MDToolbox e-Prescribing is a Surescripts and EPCS certified e-Prescribing software which can be used standalone in all types of healthcare settings and specialities, from solo practices to large organizations. MDToolbox offers an integrated as well as standalone solution, allowing users to integrate the e-prescribing module with other health IT software systems. A free mobile version is included with every license, enabling prescribers to manage prescriptions wherever and whenever they need.
MDToolbox offers a range of features designed to help users manage prescriptions easily online, including electronic refills, electronic prior authorizations, prescription history lookups, formulary and copay information, links to PMPs and direct messaging. E-prescribing tools allow users to send and receive prescription orders to over 70,000 retail and mail order pharmacies nationwide, while electronic refill capabilities enable users to respond to refill requests from pharmacies efficiently online. MDToolbox supports electronic prescribing of both controlled substances (EPCS) and non-controlled substances.
A comprehensive library gives users quick and central access to drug references, decision support, patient education, and interaction and forumary checking information. Users can create customizable prescription and pharmacy favorites lists, which enable users to write and send e-prescription quickly and easily. Pending lists ensure no prescription is ever forgotten or misplaced, while a built-in dosing calculator gives users the recommended per weight dosing values for reference automatically.
Other MDToolbox features include customizable API integration, real time prescription benefit eligibility checking and formulary coverage, and real-time interaction checking with user customizable alert levels. MDToolbox also ensures data protection with full HIPAA compliance.

Very easy to use even if you dont want to use an emr

Pros
Cheap, very easy to use and just works. Formulary check works very well half the time. I like that I can use it on my phone as well
Cons
Could be faster. The site is very stable but I wish it was faster when I am using it in our busy clinic environment

Pros
It is very easy to log in and prescribe medications for patients. It is intuitive and easy to navigate. Controlled substance prescribing works well on the desktop version. I have recommended it to several colleagues who have really liked it as well.
Cons
The mobile version is clunky. Can't prescribe controlled substances from it. Does not allow for facial recognition sign. Would be great if it can be integrated with EMR.

I was not eager to switch from paper but I am very satisfied with the application on my laptop or...
I was not eager to switch from paper but I am very satisfied with the application on my laptop or desk top. I still have not mastered the ability to use it on my phone. first, because I don't have the ability to save the password that changes every few months, and then likely, if I am not doing it at my desk, I can't access my password folder from the phone.
Pros
the ease of use, the reliability, tracking of meds.
Cons
I would like the website to be a little more forgiving. for example, if I need to change pharmacies for patients, which is common with all the drug shortages, it is not aways user friendly.

So easy to use. I love that I can order compounds too.
Cons
search for pharmacies is not great. Have to clear a box in order to click in the name box. Mobile app glitches when sending scripts. There is an OK button after sending the script that cannot be cleared except to exit the app and go back in the app.
