Miro is like magic! A powerful software that can help unlock new possibilities

Reviewed on 2022/06/29

Miro has to be one of my favorite software discoveries in the past ten years. It has tremendous potential to change how you work and achieve productivity.

Pros

I love working with Miro solo but it's even better with a collaborator who really commits to making the most of the features that are available. It has made me feel so much more dynamic in my communication and collaboration.

Cons

Miro limits free accounts to just three boards so it's not as easy to attract new users as I would like to because people are less willing to learn a software that they can't use much on their own without paying for a subscription.

Excellent multipurpose software with functional features

Reviewed on 2022/05/16

An array of tools and templates for specialized purposes make it simple to get started, and it's simple to find what you're looking for when you do. A fantastic user experience on every device, regardless of operating system, is ensured by being platform agnostic. It has allowed us to hold more successful seminars without depending on countless physical post-it notes, and to cooperate effectively while having a remote team and customer base.

Pros

Any product designer, UX designer, UI designer, or member of a remote design team should have a copy of Miro on hand. It's a great tool for design thinking, brainstorming, and whiteboarding. Their great templates will also assist any novice get started and hold fruitful meetings.

Cons

For freelancers on a tight budget, Miro might be prohibitively expensive. For established agencies, though, this is ideal. Even though a voting tool was recently added to the product, a wider range of interactive elements would help us better engage audiences and create better workshop experiences.

Comprehensive Miro Review

Reviewed on 2023/02/08

Overall, I was impressed with Miro and the impact it had on my team's collaboration and productivity. The software effectively solved complex project management and collaboration challenges, improved team productivity and communication, enabled efficient ideation and brainstorming sessions, improved visualization and organization of ideas, and enhanced remote collaboration and team engagement. I would definitely recommend Miro to other teams looking to improve their collaboration and project management processes.

Pros

◉ User-friendly interface: The interface was intuitive and easy to use, allowing me to quickly navigate the platform and find what I needed. I was able to create my first project in just a few minutes.◉ Versatile collaboration and brainstorming tools: The variety of tools available made it easy for my team to collaborate and come up with creative solutions. We were able to increase our team's ideation output by 25% in our first month of using Miro.◉ Seamless integration with other software: Miro integrated smoothly with the rest of my business processes, which saved me time and increased my team's overall efficiency by 20%.◉ Robust real-time collaboration features: The real-time collaboration features were a game-changer for my remote team. We were able to conduct virtual brain-storming sessions that felt just like in-person meetings and saw a 30% increase in team engagement.◉ High-quality templates and resources: The templates and resources available in Miro helped me get started quickly and saved me time compared to creating everything from scratch. I was able to create my first project in half the time it normally would have taken me.

Cons

◉ Limited customization options for templates: While the templates available in Miro were helpful, I wished for more customization options to better suit my specific needs. This was a minor issue for me but could be a larger concern for others.◉ Occasional lag in real-time collaboration: Although the real-time collaboration features were largely effective, I did experience some lag from time to time, which impacted the overall experience.◉ Steep learning curve for some users: Some team members found Miro to be overwhelming and had trouble getting up to speed. However, this was largely due to their prior lack of experience with similar software.◉ Need for a stable internet connection for optimal performance: Miro relies heavily on an internet connection for optimal performance, which could be an issue for those working in areas with limited connectivity.◉ Limited export options for certain file types: I found that Miro had limited export options for certain file types, which impacted my ability to share and access my projects outside of the platform.

Best way to visually collaborate with clients

Reviewed on 2019/12/17

Pros

It helps give us a birds eye view of the projects we are working on. That allows for clients to easily understand what we are doing and give us feedback.

The ability to use colours when adding comments allows us to start associating colours with certain messages which allows one to know if there are things to be attended to with just a glance.

Cons

It tends to require a lot of CPU resources which can be an inconvenience because one tends to use it in conjunction with a design software like sketch/photoshop which also require significant CPU power.

Miro helping to increase productivity and efficiency

Reviewed on 2023/01/12

It's a fantastic platform for collaboration amongst many stakeholders, including UX, POs, and many more. It has been tremendously helpful to be able to naturally depict thoughts and concepts and to utilise Miro as a whiteboard for several reasons. Our project management procedures have been made more efficient and streamlined. The collaborative capabilities offered by MIRO, however, allow people of diverse backgrounds to contribute ideas without necessarily speaking out.

Pros

It is fairly easy. It runs well and usually has an understanding of what we are trying to accomplish. We often communicate with our personnel and concerned parties using Miro. Additionally, the frameworks built into the software assist organise meetings more quickly. In addition to allowing you to express your creativity, the vast selection of activity templates, marker colours, custom icons, voting, comments, CMS integration, and document collaboration enables you to run workshops successfully. With the diversity of tools and plugins it supports, Miro can assist you in expressing them. It is also straightforward enough so that you won't feel overwhelmed and can concentrate on your job.

Cons

The projects' lack of organisation is what I detest the most. The search is also not optimal as there is no hierarchy, tiers, folders, etc. The administrative dashboard and user organisation in Miro have also been a problem for me. Although the programme is typically simple to use, I have encountered difficulties navigating it when working with many Miro accounts. However, after showing teams the value of whiteboarding, they frequently become more receptive to it.

Great tool to gain insight and share ideas

Reviewed on 2023/02/24

MIRO is overall a perfect tool to sort things out and structure your thought on topics. Its a true eplacement of traditional whitbords in your office.

Pros

Beside of the great canvas and add as much items as I want to it, the tools helps me to get an overview. This is exactly what I needed from a broad view over all items that matter to a project to all the details that made up the context.

Cons

SOme items, like the notes have its short commings. What I miss for the analysis of complex structure is a type of focus area or magnification area, where you can draw tny details, which are not needed to keep focus on the overall structure.

One of the best products for collabration

one of the functions which I liked the most is about simultaneous collaboration in projects, people can easily share their ideas in real-time together which makes it perfect for remote work.

Cons

the pricing for this product is higher than other competitors so if it was a little less expensive I would say it could even have more customers.

Helping me to be a better visual planner

Reviewed on 2023/02/15

I'd always struggled with getting started when it comes to creative content and Miro's templates helped me overcome this challenge. I started using Miro as part of brainstorming and collaborative meetings and I always admired how easy it feels to work together as a team remotely.I recently created the first projects on my own based on existing templates and I'm now using it for strategic planning and sharing the marketing roadmap with the overall team. It really simplifies the process and it makes me feel more comfortable in creating quality results.

Pros

I love the templates. I sometimes struggle with getting started on a blank canvas and the numerous templates helped me find anything I need for different use cases. The collaboration features are also very useful and it makes remote brainstorming very smooth.

Cons

I'd love more guidance on how to get started. I know they are already providing a lot but as a non-designer, I'll take every help I can get.

An app I've been looking for, modern diagramming done extremely well

Reviewed on 2021/10/16

I'm a designer by profession and am used to design tools, and this feels like one, but one that is very easy to grasp and seems to know what it is that you want to do. Definitely the diagramming app that I've been looking for the past 2 decades. Thank you Miro team for making this, the other apps before were just so clunky.

Pros

It's very intuitive. It responds in a very fluid and responds in ways that it seems to know what you're trying to do.

I've used other diagramming tools for the best part of this century, like Visio, Lucid, Omni, and all of them were just so clunky and restrictive, they have very strict ways of working and are very 'enterprise' orientated, like made for The Office, and so I would use vector apps like Sketch, of Flash (before) in order to make diagrams. But then, I stumbled upon Miro, and it was like dafaq? This is the app I've been looking for, and it worked in ways that

Cons

Honestly, nothing. A few small things, but they that have been ever so slightly irksome that I fail to recall.

Tracing paper and pen in a virtual environment

Reviewed on 2021/10/05

With remote working, collaborating on complex design related problems became much more difficult. Screen sharing with snapping images and marking up was a quick fix, however this was slow and a 1-way communication.

MIRO solved all of this and became the virtual equivalent of rolling out tracing paper and having a handful of people developing the design simultaneously.

I think that it would be useful to enhance the sketching experience further. If there could be a virtual tracing paper with variable opacity to contain (group) a series of sketches similar to a frame this would be useful. This is currently possible with multiple objects but it becomes unwieldy. This would also allow the development of a simple layer system.

Partial deletion of a hand drawn line would be really helpful.
(I have in mind some of the user-experience of the Procreate sketching iPad app)

Pros

I found MIRO intuitive with no training necessary. You can invite collaborators effortlessly with only browser access required. This has been transformational for me during remote working.

Cons

When boards become large, the download process can be a little slow and it sometimes trips up with downloading the content that is currently in the viewer's screen. This can easily be resolved by archiving and starting a new board.

Perhaps an option of local caching some content could be useful.

An enhanced digital whiteboard with the freedom of a whiteboard allowing you to do so much...

Reviewed on 2021/04/22

Planning and organizing, decision making, collaboration, brainstorming. I finally have a planning tool that works for me.

Pros

I've looked far and white for methods to do my project planning and tracking. Using the visuals Miro offers me is beyond anything i have found thus far. I finally get my plans in order and get more things done. Both for myself as for my team. Use it heavily to visualize dependencies, use size to signal importance, colors for status (to do-working-done) and use tags to mark technical debt. Zoom out to have the bigger picture like the decision trees, guiding principles. Zoom in and find the details for the daily job, mark your technical debt and more.

Cons

Because the interface doesn't get in your way, starting might be a little hard. I've had no problem with this myself, but found colleagues requiring some time to master Miro.

Migrating the team from Visio and Edraw was easy as the user interface was very intuitive. I have also used Lucid in the past and am happy to say there is little chance I will ever leave Miro

Great Way to Visually Collaborate and Link to Specific Spots in a Page

Reviewed on 2021/10/07

We have some basic need to communicate the UI designs in our web-based app we are developing and doing this visually, dynamically across our plant is essential in the speed and accuracy of development as well as having the history as we are in a most highly regulated Healthcare industry.

Pros

We really like the way to visually collaborate among our develop team members. This so far is the most advanced in many drawing type products I have used before. Also enormously powerful is that about any object on the page can have a link. This means that I can pin-point and lead people to the specific spot or from another page when the pages get huge.

Cons

Sometimes the product slows down when we have many objects on the page. The "app" is great, but it is hard to use with multiple oAuth accounts. There seems to be no effortless way of completely logging out of one oAuth account. We had the same issue on our own app we developed, so this is a common issue, but that must be addressed.

Awesome tool for teachers!!!

Reviewed on 2016/10/29

I'm a middle school teacher. I use the boards in two fashions: 1) for student collaboration, and 2) for displaying class notes, videos, distributed materials, and board writing. In my school we have a SmartBoard (aka - DumbBoard). The DumbBoard software is slow to load and wastes too much time, so the RealTimeBoard became a solution.

For student collaboration, I have and idea section and work product selection. Students can determine if the final work they upload is accessible to me or other members. They can share comments, photos, and general ideas. For classroom shared material, student can vote. I find it best to visually think of the processes and what you want the kids to create. Then create a template board. Finally, create your classes. The import of excel or google sheets lists make it incredibly easy to add student names to the boards.

For my class notes, I typically create a line across the middle of the board. Below the line is the homework section, above the line is the classwork. I create a boxes with the daily objective (Students will... in order to...) and upload the materials (view only via google docs). I can insert youtube videos and other documents (even pdfs, Microsoft docs, pictures, web pictures and websites, and charts). I create a frame around each of the lessons so that when students are absent they may view the materials. When they come in and tell me they didn't go to the site, I hand them a computer so they can visit the site. Students who are absent, getting tutored outside of class, or parents wanting to see what it is we are doing can easily access the public board, which does NOT contain any student information.

Pros

-Free for Educators to use with students
-Works extremely well with Google Suite, Microsoft 365 Business
-Great alternative to SmartBoard
-Pen feature is very smooth

Cons

-Takes some getting used to.
-Can have a Prezzi, dizzying affect
- Users need to be taught how to use

It helps teams see how their ideas fit together and plan well.

Reviewed on 2023/02/08

We were able to collaborate more effectively using Miro, and it is also great how transparency has been enhanced when making important decisions; in addition, workflow charts have become more appropriate to reality and implementable as all members participate in preparing and reviewing them.

Pros

Miro is one of the best tools that keep the team cohesive, and collaborative effectively when planning new projects or making decisions, as the Miro whiteboard provides us with a wide space to collect ideas, combine them, and display them in several ways easily. We can also distinguish the team’s inputs with colors or using different shapes so that it is easy for us to review and comment on them. I like very much the presence of a set of ready-made templates that cover all the needs of brainstorming in addition to preparing workflow charts. I also like Miro's responsiveness, which gives us the flexibility to collaborate in real-time, especially when sharing remotely. It's also great how Miro can add and coordinate sticky notes, shapes, images, and videos, making the panels more tidy and comprehensive.

Cons

Miro is an ideal and responsive tool that is free from any complications. Subscribing and adding new members is very simple. In addition, the strong integration with the rest of the tools that we use daily provides us with an integrated work environment.

Miro - online service of my wet dreams

Reviewed on 2020/01/11

I work on product marketing and menu development in fast growing international Dodo Pizza chain.
Miro help me to:
1. Manage our menu position, their relations, groups of product
2. Manage the ingredients (photo, price, descriptions)
3. Create new recipes - much easier when you all ingredients visually in front of you at the same time
4. Create a marketing campaign for products - marketing materials and references, photos, videos, collages for designers, marketing channels and the actual pictures of other stuff that will be used in that channel
5. Design a new restaurant - all visual references for decoration, equipment, layout of the kitchen, all inventory references.

New store+menu+marketing projects are HUGE, Miro helps to gather all the small details together, keeping all my team members on the same page at the same time.

It is absolutely vital to have all visual and strategy mindmap info in front of your eyes, and to able to update it easily. Miro is the best platform for this.

Pros

So lets start with what I like:
1. Miro is the best thing for mindmapping projects and strategies
2. Easy to add multiple images and make some small but necessary editing
3. Super cool for vusial analysis. My job includes menu analysis of QSR chains, Miro make it much easier, a billion times more efficient tool that others

Cons

Cons:
1. Tables are available but editing mechanics is 3/5, need to be improved.
2. Hard (or even impossible) to add videos on your Miro board, thus its not easy to make fully packed reference board for let's say your product or project, or even presentation

The best tool for collaborative work

Reviewed on 2022/05/24

Miro is a jewel of a platform, I used it in my school time to organize collaborative projects and it never failed me, I always had a tool at hand that helped me and my group to maintain productivity. Miro works very well from any point of view, from a businessman, a student, an ordinary person, etc. Miro is an excellent program that you should try because you will surely find something that will be useful for your life.

Pros

Miro is an excellent platform for productivity and collaborative work, it has many features, but I think those two are the ones that best define the platform. It has a pretty nice-looking interface, very optimized, you have all the functions from the home page, that's good because it helps save a lot of time. There are many templates available to the user that allow us to save a lot of time and work. Group project management it's excellent, it's where Miro shines because it has an impressive suite of collaborative tools, from task management, time management, brainstorming, calendars, diagrams, and everything. Miro is a 5-star platform that whoever you are will surely find a use for it.

Cons

The price to get all the features can be very expensive, this is a hindrance because the free version has many limitations.

Miro is my pandemic best friend.

Reviewed on 2021/04/15

I've been using Miro actively for about a year now and I can say that it's definitely upgraded and changed its game since I started. I've been openly recommending it and talking about it with peers and colleagues. It's a great tool and I can't wait to keep using it.

Pros

Miro is a great whiteboarding tool that is, at the core, easy to use and navigate. And, it's a joy to explore the tool as well. It's very friendly in a sense that it doesn't intimidate new users (as platforms like Adobe or Figma might), which is great when you're collaborating with people who aren't from design teams. The implementation of the miroverse and being able to explore a multitude of templates has been one of my favorite updates thus far. It's allowed me to understand and see the potential of Miro beyond what I tend to use it for. I find the timer tool (with the music update) to be extremely effective when I facilitate workshops internally or with people from other teams as well. The snap to grid tool is awesome.

Cons

I don't know why I can't increase font-size beyond 288px. Sometimes when I'm whiteboarding and really in the zone, I don't think about my dimensions or sizing and I get really frustrated when I size up the text and the textboxes elongate and enlarge automatically. I also don't know why I can't make the text inside sticky notes bold, and why there are only two font options for them.

MIRO for big Team Meetings

Reviewed on 2023/01/31

I like it a lot! Maybe some features missing, like adding Excel sheets directly without converting them and some stuff like that. Or beeing able to connect PowerPoints and cutting the frame .. i would say the most that is missing is the fully integration with other programs used.

Pros

Miro offers an excellent online platform to organise various methods and meetings in the workplace. It offers the possibility to create a clear structure for online meetings. You can add a variety of graphs, key figures, tables and everything else you need. For example, KanBan cards can be used to assign tasks to specific people, flowcharts, tables and many other possibilities. It is the perfect tool to create a clear structure in meetings and get a clear overview of the key figures and important information you want to show (by directly linking Excel, PowerPoint, Word documents, online links, websites...).

Cons

Sometimes it is a little bit tricky to move things around, get used to the software and the way it works. With a little bit of experience you get used to use frames, block the content and manage that other users don't move things around and change the board.
