About Zoom Meetings
Zoom is a scalable, cloud based video conferencing and web conferencing platform enabling online meetings, webinars, file sharing, instant messaging, group messaging and more, for users in companies of all sizes.
Founded in 2011 by leaders and engineers from Cisco and WebEx, Zoom uses HD video and high quality audio to create an immersive video conferencing and screen-sharing experience for remote teams. Zoom’s desktop and native mobile apps enable teams to connect and collaborate from anywhere, whether they're working on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android or Blackberry devices, or from Zoom Rooms or H.323/SIP room systems.
The platform unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, wireless content sharing, and group messaging into one platform. With Zoom, users can connect multiple conference rooms, add remote attendees, and effectively enable “face-to-face” meetings in a single touch.
Zoom Rooms - Zoom's "Software Defined Video Conferencing System" or SDVC - integrates with existing audio solutions and dials out to mobile devices, facilitating the participation of on-the-go employees. With Zoom’s live Q&A feature, webinar hosts - and up to 25 designated panelists - can answer attendee questions as they come in, as well as run polls and reports to gather insight from participants.
Zoom Business IM enables teams to share text, images, audio files and more in group chats across any device. From the integrated IM platform, users can start video meetings and invite participants and conference rooms from their contact list. Files can be dragged, dropped, and shared in Zoom’s Business IM and then retrieved later, from Zoom’s synced and searchable content library.

Great software but a resource hog on computers

My experience with Zoom has been positive and nearly all users are able to use the software for our meetings. This has not always been the case with competitors where you have to fiddle around for 5-10 minutes trying to get your local software to work.
Pros
We use both Zoom for meetings and Zoom for phones. The meetings software has been fantastic for years now, but in the last couple of years it has become heavier and heavier on our computers. My MacBook Pro with 16gb RAM will start spinning fans during nearly every meeting. If you don’t use an external mic then you will hear the fans spinning in your meeting!
The phone system integration is good and we use it everyday
Cons
Support has been an issue, especially on the phone side. We had one person who was moving phones and they removed a user and accidentally removed a phone number. The big problem is they deleted the phone number and released the phone into the general pool. This is a big problem that any admin can do this. Fortunately we were able to get our main number back but we did loose other numbers in the system.

Zoom Meetings is our primary form for team communications!

Zoom is the way we create a workspace for our international team. It is our virtual office and a critical component of our internal/external communications as well as our operations.
Pros
Scheduling meetings (including calendar integration), hosting meetings (and transfer of hosts), recording meetings, and so many other features are critical to how we run our business. The ease of use, the reliability of the software, and the fact that now most people are familiar with Zoom make it a great choice for us.
Cons
Video quality is not a problem, but we do feel that it could be improved. Other products on the market are touting better video quality, and we have sampled these. While these competitors do seemingly have better video quality features, we have stayed with Zoom due to the ease of use and reliability.
