, through which you can connect your website with a bank account facilitating payments on the internet
Pros
I like this tool since it is the most recent payment system in the free market through which you can connect to your website with a bank account. It is an excellent payment method with the sole objective of facilitating payments on the Internet, the difference with other payment platforms, the payment will always be made within the same website without redirecting it to any external window outside your business without having any negative repercussions, meaning that it stores user data securely in order to carry out quickly payments in the future
Cons
Everything that this tool offers is excellent, so I don't dislike it at all, since this tool allows you to implement the payment system in a simple way and thus guarantee customers the security of their transaction in a successful way, intermediary between buyer and seller

The only payment gateway any sole trader or business should need
Reviewed on 2023/03/01
Stripe has been a major tool within my organization. It has allowed us to set up weekly, bi-weekly and monthly payments from our clients very quickly and easily. There have been many obstacles in our organization such as taking payment from clients that Stripe has solved for us. Stripe is by far the best payment gateway for businesses of all sizes, including sole traders and small businesses.
Pros
Stripe allows for multiple billing options such as bank transfers, direct debits and much more, supporting one-off invoiced and regular payments for business or consumer subscription services. This feature is especially useful for us because we use this feature for setting up payment for our clients.
Cons
Stripe requires a slight learning curve and can take a while to learn if you are new to the software. Due to the vast amount of features and complicated tools, Stripe can be a little daunting for beginners to learn but as soon as we got the hang of the software, using Stripe was about as easy as writing our own name.

Stripe is a vital tool for our Donor Department, as more and more of our donors choose to give with a credit card or debit card vs. gifts via check. The interface is easy to use, and I love the "Reports Overview " on the home page. I wish our donor CRM tool offered such convenient "at a glance" reports!
Pros
I love the functionality. When our CRM software lets u know that a credit card gift was unable to process, I can go into Stripe and see how many times the system has retried the gift, as well as the decline code the donor's bank provided. Then when I call the donor I have a lot of info at my disposal.
As far as the gifts that WERE processed correctly, it's very easy to export them into a simple spreadsheet, which I then submit to our Executive Director.
Cons
My regret is that I haven't looked more into the functionality of the software. There are likely things that Stripe offers that we are not utilizing. A suggestion for the developers at Stripe may be to send their users helpful "Are you aware of this feature?" type emails / letters

Customers Are Food, Not Friends

Awful. If I could count on one hand the number of times I have screamed at my monitor seeing a response from my account manager, support; practically anyone at this organization. We were told we would pay 1x PCR fee per transaction by pricing analysts; and when it turned out that the architecture they recommended produces over 2 PCR requests per transactions? That even failed transactions are billable? No responsibility. The solution doesn't work the way it was advertised? "Check the contract".
The worst part is being treated like a child by flippant 20 something account managers who have been reassured that their product is perfect, their customers have no leverage, and that customers enjoy being treated like garbage. After doubling my volume in less than 6 months with the company and asking for a discount, they tried to dupe me in to paying the exact same rate I had been, but "itemized" in to new fees. I was about to sign myself up for another two years of drudgery until my questions were clarified. Outside of the technical organization, which is fantastic, this is an unorganized company headed by overly-empowered tech bro's who's mandate is to take advantage of you when possible, or, at the least, hold the status quo.
If you are anything above a small business, run, don't walk away from this company. The technical effort of integration will bind you to them, and once you're there, they've got you. It's time to eat.

Best transaction processing I've used
Reviewed on 2021/04/29
Really really good experience overall. I've used many different payment processors, and Stripe has remained my favorite, by far, for the past few years. I'll be sticking with them for as long as I possibly can.
Pros
Stripe makes it so incredibly simple to process all my client transactions, and provides detailed reporting on all the money coming in and out of my business. Stripe's interface for viewing individual transactions, where they came from, their current status, the processing fees associated with them, and any other details I could possibly want to know is just magnificent. It's incredibly easy for me to find out anything I need at any given time for any transaction, which makes it easy for me to communicate with clients when it comes to status of their payments. Plus, I always know exactly when money is going to be transferred to my business bank account, which makes planning for expenses that much easier.
Cons
Honestly, my experience using Stripe has been pretty much 100% positive. For my uses, there aren't many cons, if any. I guess processing fees kinda stink, but that's going to be a reality for any payment processor, and Stripe's fees are comparable to market standard with any other processor out there.
Reasons for Switching to Stripe
I really prefer Stripe's dashboard interface, how they present transaction information, just how much information they provide about each transaction, and also the customer-facing experience of using Stripe (simple to understand, automated receipts). Essentially, Stripe has proven to be the easiest, most informative, and most intuitive payment processor I've used.- Industry: Retail

A developer first payment gateway that will leave your sales team smiling
Reviewed on 2020/09/30
We have multiple payment solutions, some still in use and some now deprecated. Stripe allowed us to very quickly replace multiple other gateways and dramatically increase the code quality, staff experience and end-user workflow through its many benefits.
Adding Apple Pay, Google Pay and other payment types was a cinch and the SDKs and implementations of all these are industry standard and strong, but remove hours of development time for my team because of the neat and clever ways Stripe integrates them.
We have been using Stripe for several years now and I recommend it to business associates and indeed use it on new projects, because the overall footprint Stripe requires for the huge amount of features has really revolutionised our payment gateway experience both from a developer and staff point of view.
And the changes and improvements constantly evolve, too. In fact, Stripe is a brilliant place to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to regulation and data privacy because they're always on the ball with such matters.
Pros
I have to first commend the supoprt team from Stripe. Whether this is a technical issue, such as the developer support or technical issue, or the support for sales or management staff, Stripe put a huge emphasis on making their support second to none.
Developers can choose between tickets and email, but there is also an IRC channel to talk real time to actual Stripe developers. They're knowledgeable and extremely helpful. When you use the on-site live chat feature, you will also get a follow up email with any extra information and a log of the chat, with an invitation to get in touch if the issue still isn't solved.
The fact that it's developer first means you have an excellent set of powerful, reliable and well tested APIs. The sandbox is fantastic and the logging to help debug your software (in both sandbox and live) are truly unmatched in the payment gateway world. Every request, full request and response, and everything is deeply integrated, so you can quickly click between related data in a sensical way. The API documentation is beautiful and easy to follow and feedback and suggestions are taken on board and literally implemented more often than not if a problem ever arises or a good suggestion is made.
The dashboard for sales staff is easy to use. The interface is clean but the features are tremendously powerful. The fraud integration with Radar is a blessing to small and medium businesses that want a quick way to help keep themselves protected.
Cons
Having to setup multiple accounts, albeit sub accounts that appear in the same dashboard, to utilise multiple currencies.

Stripe has transformed a hard problem into a no-brainer. If making the connection between the online and the banking/paying was an herculean task in the past, it is nowadays a straightforward registration in their website, and most of the times an integration with your store/website.
Pros
The fact that is has an enormous amount of support from most software with integrations existing for anything that can support plugins (think wordpress), most programing libraries, ORMs, application development frameworks, etc. It is the de facto for online payments and that makes it really accessible from most common scenarios.
Their APIs and models are very clear and understandable, making it easy to integrate within most tools, and the fact that they also have plug-and-play solutions makes it even easier.
Cons
Not all payment options have plug-and-play solutions. It is, for example, possible to send your users to a stripe webpage with a nice layout to complete the payment, but this page is not entirely customizable. Not in style and not in payment options. For instance, you can't give the user the option to select a payment type, which is a very common use case in most websites and would be great if stripe would allow it.

If you are using Squarespace or Woocommerce, Stripe is so easy to implement that you don’t even need development knowledge to implement it. Payment processing rates are fair and instant payout options are huge for businesses that are just starting out.

Pros
Stripe has become implemented into many e-commerce plugins, especially in WordPress. This was the key reason why some of my clients started using it. It's fairly straightforward to set up. Documentation is not great but not terrible. And Stripe works well with many currencies. Also key to some clients.
Cons
Stripe's customer support took up a lot of my time and it felt as if they were making me repeat things constantly in order to even address the problems I had. Then, troubleshooting the actual problem was another can of worms. I spend easily 10-20% of my time every month talking to some kind of technical support group for a number of web services - hosting, domains, software developers, freelancers. Sometimes more than that. It's a gift when the communication goes smoothly because that's just the first part, the important part, in fixing the problem. It's not necessarily a matter so much of language problems - one of my favorite companies is located in the Baltics - English definitely not their mother tongue - but somehow they are still able to provide stellar service. Stripe does not do this.

Take payments and security to another level
Reviewed on 2022/04/01
Since I have been using stripe, my company has projected an image of more prestige, security and professionalism.
I love the comprehensive metrics and projections features it has. Transaction data is clearly presented at all times, which is a peace of mind for the client as well as for me as the owner of the company. Now I spend less time understanding a payment process in case the customer has a claim. Above all, the best thing is the robust security.
Since I integrated stripe to all my e-learning projects and platforms, my business has increased conversion. And as a bonus to all this, in order to implement stripe in some projects, I had to improve the structure of some of my sites so that they work better for the client and the information is clear.
They helped me in this process through the customer support service, and with this my platforms now comply with all the legal requirements to be able to sell at a more professional level.
Pros
security is extraordinary
lots of useful information in case of payment disputes
shelf life projections by customers, that's great
options like radar are the best
professional image for my company
excellent integrations, another strong point of stripe
top notch customer service and support
integrating stripe the customer never leaves our platform or application to make the payment, so it is perceived as something more secure, it is not confusing for the customer, and this increases the conversion rate.
Cons
it can take a while to get used to so much data
they are a bit demanding when it comes to allowing integration to a site, which can be a bit annoying at first, but this is not really a con, rather it sets a standard of quality and professionalism, making one like business owner also becomes professional.
Some fees can be a bit high compared to other platforms, but weighing the fact of stripe's impressive security, integration, data that's pure gold, it's immediately clear that it's worth integrating stripe into all of our Projects.

I did not had any hard time with Stripe though , but things I remember which I personally experience twice is past and I least like that about stripe .It was the Stripe customer service /technical desk who generally assist business users to resolve User IDs / Individual Terminal Access Glitches while facing problem . I wonder if such happens once than I can take it as individual exception but unfortunately it happened twice i.e, for a simple resolution it took 48hrs to resolve a simple problem and most importantly the Customer Service /Technical Desk was not even liable to do the initial or basic checks simply because the Stripe Policies does not allow and I I did not like it at all.

Easy Integration for a Variety of Content Management Systems
Reviewed on 2019/09/25
Customer service is excellent, the product itself is excellent, and it fulfills all of our needs and the needs of our clients.
Pros
Stripe is by far the most secure, easy to use, and easily integrated service of its type. We work with organizations both large and small, and whether a client has team members who are going to be working in their CMS after their website is designed or not, Stripe is the best option. It is easy to use, even for beginners and even those who are not designers and developers, and the fact that it doesn't allow hackers to add code to the checkout page protects our clients better than any other system we've seen. We recommend a Stripe integration for every single client who has an online store or sells any number of products online.
Cons
It does require some knowledge of front end development to integrate with many CMS platforms, even Wordpress. It's not necessarily the easiest to setup, even if you know your way around Wordpress or drag and drop design platforms. The only other downside is that checkout forms are not customizable. This is actually not a bad downside for us because the reason they are not so is due to the inability to add custom code to the checkout form, making it more secure. Trading customization for security is a no brainer on our end, but if you are an agency with a picky client, or if you just really want a custom checkout form, Stripe won't work for you. Then again, if you're willing to have your customer's credit card information stolen just because you refuse to use a templated checkout form that looks modern and is efficient and easy to use, your opinion sucks anyway.

Best payment processing gateway yet
Reviewed on 2022/05/13
Nothing short of amazing. I've used Stripe since at least 5 years ago and to see how far they've come today, it's only going to get better.
Pros
Stripe has always been known to be ahead of the payment processing game and the new features that are rolled out every now and then just continue to solidify their position. I like their API access and documentation most, compared to other payment processing gateways.
Cons
The dashboard can be a little cluttered and overwhelming for non-tech savvy users. I particularly face this problem with business owners and accountants when getting them to use Stripe as an online payment processing gateway. But when they get used to the UI, they never look back.

Terrible policies and unnecessarily expensive
Reviewed on 2020/04/30
Easy to use, but that one positive note comes with terrible policies, very expensive rates, and awful customer service.
Pros
It is commonly used and easily syncs with many major online sources. The unfortunate side of that is they have terrible policies and are expensive on the processing fee.
Cons
The "Dispute" aspect of this platform is a joke. The processing fee is also ridiculously high considering how poor their customer service is. We have had 5 occurrences already of clients "disputing" payments and the client wins every time. The frustration grows knowing all of the "disputes" of clients came after our company carried out the service, the client got what they wanted, and we did not get paid for it.
To add to it, these disputes that favored the client after review, came after our company supplied Stripe with signed contracts, proof of conversations on the topic/invoice, and proof of the client utilizing the service. All for nothing after we charged the client and less than a week later they "Disputed" the service, won and got all their money back resulting in our company being out the revenue and having to personally pay for the service to our employees.
We are an event venue so this is extremely unfortunate because all 5 of these occurrences of disputes that we lost have happened after the event and service was provided to the client.
I would not recommend Stripe to anyone from our experiences. Our company changed our policies and is no longer using Stripe due to these experiences and losing thousands of dollars due to their loose policies.
