Freeform digital canvas for sharing ideas and content

About Microsoft Whiteboard

Microsoft Whiteboard is a cloud-based whiteboard software designed to help teams draw shapes, create tables, edit content, and comment at the same time on a digital canvas. The pen-based interface lets users add images, post sticky notes, type, draw, and move content across the canvas.

Key features of Microsoft Whiteboard include templates, collaboration, diagramming, and sketching and annotation tools. The application allows remote teams scattered across multiple geographical locations to share ideas and collaborate on a single platform using mobile devices. Its touch interface helps teams collaborate on the same virtual canvas in real-time or across devices using the application or a web browser.

Microsoft Whiteboard automatically saves all ongoing tasks, enabling users to pick up where they left off. Individuals can create doodles, which can be transformed into lines, shapes, and tables that can be copied, pasted, combined with other content, and shared with team members across the organization, facilitating collaboration to optimize brainstorming sessions.

We are very happy to use it at the first, but after a while we start to see there are some lacking with all the feature that are offered by this software. I have opted to switch to other digital whiteboard software that can fit our work needs better.

Pros

Microsoft Whiteboard is best to be paired when me and my colleague are having an online weekly meeting or online ideas sharing. Sketching ideas and project process and idea map is very easy to do with this whiteboard and help us to interpreted our ideas into visual.

Cons

Microsoft Whiteboard is lacks of details in the feature and the tools. Like the shape option, they only has basic shape and if i need any other shape, it has to be drawn manually and it is very time consuming to do it all from the start.

I love it and use it for its no frills canvas.

Pros

It is really easy to start collaborative work on the miscrosoft Whiteboard.

Cons

On the mobile application you might feel the thickest ink is not thick enough to notice on a big screen.

Half-baked and feature-free

For a product that is ostensibly part of the Office 365 suite, Microsoft Whiteboard is probably the weakest and least useful product that I've worked with so far. Yes, it's easy to create a new whiteboard; yes, you can even create a (long, ugly, hard-to-read) URL to share your whiteboard; and yes, you can even export your whiteboard as a PNG. But those aren't features--those are basic requirements--and Whiteboard barely manages to pull even those off.

Pros

The core features are competently executed--it's mind-numbingly easy to create a new whiteboard, and there is no confusion possible as to what the (very few) available tools in the toolbar do.

Cons

The list of missing features is extraordinarily long, so I'll focus on the most glaring omissions and limitations. The tool palette is quite limited; while at first glance it appears there are four different "pens," they are in fact just four copies of the same pen, all of which can be configured only minimally (width, from "1" to "6," and your choice of 15 colors). There is a highlighter tool which has similar configuration limitations and doesn't even include opacity adjustment. The eraser tool is overzealous; one errant click and giant portions of your diagram vanish. The text tool has one pre-set "handwriting" type font that I find to be practically illegible; this can't be changed. There is also a redundant "note" tool that mimics Post-It notes, but it is unclear what the purpose of these notes is intended to be, since there is no visibility control toggle, etc. The drawing experience is awful as well; the interface automatically attempts to "smooth" your drawings (you can't disable this either!), meaning that any fine details that you draw that Whiteboard interprets as errors are obliterated.

Microsoft White Board is a Must have tools for teams that need a lot of Brainstorming

I love the product. Microsoft should try and see if it is possible to use some sort of digital pen with the whiteboard. That would take the application to a whole new level.

Pros

- Life during and after Covid necessitated the use of tools like Microsoft Whiteboard which could not have been as popular if Covid did not happen. - Microsoft Whiteboard is awesome. It comes both as a stand-alone app or you can also find it in teams. My team and I sometimes work remotely, and we find ourselves making use of this tool a lot. - Almost all things that you can do in realise whiteboard, you can also do in Microsoft Whiteboard. You can prepare a whiteboard in advance to a meeting or work with the whiteboard in real time during the meeting. Another cool thing about whiteboard is that during a meeting, you can give or take back rights of users to edit the whiteboard. Whiteboards used during a meeting can be accessed easily from the teams meeting calendar invite link or via whiteboard.office.com. - I think one of the reasons why I enjoy the whiteboard a lot is because my laptop is touchscreen. This makes things so much better for me in terms of drawings and sketches.- Another awesome thing about whiteboard is the fact that you can easily import files and videos into the canvas. I find this feature so important because it means, you can have everything related to a brainstorm session in one place which is good for staying organized.

Cons

At this point, I cannot think of anything bad to say about Microsoft Whiteboard. It is a great alternative to a real-life whiteboard. Whiteboards are always important and crucial for brainstorming.

Every day, we utilize the whiteboard to discuss our project, visualize its scope, and draw out its overview. In particular, since we are currently working from home, we make use of it to play games during Fun Fridays.

Pros

Similar to a traditional whiteboard, Microsoft Whiteboard offers the flexibility to draw anything, making it suitable for a variety of purposes, including brainstorming, project planning, sketching, and teaching. Its infinite canvas provides ample space for users to create and organize content without limitations.Another compelling feature of Microsoft Whiteboard is its collaborative capabilities. Multiple users can work on the same board simultaneously, making it an excellent tool for remote teams to collaborate and share ideas in real-time. Additionally, users can save and share their work with others, enabling easy access and review of the content at a later time. Moreover, Microsoft Whiteboard offers a range of tools and features to enhance the user experience, including the ability to add images, text, and notes to the board. It also allows users to export the board as an image or PDF file, making it a versatile tool for both personal and professional use.

Cons

I don't dislike anything. It's a very useful one.
