About PetLinx

PetLinx is a business management software for pet care companies which offer pet grooming, boarding, or dog daycare services, which includes tools for managing clients, bookings and appointments, services, customer credit, reporting, and more. The modular system allows users to select whether they require tools for managing grooming, boarding, or daycare, or any combination of these.

With PetLinx, users can maintain detailed records of clients, pets, bookings and appointments, invoices, payments, business contacts, employees, and retail products. Users can track pets’ registration and microchip numbers, vaccination records, weights, behavioral attributes, and more. Information can be found using any combination of search criteria, such as client name, pet name, and phone number. Letters and invoices can be created with custom branding, and emails or text messages can be sent out in bulk to clients. Users can also generate a range of standard reports, and customize these as necessary.

The grooming module in PetLinx enables users to create and manage grooming appointments, with the ability to setup multiple services and charging options, and visit recurrence periods for automatic appointment creation. Individual groomers can define their own working hours and daily appointment limits, and a range of grooming services can be setup, such as summer, winter, and show styles. For companies offering boarding services, tools include a drag-and-drop schedule manager with color-coded bookings, automatic charge adjustment based on booking length, season, or number of pets, and the ability to add details including medications, feeding, and specific activities to bookings. The daycare module allows users to sell prepaid credits to clients, and track prepaid credit status, with automatic prompts when customers are running low on credits. Bookings can also be setup to repeat weekly on specific days, with personalized services for pets.

    Pros

    Best features are flexibility, value and service. Pet care is very often a small business that is highly individualized. Having a program that can be purchased in sections (boarding, daycare, grooming) and then having a good amount of flexibility within the program to adapt to each business is a good thing. The entire program is a good value and can be purchased outright with just service as an annual investment. The service is outstanding and responsive.

    Cons

    The manual is the weakest. The manual is there as well as "help on this page". However, the help index rarely seems to actually help and most explanations are brief. Sometimes you need the long version!

    Use friendly and customizable

    Pros

    I have a new boarding and grooming business and was looking for an easy to use software to keep client and pet records organized, create and modify bookings, send reminders to clients, and allow clients to request reservations. Petlinx has it all!
    I started with the built in tutorials which were very easy to follow along with for initial setup and getting to know the modules. Petlinx perfectly strikes the balance between being user friendly and customizable. It's very easy to access and update client information, as well as to customize lists and options. Employee setup is easy to use as well. Petlinx connects to Quickbooks. The online registration for clients to request services is user friendly and very easy for clients.
    Customer service/tech support is amazing. Any questions I had were usually answered via email usually within a few hours, and sometimes within minutes. The learning curve was minimal but it does take some time to get it fully set up and practice to become fluent in the program. I'm glad I had time to familiarize myself with it, customize all the data lists and options, create all my custom emails, and test it all before needing it.

    Cons

    Connecting my work email to send email confirmations and reminders to clients was not a tech skill I have done before and I needed quite a bit of help to find the settings in my email to allow Petlinx to connect. Thankfully there is a tutorial on the way!

    Pros

    RELATIVELY easy to use, though hard to train people on it.

    Cons

    It has quirks and reservations will often disappear.
    it's very easy to do the wrong day.
    it's hard to make corrections when things are entered wrong (payments, etc).
    it would be better if there were another way to notate the packages that clients have. the drop down is quirky when people pay in advance and have multiple packages.

    Easy to use, clear instructions, easy to transition to, fabulous timely personal support, and not a "static" product - [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and his team continue to improve, build and refine the software to include wants and needs of its users.

    I would love more financial type reports without having to upload to my accounting programme.
