Zeplin

About Zeplin
Zeplin is a collaboration and handoff solution, which enables enterprises to share ideas, organize projects and create products using a digital workspace. The platform assists users with generating global style guides, enabling designers and developers to organize, update and share design system colours, text styles, codes, and other components in a centralized repository with drag-and-drop capabilities.
Zeplin lets administrators add descriptions to a variety of design elements and include a redirect link to a code database, allowing developers to search the existing codes. The software offers a host of features such as projects interlinking, multiple versions, data archiving, documentation management, change notifications, and custom extensions. The permissions management functionality allows administrators to provide role-based access, enabling members to view content, create projects along with style guides or edit resources.
Zeplin includes a team projects dashboard, which enables teams to view and join available projects. Developers can export design files using Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Photoshop CC plugins. Additionally, it facilitates communication among teams through integrations with Slack, Jira and Trello.

Simple Easy Dev Handoff
Reviewed on 2020/02/10
Pros
I've been using Zeplin for nearly 3 years now, and the best thing about Zeplin is that its reliable and easy to setup.
It has no fancy gimmiks which other tools in the same category do have but simply because it robust it is my choice.
Cons
Too many software updates. Each and every time I open Zeplin there is a software update pending. I wish Zeplin could solve the dev handoff problem end to end by use of design tokens and better design system documentation, and become that single source of truth for designers and developers.
Reasons for Choosing Zeplin
Traditionally our developers were used to seeing the Zeplin Interface and quickly snapping out UI specs from there. In the Invision trail they found it slightly difficult to adapt to the new Invision Interface.Switched From

Using Zeplin has been a bit of a mixed bag. It's great for getting my designs across to the developers in a way that makes sense to them, which is incredible. But I sometimes wish it did more than that, especially when we're juggling many tasks and need more from our tools. It's handy for what it does but not the be-all and end-all. And we finally switched to Figma
Pros
Zeplin made my life easier when showing my designs to the dev team. It's pretty cool how it turns my designs into something devs can use, cutting down on many of the back-and-forths I used to deal with.
Cons
Zeplin's pretty much just for handing off designs and doesn't help much with the bigger picture stuff, like managing the whole project. And if you're not used to design tools, getting the hang of Zeplin can be a bit of a headache at first.

Pros
It's a straightforward tool for handing off designs to developers.
Cons
With the arrival of Figma and other similar programs, I no longer use it. Instead, I share the design files directly with the developers, allowing them to retrieve the necessary code. Additionally, I've started handling more of the development work myself.

Looooooove it! Zeplin is great for large or small teams. The designers can focus on design, and the developers can focus on developing without working if something follows the style guide... because it does with Zeplin.
Pros
Zeplin makes is incredibly easy to hand off design items (mockups, prototypes, completed designs, etc.) to the development team.
Cons
None. I love Zeplin. I've used it at two companies and it's greatly improved the process between design and development.
