About Ecwid

Ecwid is an ecommerce tool for freelancers and small businesses who want to set up a quick and fully functionable online store in minimal time. The web-based software easily integrates with existing websites and blogs such as Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla, and also enables users to create a Instagram or Facebook store within minutes.

Upgrades, SSL-certificates, security and server configuration is all taken care of by Ecwid so business owners don’t need to worry about the technological side of owning and managing an online store. Users can easily personalize their storefront designs by changing colors, fonts, margins and images to match the look of their website.

In the online store, products can be categorized based on features including sizes and colors.
Product quantity is automatically updated when an item has been purchased and store owners will get automatic email notifications when an item is low or out of stock.

Ecwid also enables users to sell e-goods like software, audio and video files (mp3s), e-books and graphics by sending a download link to the customer after an order takes place.

Ecwid is fully optimized for iPhone, iPad and Android for quick and easy access to the store’s inventory. The cloud-based software integrates with various POS (point of sale) services such as PayPal and 2Checkout, which makes transactions by debit or credit fast and simple.

Key benefits of Ecwid

Ecwid quickly and easily integrates with various websites, blogs and social media networks including Wordpress, Instagram, and Facebook without any software installation or server configuration.

Ecwid is optimized for mobile phones and tablets, making the user’s store look clean and professional from any device.

Many POS systems synchronize with Ecwid’s shopping cart making checkouts and payment transactions easy to complete, even when on the go.

Customers can mark items as ‘favorite’ and see real-time shipping rates based on their location from companies like FedEx, USPS and UPS.

Sell more than just physical products with Ecwid’s option for listing digital and virtual products (e-goods) that are delivered to customers by download.

Best Shop Management Tool

Reviewed on 2023/09/26

Pros

I used this to sell my product. This made it very easy to manage my inventory and customers. Customers would easily contact us and we would sell more products. This made my management a lot better.

Cons

The only bad thing about Ecwid is that it does not provide a payment gateway. It would be even easier if we could link PayPal, Stripe etc.

Pros

I use this as an add on to my Wix website. The combination of the two gives me absolutely everything I need. I like how easy it is to use and that I can customize it. I love the app. The assistance I have needed has also been top notch!

Cons

The fact it is only one page. This is why I went with Wix for my website and added Ecwid for my store.

Alternatives Considered

Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy Website Builder

Reasons for Switching to Ecwid

ECWID makes ecommerce a lot easier than normal which is great for smaller businesses and boutique shops. It allows for a cost effective alternative to the more expensive companies out there.

Pros

This software is easy to teach and can be used on any device. When showing my clients of multiple ages how to add new products and keep inventory they catch on easy. You can integrate your store on different platforms like Adobe Muse, Wix, Wordpress etc. Or create your own generic store using their store builder. There are more options for product variations than most other programs out there.

Cons

Unfortunately customizing your store look is very complicated. You need to have some level of coding to do so or you have to hire a designer to do it for you. The main downside is it doesnt work well if you want to use it or a restaurant. Food options, layout, mixed with customizability does cause an issue in the food industry.

If you don't find anything or your are facing other issues, Ecwid's customer service is just excellent. Live chat available and outside of business hours they usual answer within 24 hours.

Pros

User-friendly platform with a great database of instructions, no coding needed but I you want to use coding, it's possible and for people who want to learn coding here, they provide a great CSS Cookbook. Very inexpensive Ecommerce platform if you start from scratch.

Cons

There is nothing that I don't like from Ecwid.

Alternatives Considered

OpenCart, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Shopify

Very good experience. It helped me when my online business was beginning out.

Very good experience. It helped me when my online business was beginning out.

Pros

Being able to categorise products in a straight forward way. The website manager allows you to change the layout to your own vision and keeps track of you inventory. For a small business owner this is great as you can keep track of the business in extreme detail.

Cons

For additional add ons you have to have a monthly subscription. However, the cost of this is on par to other online shopping website domains.

Alternatives Considered

EtsyHunt and GoDaddy Website Builder
