Competency Manager is a workforce development and performance management system which supports training, talent management and credentialing, allowing enterprises to create a framework for organizational competency by role, department and location. Competency Manager then allows users to complete requirements using different completion methods like witnessing, approvals and LMS (learning management system) functionality. Competency Manager also enables users to identify learning/development pathways, stay ISO and OSHA compliant, manage risk, and more.
Competency Manager provides users with the tools to manage their organization, build competency models, develop their workforce and publish reports and analytics. An organizational chart helps users manage their organization efficiently, giving an at-a-glance view of every location, department or role in the company. To build an effective competency model, users first identify the competencies, skills, qualifications, and attributes employees need for their learning and development program. Users can mark competencies and expectations as complete with approvals, performance assessments or tests. Reporting and analytics tools (skills matrix, current risks, competency gaps) give users insight into their organization’s progress.

So far there are very few cons. Anytime I have encountered an issue, which has been few and far between, CABEM's support team and in-house developers have been responsive, knowledgable and very helpful in determining the cause, providing a solution in a timely manner or providing training on how to properly use the software.
Simplifies the employee management process across multiple locations and allows us to assign trainings and competencies in a layered approach by organizations or locations, teams and roles. Simple user interface for admins and users. The built in LMS allows admins to easily upload content and training materials, assign tasks, and record all activity and supporting documentation that can be easily retrieved when facing an audit or inspection. The calendar and notification system automates the expiration and renewal of our employees' critical certifications, namely OSHA. The gap analysis tool easily calls out what competencies are yet to be accomplished, and the risk tool allows us to mitigate our internal risk by assigning a custom risk value to each competency. Allows competency to be determined through various completion methods i.e. user and manager sign-offs, witnessing, online training, document upload, and attendance. I especially like the witnessing sign off option which facilitates our Performance based training needs. The onboarding feature allows you to quickly add new employees, or transition existing employees to a new role, individually, through an API or .csv upload. You can then easily assign them to their corresponding organizations, teams and roles from the same screen, which ensures they will get the training they need to be proficient fast in their new role. Flexible framework which allows us to work with CABEM to customize the tool for our uniqure needs.
Overall the experience using the software has been great. It has allowed us to improve our learning and development program and train our employees faster, easier, and better than before. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to manage the competency of their employees, track credentials, and train online.
The software is powerful but also easy to use. It is flexible and has multiple completion methods and ways of completing the training assessments and proving competency. It includes features such as gap analysis, risk mitigation reporting, and also comes with a credentialing module so we can upload any certifications and required credentials in a centralized location. The company has a fast and responsive support team and answers any questions that I have on using the software in a timely manner.
The software takes some time to initially set up, but CABEM’s support team was very helpful and worked closely with me to get up and running!
