About Jitsi

Jitsi Meet is an open-source video conferencing software that helps businesses create password-protected virtual meeting rooms to host audio and video calls. Administrators can create custom meeting URLs, mute or remove participants, share the entire screen or specific applications, and configure the platform in several languages.

Jitsi Meet enables presenters to live stream conferences, record calls, and generate talk-time statistics to gain insights into call performance. The integrated chat functionality allows meeting participants to send emojis and private or group messages to further improve team communication. It lets team leaders lock rooms to restrict late attendees from joining sessions. It also helps users raise their hands to attract attention, share text-based documents using Etherpad, and set-up meeting audio via telephone dial-in.

Jitsi Meet comes with an API, which allows businesses to integrate the system with multiple third-party applications. Team members can also utilize the picture-in-picture (PIP) mode to access multiple applications and use the toggle tile view to gain visibility of the entire team.

Jitsi allows my team to work from home and successfully communicate. We use it for meetings, one-on-ones, brainstormings, updates, and general communications.
Also, I've started to use this software much more often to chat with my family and friends amid pandemic.

Pros

Jitsi Meet is a fully secure, scalable, easy to use, customizable and feature-rich solution, perfect choice for remote everyday use.

Cons

I have not come up against any weaknesses yet. The one thing I can remember, once I've noted an audio delay during the meeting.

Best Alternate solution for an Online Meetup

Overall, it worked fine. It cares about your privacy and the communication process is encrypted with the ease of sharing screen. Best for Online meetup of friends or colleagues. Anyone invited can easily join through the invitation link.

Pros

Nothing needs to be installed for using Jitsi app. Through a meeting invitation link you can directly use the app in your browser. Besides audio, video call facility , it also provides screen and link sharing facility. Jitsi has an end to end encryption so your voice and video data is not shared anywhere.

Cons

I couldn't get the idea if my video is shown or not there should an indication for that. Sometimes it uses a lot of memory eventually phone gets heat up. Lagging occurs and it disconnects a lot in that case.

Jitsi: Good for internal purposes

Reviewed on 2021/12/17

Very happy for internal use, haven't checked the latest versions for calls with clients.

Very happy for internal use, haven't checked the latest versions for calls with clients.

Pros

It is a great tool for internal collaboration within a company. Plus it is inexpensive, so a winner.

Cons

So far we've only used it for internal meetings and collaboration, not for meetings with clients. At least earlier versions weren't as reliable as other paid options.
