Sling
About Sling
Sling is a staff scheduling and communication software for businesses where employees work in shifts. The software allows managers to assign shifts and tasks to employees across multiple work sites, using a single shared calendar.
Sling is built around four central features: tasks, shifts, messages and newsfeed, and allows managers to coordinate all of their scheduling tasks on one platform. Managers can create shift schedules, manage shift trade and time-off requests; chat with employees and share photos, links and videos; post information and updates to a company newsfeed; and create and assign tasks to employees.
Shift templates can be saved an reused any number of times, saving time for scheduling managers. Within the template, data can be filtered by date, position or department to find out the total number of employees assigned to a particular task or department. Employees can submit time-off and shift trade requests via the employee portal, where they're sent to the location manager for approval and re-assignment to other staff members where necessary.
Users can create to-do lists and tasks, then assign these to a single employee or a group of employees. Users can set task timelines which generate automatic SMS or email reminders a few days before the deadline. Employees can send messages, work files, photos, videos and links to each other via Sling, as well as search for past conversations using keywords. Retail and restaurant outlets that have used Sling include Subway, Aveda, The UPS Store, Applebee’s and Securitas.

Has helped me manage a team of 70 with constantly changing shifts (days/times)
Pros
Love this products ease of use and ability to manage a large team schedule.
Allos you to code people for different positions, set recurring shift times and even has a group chat to easily send out team notifications ect.
Send each person's schedule directly to their phone. Great for managing a younger demographic.
Cons
There is no way for the team member to post a shift for coverage, everything has to be done by the manager (this could also be a pro, depending on what your looking for)

I have recommended this app to a couple of other employers, because of the ease of it. With multiple departments for a company, this is a gamechanger.
Pros
This is great for tracking hours and making sure employees are getting those hours on the schedule and repeating shifts. You are able to continue for an entire year and it's easy to fix when employees have to shift hours due to life's little emergencies happening.
Being able to color code for each department is a wonderful plus.
Cons
This is actually the hardest to figure out. i really haven't had any problems that couldn't be figured out in just a minute or two.

As a scheduling software great. no need for the extra features.
Pros
Easy access to distribute schedules and messages.
Cons
Private messaging. Users can private message each other within Sling. If these messages take a negative turn. Sexual Harassment or something else. There is no way no monitor these messages. Unless a screen shot was taken there is no proof, because if the either of the user deletes the message it is gone.
