About MediaShout
MediaShout is a church presentation software which enables the display of song lyrics, announcements, bibles passages, and almost any type of media file. The solution includes templates, fire buttons, social media integrations, text formatting, editor/presenter views, a sermon builder, and more.
MediaShout's editor provides users with a drag-and-drop interface for creating custom presentations. The sermon builder includes a wizard to assist users with creating their sermon slides. The cues library plugin allows users to save their favorite cues and easily add them to future presentations. Users can also edit slides further once cues have been added. Scripture passages from a variety of Bibles can be added to presentations, with the American Standard Version, King James Version, Webster Bible, and many others integrated.
The stage display in MediaShout enables the display of content to pastors and worship teams. Items can be copied directly from the main display to the stage display, and users can then edit items on the stage display only. Notes, previews of upcoming slides, and additional information can be shown to the worship team during sermons.

We started with Media Shout when we started using video presentation in our services 10 years ago. The updates and upgraded versions have continued to allow us to have a user-friendly software for our volunteers to operated for worship. The Plus Membership has been my favorite addition. It's great to be able to get help quickly when there is a problem or even when I need help understanding something.
Pros
My favorite new feature is the in line editor. It's very convenient to be able to edit slides while still running the program.
Cons
I don't like the way the cursor jumps back to the beginning of the cue when the text wraps to a new slide within the cue.

Pros
MS7 seems to run much more efficiently on our machines, additionally once the service is prepared by staff and saved to the media storage device, the presentation has all the backgrounds and items it needs to run, thus is the network crashes the presentation will still execute (unless we lose all power like we did last Sunday).
Cons
MediaShout7 does not import MS Presentations as easily as MediaShout4.5 (the version we upgraded from). With 4.5 the import was straight forward with very limited need to reset fonts, sizes, etc. Not so when an MS Presentation is imported to MediaShout 7. Pastor has always liked using MS Presentation as he was very familiar, however he is now learning MediaShout7 Sermon Builder.
Additionally, we experimented with different font colors against the song backgrounds. Upon making our choice and changing, I found there is not was to easily make that change globally to all pages of the song cue, except via template.

Decided conversion from MS4.5 to MS7 would be easier than conversion from MediaShout to ProPresenter.- Industry: Computer Networking

Hey there! I wonder if there's a system issue going on such as a video card needing a driver update, video codecs needing to be reinstalled, or Windows updates need completing. Version 6 is a very solid program and I trust it on the road worship leading myself- even on an older lower powered laptop. I'm confident our support can make recommendations to get you where you need to be (just reach out at mediashout.com/support). Also, do check out Version 7, as it's built on a completely new platform and it's less susceptible to even external system issues that caused poor performance in the past-- everything is in the box including video codecs needed for smooth performance with media files. We've worked hard to make it one of the most stable and reliable programs out there.

So far, MediaShout is a great program. We use it st my church and we're still getting used to it but working with it hasn’t been that bad. We’ve had a few hiccups but it wasn’t anything that the support team couldn’t solve.
Pros
I love the user friendly software. It was easy to install and the setup is easy to navigate.
Cons
No cons at this point. We are still getting adjusted to the software. The small issues that we’ve had have been easily taken care of by customer support.

MediaShout in my opinion offered more features and again user friendly software than the competitor. Also, a friend of mine recommended MediaShout to us. He also uses the software at his church.Response from Wordsmith

Overall, in 10 years, we were left fixing and resetting codec issues multiple times a year.
It worked 85% of the time and most recently not at all.
Pros
We have been customers for upwards of 10 years.
The program worked with dual monitors.
Cons
We have purchased several upgrades - one because they forced us to. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
A few months ago we showed up for service as usual and our program said we were using a trial version. It started the 30 day countdown.
Eventually we dig out the registration codes for the product we had purchased and it would not accept the code. We tried multiple times but it would never go through.
We contacted tech support and eventually they just told us the company that managed the licenses for them no longer was. We asked what we could do to fix the problem.
The answer? Pay $400 to get a new version. WHAT?!? We purchase a product with the express understanding they are going to deliver on that product.
Instead, because they made an unfortunate decision to do business with the wrong company, it was going to cost US -the customer- $400. No product discount, no alternate license or work around. Just a response that would mean they succeeded at doing this to us TWICE.
I’m not happy nor would I recommend this product. It does the job. There were things we liked and didn’t like but because of the investment we had, we stayed. No longer.
We still haven’t replaced our program. We will be very diligent in reading reviews so we can get a company that is:
1) available with tech support without charging an additional fee and
2) stands behind the service they offer
