4.4/5 (37 reviews)

BIM 360 Overview

BIM 360 is a construction management platform connecting AEC workflows from design, to preconstruction, to site execution, to commissioning & handover. By connecting the data, people, and processes, more predictable outcomes are achieved. More predictable outcomes help general contractors, construction managers, project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers and owners, improve profitability of their projects.

BIM 360 Docs is document management built specifically for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals to publish, manage, review and approve all project documents in the cloud. Project teams can stay up-to-date on 2D plans and 3D models, create design markups, and extract document sets from design files.

BIM 360 Design is built for team collaboration, allowing users to co-author shared Revit models, and manage deliverables throughout the construction project lifecycle.

BIM 360 Glue helps users perform constructability reviews and streamlines BIM project workflows. Users can review projects and resolve coordination issues by directly loading models into Navisworks for 4D animated timelines, model-based quantification, and more. Layout features enables vertical construction contracts to connect the coordinated model to the field layout process, improving accuracy of building components.

BIM 360 Build improves quality and promotes safety. By doing so, project efficiencies are gained, which reduces rework and risk. Digital checklists are used for inspections, ensuring safety and quality programs are beind adhered to. Users can create, assign and manage issues, RFIs and submittals, as well as track field performance with daily reports.

BIM 360 Ops is mobile-first maintenance management solution. Monitor building health, access asset information, and manage occupant tickets, all from your mobile device. Anytime, anywhere.

BIM 360 Team- Collaboration for Revit

Used Daily for 1+ year

If you are looking for a solution to host your revit models in the cloud this is by far the best.

Pros

BIM 360 Team solves the problem of Revit users needing to work from remote locations or allow access between companies not on the same network. This opens the door for much better real time collaboration. Also Save times are decreased significantly and it eliminates the time wasting of uploading and downloading models to ftp sites for consultants to use. It also has web based model viewers and drawing viewers for team members not using revit.

Cons

Is expensive but most likely worth the cost if you can afford it. Because it allows anyone on the team to edit your model that means there is potential for more error. They keep changing the name of the software the latest is now called BIM 360 Docs and it does allow more permission control.

Overall, I've used this software for over 5 years now and have yet to see any comparable software that can surpass it's use or functionality yet.

Pros

This software is used by large GC's (e.g. Balfour Beatty, Rodgers Builders, etc) and contains all drawings, submittals, and RFI's to name a few.

Cons

It's somewhat difficult to navigate as a beginner, and you''ll need to bookmark pages to find information faster.

Awesome software for me as a Project Manager and as a management team member!

This software helps our company to manage construction projects effectively and efficiently.

Pros

The software allows Project Management teams to efficiently and effectively communicate project details or issues, collaborate on solutions to issues, and have access to any project details at any time there is an internet connection.

The BIM 360 software team is also hungry for suggestions to improve the functionality of the software and have implemented some of my recommendations already.

Cons

The software functionality is fairly new and has some minor kinks.

The software is not as customizable as I would like when trying to create my own forms on their platforms.

My team loves this!

Pros

My team and I were taken aback by the sheer capabilities of BIM 360; but perhaps what stood out to us most was its CAD capabilities, which were simply phenomenal. Its cloud functionality and ability to share large projects makes BIM 360 a go-to application for the whole team.

Cons

As great as it is, there are moments when BIM 360 seems to either lag or take forever to load certain projects; but all in all, this is a minor criticism for what is an all-round sophisticated piece of kit.

Money Saving Clash Detection

Used Daily for 2+ years
Reviewed on 2018/12/17

Pros

This is a very highly valuable resource at the beginning of the project and helps identify existing conditions when we are planning for overhead MEP. This helps with Clash detection for new and existing equipment.

Cons

After I am in a file for awhile, I notice the program freezes a little when I try to navigate to fast.
