CaterTrax Overview

What is CaterTrax?

CaterTrax is a web-based business management platform for North American caterers and foodservice providers across a range of industries, which is designed to help streamline operations, manage inventory, and reduce costs. The solution suite allows users to manage catering, take-out, and floor stock, in addition to their company’s web presence.

CaterTrax’s catering solution offers a variety of front and back of house features for taking and managing customer orders. Online ordering allows customers to place their orders through the business’ websites, with users able to control operating hours, lead times, and delivery times. Custom menus can be uploaded, with support for menus with multiple categories, and standardized menus across multiple sites. Related items are displayed to customers automatically, providing opportunities for upselling. Payment gateway integrations allow customers to pay for their orders online. Once orders are placed, customers can request changes and track their order, and kitchen and pack sheets are generated automatically. Users can track orders through the multiple calendar views, with configurable status pins to give an at-a-glance view of order statuses.

In addition to desktop and mobile online ordering, CaterTrax’s take-out solution provides users with lead time management tools and customizable cut-off times. Prepaid orders also enable quick pickups and deliveries. The floor stock out solution allows users to select which stock items are offered, their pricing, and par levels. Self-regulated business rules ensure that operating hours, delivery and pick-up times, and locations are enforced. Sales projections provide users with forecasts of required stock, and reporting can be carried out across multiple locations. CaterTrax also offers a website builder and content management system which allows companies to manage their web presence and communicate with their customers.

Health care is focusing on ways to save money. We helped our organization cut back on internal catering ordering and floor stock by using CaterTrax to monitor orders placed and spending. We were able to determine what meetings really should order catering and created a policy to guide users. This resulted in a decrease in internal spending and savings for our organization. We did the same thing for Floor Stock.

One of the best software available!

It turns out that we were not fully utilizing all the functions of the program! We had thought this was a one way tool but later realized that it is interactive with botht eh client and us. This allowed the customer to make changes once the catering was already in place. Because we validated the order it was easy to double check to make sure the catering was correct. Also, we could customize the layout as many times as we wanted, so that we could grow as our customer's needs changed.

Pros

Before CaterTrax, we were spending hours inputting our catering orders into excel. I used CaterTrax at a previous job presented the benefits of using this program to my boss. He was on board, but our corporate office wanted us to use Caterease. I put together another presentation comparing the two programs and and after a long discussion, we were able to get CaterTrax. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel! This was the best thing we brought to our department and clients.

Pros

I like that CaterTrax allows me to manage information for multiple hospitals across our health system. I'm able to complete month end reporting, plan for budgeting and assist customers with placing orders. Our kitchen staff easily fills floor stock orders and assembles catering events. Users are able to track their own spending and manage room reservations. Custom reports are available if needed.

Cons

We do find some occasional connectivity issues. There were also some user password sign on issues with our company's Single Sign On, but Catertrax has worked to resolve that issue.

Pros

We use this software every day all day. I have never had an issue with it being down. The system does have hiccups here and there but the company is good at letting us know if there will be a shut down.

Cons

Getting a website to look the way you want it can be a bit challenging. There is more work on the front end but once it is all set up it easy fairly easy to use.

Pros

the tracking feature is the best feature of this program

Cons

you cannont move up items without retyping order , frequently forgets prints when mass printing, the cloud is as slow as using dial up , the spell check misses food terms, the functionality is not intuitive and slow going

Pros

Mostly, ease of use. The platform to do business can be a very complex one, especially in catering. After reviewing several programs we chose Catertrax for the ease of use, ability to add more user functions and the ability to customize the experience.

Cons

Some of the features require some comprehensive training, which costs extra in our case. I would have thought there would be unlimited training free of charge but that does not seem to be the case with us.
