Zoom

Video conferencing & web conferencing for teams of all sizes

About Zoom

Zoom is a scalable, cloud based video conferencing and web conferencing platform enabling online meetings, webinars, file sharing, instant messaging, group messaging and more, for users in companies of all sizes.

Founded in 2011 by leaders and engineers from Cisco and WebEx, Zoom uses HD video and high quality audio to create an immersive video conferencing and screen-sharing experience for remote teams. Zoom’s desktop and native mobile apps enable teams to connect and collaborate from anywhere, whether they're working on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android or Blackberry devices, or from Zoom Rooms or H.323/SIP room systems.

The platform unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, wireless content sharing, and group messaging into one platform. With Zoom, users can connect multiple conference rooms, add remote attendees, and effectively enable “face-to-face” meetings in a single touch.

Zoom Rooms - Zoom's "Software Defined Video Conferencing System" or SDVC - integrates with existing audio solutions and dials out to mobile devices, facilitating the participation of on-the-go employees. With Zoom’s live Q&A feature, webinar hosts - and up to 25 designated panelists - can answer attendee questions as they come in, as well as run polls and reports to gather insight from participants.

Zoom Business IM enables teams to share text, images, audio files and more in group chats across any device. From the integrated IM platform, users can start video meetings and invite participants and conference rooms from their contact list. Files can be dragged, dropped, and shared in Zoom’s Business IM and then retrieved later, from Zoom’s synced and searchable content library.

Key benefits of Zoom

  • Zoom’s HD video and high quality audio features create an immersive video conferencing experience and help remote attendees to communicate with their team as though they were in the same room.

  • With ZoomRooms - a Software Defined Video Conferencing system (or SDVC) - video conference participants can wirelessly and securely share content from any device - mobile, tablet or laptop.

  • Webinar hosts can designate up to 25 interactive panelists to present and screen-share with thousands of attendees, run polls, and answer attendee questions as they come in.

  • Users can drag, drop, and share files in Zoom’s Business IM and then retrieve them later, from Zoom’s synced and searchable content library.

    Reliable Conference Software

My overall experience with Zoom is extremely good. The software is lightweight but very heavy hitting. It is packed with important features, controls and abilities. I feel this software one of the best on the market for audio video conferencing.

    Pros

What I like most about Zoom software is that the software is available to use a no charge. The software has several features that I find to be extremely efficient

Zoom allows you to have a one on one conference with any user in the world. You can use the software to do a conference call with technology devices such as computers, tablets and cell phone devices.

The software utilizes audio, video and screen sharing capabilities. You can share your device screen so your audience can view a presentation, hear your voice and see you live via video camera.

The Zoom software also allows you to screen record your device or computer. This function is key because you can record your presentations or conferences and use the recorded video later as a media marketing tool.

The software is very easy to learn and is beginner friendly. Zoom also has very friendly customer support and technical assistance. I would recommend the software to any user who is interested in audio video conferencing software.

    Cons

The only thing I like least about the software is the overlay controls. The controls can get in the way of your recording sometimes. The overlay can be docked near the bottom or the top section of the screen which is helpful.
