About Microsoft Viva Engage

Microsoft Viva Engage is an enterprise social network with a full range of features to improve company-wide communication. Yammer allows users to create groups, providing a collaborative workspace for teams to organize project deadlines, share files and gather feedback. Businesses can use Microsoft Viva Engage to identify experts in the company and find the relevant people within the Member Directory. Company profiles can be setup for each user with a photo, basic info and and information on skill sets.

Microsoft Viva Engage can be used as an instant messaging device, with a place to conduct private conversations among 2 or more people. Users can see who is online at any time and use the @mention function to loop in more people to the conversation. The Microsoft Viva Engage inbox provides a place to store and organize all communications. Follow all @mentions, group announcements, conversations and private messages. The Priority Messages tool allows users to deal with the most important communications first.

    I have been a very happy yammer user ever since it was implemented in our organization.
    It helps enhance productive communication and collaboration among employees from various departments
    Knowledge grow multiple ways when it is shared. Its integration with other Microsoft applications is seamless.

    Pros

    The clean user interface is easy to navigate and the feed is intuitive
    Great tool to notify important announcements within organization like new product launches , regulatory changes and emergencies.
    It helps to enhance leadership engagement, from top management to all employees of the organization
    Secure platform to discuss about confidential projects among team members.
    Poll is another great advantage of yammer, entire company can participate in polls

    Cons

    Though the user interface is familiar, sorting posts by date requires bit of effort
    Additionally, searching for a topic is difficult
    The mobile application needs improvement and the user interface needs a revamp

    if you do not have intranet and you want employee engagement tool then this will work great with subject to lot of campaigns for employee onboarding and engagement with yammer

    Pros

    Very user friendly, doesn't required employee training or guidance on how to use it. so many inbuilt features for social sharing and employee engagement saves tons of development work for custom intranet portal

    Cons

    not much tightly integrated with other O365 products, it makes difficult for admin to onboard emplyees

    Not a big fan of Yammer

    Pros

    It is somewhat helpful in that you can get responses from people you don't interact with on a daily basis. Our company did a lip sync challenge and that worked well on Yammer with videos posted working seamlessly.

    Cons

    Finally, after more than a year of my company using Yammer, you can access it with one click. Up until this week, one had to enter their work email and password TWICE! and our email addresses are very long. One of the pages you had to enter the email on had a huge button for "sign up" Yammer and a link in the text to sign on. So most of us signed up over and over which led to getting numerous emails each time yammer sent one out. There are over 5,000 employees in my organization and they are using Yammer as the sole source of information to the employees. Most items are seen by less than 200 people, and this over a year after yammer was instituted! So I'm not sure if it is Yammer that is the problem or if the problem is more in how my company set it up.

    The powerhouse that is Yammer, how it helps my Business.

    So far loving every day with it. My staff are joining up now and my network is growing slowly. The adaptability of it is quite nice overall it is enjoyable to use.

    Pros

    The fact we can make our own little secure tight knit community is amazing. We deal with some secure information so the info and document sharing within our secure private network is seriously outstanding.So many things you can do to interact and engage.

    Cons

    Don't quite like the community's feature. Seems lacking in my opinion, but I will explore it more as I evolve with this product.

    I use Yammer every day for collaboration with my colleagues.

    Pros

    1. It works pretty fast. Usually Microsoft products are slow but not Yammer.
    2. It includes many features you can find in other social networks.
    3. It works with different operation systems (I use it with Windows only).

    Cons

    1. Wiki pages stopped working a few times. I don't know why.
    2. UI is pretty old. I think it should be updated.
