Static Object

Developer tool for GitHub, with code analysis & git stats

5/5 (1 review)

Static Object Overview

Static Object is a developer tool for GitHub with code analysis and git stats which works to help solve the conundrum of quantifying developer productivity. The platform analyzes the user’s GitHub data to bring insights into their programming team's work, and uses a finely tuned metric called ‘line impact’ to assess the quality of code that engineers are writing. Static Object helps to tease out the fractions of work that have a meaningful impact, identify strengths and problem areas with metrics, and enables users to create reports for performance reviews and stand-up meetings.

Static Object digests the user’s repository and commits it into a quantified data stream that provides managers and engineers with insight into what's being worked on during a given hour, day, or year. Users can get answers to their most imperative questions, get summaries on daily activity, recall important changes, and measure developer impact. Static Object uses a learning algorithm to selectively group commits, helping to to reduce the size of diffs, and provides a window which allows managers to observe the state of their dev team. A dashboard of code metrics helps users make informed decisions supported by data. With Static Object, managers are able to compare the impact of new engineers to previous hires, optimize issue assignment, and review each engineer's achievements via the annual review page.

Static Object allows engineers to view diffs with numerous configuration options enhanced by syntax highlighting, follow work being done across multiple repositories or organizations, and improve their understanding of changes through consolidated commit groups. Engineers can also receive notifications when files or libraries they own get changed, learn which days and types of work correspond with their highest efficiency, and earn recognition from management and peers for their unique contributions to the project.

Great Product with a few things that need to be added

Review Source: Capterra

We use Static Object to get productivity stats from our development teams and also review their code without going into Github or Visual Studio. Overall I think it is a great product with a bright future as they expand the feature use.

Pros

The software provides great insight into my developers productivity and also an easy way to look at their checked in code. It integrates easily with Github.

Cons

I feel that there are a couple of integrations I am looking for such as the ability to pull the data through an API to integrate with Power BI or Tableau. Also, the LI score is still hard to understand and add value.
