Very good image and PDF scanner to scan a few documents or ID cards

The Microsoft lens is a good tool for scanning images and documents. But managing a large number of scanned documents is difficult.

Pros

The quality of the scanned images is very good. The app can show the area to crop while taking the photo. This is a unique feature most similar apps lack. They show the crop area only after capturing the photo but not during capturing. Showing the crop area during capturing gives an idea regarding the final output image. Auto-detection of the crop area is also better than many other apps. Further, the app is advertisement free.

Cons

The app lacks any folder to organise the scanned images. Also, there is no option just to select a few images and export them as a PDF. The export PDF option is only available just after scanning. Overall, I didn't like the organisation of managing the scanned files. Scanning a large number of pages and probably multiple of them is difficult.

How Microsoft Lens Helps My Daily Life

Overall, Microsoft Lens was a great tool to utilize during College and in my work career after, especially with school and government documents. It is very simple to scan and edit and save changes to PDFs, which is my favorite part of the product. I'd highly recommend it to any fellow professionals.

Pros

The most impactful features are the PDF editing and conversions of formats to PDFs. Especially in college, this app was used on a practically daily basis due to so many professors only accepting PDFs. I remember introducing many friends to this app and all of us using it throughout college and several of them continued into postgrad with the software as well.

Cons

Occasionally when scanning the camera can have an issue determining the proper size of the paper and thus scan it in improperly, however after using the product for a while, it is quite easy to fiddle with the orientation of the paper and get the scanner to properly see the paper's edges. It is useful to have the paper on a surface that is a different color from the paper being scanned.

The Perfect Does-Everything Myth

It was obviously not designed for scanning a document and saving as an image. It’s market position is doing absolutely everything one could possibly require, but they forgot to provide the 6 month training course. I am now tired of the struggle of trying to make this work. iPhone by the way. Why do companies keep taking a simple concept, and trying to adapt it to do everything one could imagine. By the time they succeed they have something only their developers can use. To do “everything” one must approach the limits of complexity. A user needing simplicity is facing a multiverse of complexity. Whatever happened to the KISS principle.

Pros

It looked cute on the screen when a colleague demonstrated it to me.

Cons

It’s innate ability to make a simple task into definitive flexibility.

Microsoft Lens: Easy File Recognition

I appreciate how easily Microsoft Lens is able to scan any type of written content.

I appreciate how easily Microsoft Lens is able to scan any type of written content.

Pros

Anyway, I enjoy how quickly files are recognized while I used it, how easily a compact book can be created, and how easily photographs can be converted into files in PDF format.

Cons

It frequently can't precisely trim the images, so I must make the necessary adjustments myself. Fortunately, this requires not much time and is simple to accomplish.

Microsoft Office Lens is a trusted tool offering free and excellent scanning capabilities.

Pros

Microsoft Lens works quickly to identify the text that has to be scanned. Additionally, it offers the right solutions for editing images. There are very obvious choices for sharing and storing in different formats. The absence of a watermark on PDF documents is also a plus.

Cons

Often it fails to exactly crop the pictures, thus I need to adjust it manually, but it does not take much time and it's easy to fix.
