About CaterTrax

CaterTrax is a web-based business management platform for North American caterers and foodservice providers across a range of industries, which is designed to help streamline operations, manage inventory, and reduce costs. The solution suite allows users to manage catering, take-out, and floor stock, in addition to their company’s web presence.

CaterTrax’s catering solution offers a variety of front and back of house features for taking and managing customer orders. Online ordering allows customers to place their orders through the business’ websites, with users able to control operating hours, lead times, and delivery times. Custom menus can be uploaded, with support for menus with multiple categories, and standardized menus across multiple sites. Related items are displayed to customers automatically, providing opportunities for upselling. Payment gateway integrations allow customers to pay for their orders online. Once orders are placed, customers can request changes and track their order, and kitchen and pack sheets are generated automatically. Users can track orders through the multiple calendar views, with configurable status pins to give an at-a-glance view of order statuses.

In addition to desktop and mobile online ordering, CaterTrax’s take-out solution provides users with lead time management tools and customizable cut-off times. Prepaid orders also enable quick pickups and deliveries. The floor stock out solution allows users to select which stock items are offered, their pricing, and par levels. Self-regulated business rules ensure that operating hours, delivery and pick-up times, and locations are enforced. Sales projections provide users with forecasts of required stock, and reporting can be carried out across multiple locations. CaterTrax also offers a website builder and content management system which allows companies to manage their web presence and communicate with their customers.

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly calendar views are available, allowing users to manage their schedule and orders across multiple time spans, and the monthly calendar can be filtered using configurable order status pins such as confirmed, cancelled, completed, change requested, and more.

  • CaterTrax provides businesses with customizable, hosted websites, which users can manage and update through the built-in content management system to communicate upcoming events, offer specials, and drive promotions.

    It turns out that we were not fully utilizing all the functions of the program! We had thought this was a one way tool but later realized that it is interactive with botht eh client and us. This allowed the customer to make changes once the catering was already in place. Because we validated the order it was easy to double check to make sure the catering was correct. Also, we could customize the layout as many times as we wanted, so that we could grow as our customer's needs changed.

    Pros

    Mostly, ease of use. The platform to do business can be a very complex one, especially in catering. After reviewing several programs we chose Catertrax for the ease of use, ability to add more user functions and the ability to customize the experience.

    Cons

    Some of the features require some comprehensive training, which costs extra in our case. I would have thought there would be unlimited training free of charge but that does not seem to be the case with us.

    The best benefit of CaterTrax is the historical data and the easy of pulling up past order to see what customers have done in the past.

    Pros

    The best feature of CaterTrax is it's customer information and historical database.

    Cons

    It is "bulky". The service is not streamlined well and asks repetitive questions. All customer information is stored in the system, however, when you want to create a new invoice, you are still required to put in all the customer information.
    Another big con, there is no app for CaterTrax. My caterers are always on the go and to have the details in the palm of your hand would be very convenient.

    Pros

    I work in Healthcare Food Services. We use CaterTrax to bill floorstock and for all of our caterings. It has saved so much time and is a great tool.

    Cons

    The amount of time / questions it asks before you can complete an order. ie: are you sure? almost done, etc....

    I'd be lost without it~

    Pros

    It helps me stay on task! Catering is busy and I can't imagine what I would do
    without it frankly. At the end of the week, when sales are to be reported, all I have to do is click a few items and hit print! It really saves me time and it's accurate.
