Touchplan
About Touchplan
Touchplan is a construction planning and management tool that helps organizations reduce overall project duration, improve team communication, streamline project execution, and simplify implementation of the ‘last planner system’. The platform serves various roles in the industry including trade foremen, superintendents, and project managers, as well as project executives, designers, and owners, helping to facilitate complex construction.
Touchplan aids in improving team collaboration with the milestone scheduling feature, which allows users to develop and and define a list of key activities to drive the overall schedule. To plan the work sequence, team members can each simultaneously detail their tasks on tickets, specifying the duration and crew size required. Users work backwards, collectively organizing their tickets by pulling their tasks to the beginning of a work sequence. Tickets placed in the same column will be completed on the same day.
To refine work plans, team members can specify a milestone date to create start and end dates on tickets. ‘Last planners’ are able to identify any critical outside constraints or key task dependencies through collaboration, and warnings are sent to project members if any of those could put the plan at risk. Touchplan's Gantt charts allow project members to sharpen and revise work plans for the upcoming week, and coordinate workday and staffing details. Any changes will automatically be updated across the entire plan.
Users can generate planning materials such as weekly work and look ahead plans at the push of a button, and are automatically based on the configuration of the plan. As tasks are finished, team members can check off completed tickets in order to update work progress, and the effects of any late (or early) completions are immediately carried across the entire plan. Additional features include percent plan complete (PPC) reports for assessing reliability, as well as variance reports to improve planning.

Touchplan helped us accurately monitor project completion and allowed stakeholders to intervene in a timely manner to prevent delays.
Pros
I really like Touchplan's ability to involve contractors in tracking the work program throughout the project lifecycle. I really appreciate Touchplan's unique tools, which allow us to set up a work program that includes all activities and resources. It is great that Touchplan allows us to design the WBS of the project, no matter how many sub-levels are, and the activities under each level are entered easily, and the automation helps with the exact linking of the activities, and showing the start and end dates for them, as well as for the project, and I greatly appreciate that all these steps are done with the cooperation of all Project parties including contractors, consultants and stakeholders, ensuring that the plan is properly prepared. Touchplan's dashboard is unique, it shows updates and we can take notes on it and also allows sending alerts to colleagues. The reporting tools are unique, and we can cooperate with them in preparing them and also send them to the stakeholders, who can review them and send notes on them directly to the specialists.
Cons
There are no worrisome matters, especially when defining the powers to update the program in the planning and scheduling team, as this ensures that the update process for completion is carried out on time, and all parties to the project can rely on the results and follow the delivery dates accurately.

Pros
Organizes activities well. It has a fluid way of sorting out tasks and presenting the tasks to subcontractors.
Cons
Time consuming, not worth it. Felt the subcontractors would not buy into it because it was too time consuming.

Touchplan is a good tool, but I think that the "report" creating function could improve.

Benefits that I get are knowing where the Trade Partners are working on a daily basis and what activities they plan on doing, This allows the Subs to be able to plan and coordinate with each other.
Pros
It is easy to teach the Subcontractors how to use the stickies correctly. The ease of use is important to getting the Subs to use Touchplan on a daily basis. I also like that you can see who is inside the plan and is actively working.
Cons
I do not like the report function. It should give you an example of the report you are producing before you generate it. I am computer savvy, but cannot figure out how to properly use the report tool. It seems like Touchplan has some bugs too. I continuously get an error message at the top of my screen and it said that our payment was overdue for an entire month which was incorrect.

Great visual tool to help all parties stay informed of the timeline of the project. Easy to understand and see the overlap of swimlanes and workstreams.
Pros
Works in real time, so that all users in the tool can see the changes instantly on swimlanes. Easy to move items around and edit.
Cons
I would to be able to use without an interconnection. Tasks cannot be defined down to the hour, that would be really helpful. We use D for day and N for night but it is not specific enough.
