Cisco Jabber
About Cisco Jabber
Cisco Jabber is a unified communications tool that provides businesses with instant messaging, voice and video calls, voice messaging, and web conferencing. Features include file sharing, call forwarding, desktop sharing, persistent chat, active in-call controls, smartwatch compatibility, and more.
With Cisco Jabber persistent chat, users can create multiple team spaces with advanced file sharing and search features. Members can be added from in-company contact databases or external sources and allocated individual permission levels to ensure data protection and security. With end-to-end encryption, chat history is securely retained for reference, including shared files and participant activity. Users can see an activity based presence of all contacts within a team space including active, in a meeting, presenting, out of office, and on a call.
With spontaneous conferencing features, individual chat windows and team spaces can be escalated to a conference call. Within video conferencing windows, members can see live activity indicators of other participants, including speaking, sharing screen, muted, and virtual hand raising. Additionally, with toggle view features, participants can filter through view options to see shared screens and participant camera views at the same time or enable single view.
Cisco Jabber enables calendar integration with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and IBM Lotus notes so meetings can be arranged and started directly from calendar invites. Additionally, the platform can be integrated with desk phones, headsets, Apple and Android smart watches, video conferencing equipment, and far-end cameras. Users can also utilize conference bridges including Cisco Meeting Server and Cisco Webex.

Great for online audio and video usage!!

Pros
I'm a big fan of Cisco Jabber for a few key reasons. The "Two-Way Audio & Video" feature is a game-changer for me. It's like having a face-to-face conversation, even when I'm working remotely. The quality of the audio and video is impressive, making virtual meetings feel natural and clear.
I also love how Cisco Jabber integrates seamlessly with other Cisco products. It's like having a one-stop-shop for all my communication needs—whether it's instant messaging, voice calls, video chats, or screen sharing, I can do it all in one place.
The flexibility to use Cisco Jabber on different devices is a huge plus for me. Whether I'm on my laptop, tablet, or phone, I can stay connected without any hassle. And, of course, the security features make me feel confident that my communications are always protected. Overall, Cisco Jabber is a go-to for efficient and secure communication in my daily work routine.
Cons
While I appreciate Cisco Jabber's features, there are a couple of things that have been a bit tricky for me. The interface was a bit overwhelming at first, and it took some time to get used to all the different functions. I also noticed that it can be a bit demanding on my computer's resources, which sometimes affects its performance, especially on less powerful devices.
Integration with other Cisco products is cool, but for me, who uses a mix of communication tools, it can be a bit less seamless. Sometimes, managing the security features feels a bit complex, and it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
However, these are more like bumps in the road rather than roadblocks. Once you get the hang of it, Cisco Jabber offers a robust communication experience, especially if you're deep into the Cisco ecosystem.

I use it mainly as a quick chat solution for internal situations, but the screen share feature is also a great benefit that has been useful in the past.
Pros
My favorite part of Jabber is the screen sharing functionality. I usually use this feature when the IT help desk is trying to get me out of a digital hole that I've dug. They can show me the steps to follow to complete the task at hand.
Cons
Honestly, the thing I like the least about it is that it runs it's start up sequence automatically whenever I restart my computer. I understand why this needs to happen so that it can run properly, it's just mildly annoying.
