About FOUNDATION
FOUNDATION is a construction accounting software designed to help businesses track financial statements and handle job costing operations on a unified platform. It enables organizations to capture and store various construction related documents like subcontracts, retainage, wage rates, purchase orders, and more in a centralized repository.
The platform allows professionals to track change orders and inventories, receive alerts for expired insurance certificates, and share purchase orders (POs) using multiple jobs and cost codes. It offers a variety of features including auditing, cash flow management, reporting, billing, budgeting, project management, and more. Managers can also utilize FOUNDATION’s payroll management module to automatically calculate pay rates, taxes, or deductions, record timecard entries for employees, and set up rules for fringe reductions.
FOUNDATION facilitates integration with various third-party estimating, project management, and timekeeping applications such as Procore, ProEst, ProjectHQ, Raken, Rhumbix, FollowupCRM, Payroll4Construction.com, and more. Using the integrated accounts payable system, finance teams can create lien waivers or credit memos, process invoices, and monitor A/R aging and retainage by jobs or vendors in real-time.

Pros
I love how user friendly Foundation is. I have always had help if needed from their awesome support reps.
Cons
I feel like it is pretty straight forward. I have not come across anything that I have not liked. There are a few things that I would like to see it have but those are personal preference.

Pros
Our company has been a Foundation client since 2016, and their customer support is always to notch. They will resolve all questions quickly and efficiently, and if some problems require actual updates to their software, they will put those into development que and make updates to improve their product based on customer feedback! Job costing is key in construction, and with Foundation it is built in once your company is live with Foundation. Foundation also has their payroll service, Payroll4Construction that is directly inside the software, so even complex Union and Certified payroll is simple to do and all Certified payroll reports come out either electronically to upload to various platforms, or on paper to send to entities who request those types of file.
Cons
Not much to dislike. Very robust system.

Easy to use very easy to learn. The classes that are offered are a great help
Cons
Payroll reports. Can not get daily reports on date payroll is paid. Not a fan of the AP input screen when using tab button it skips several key points and have to mouse it back to enter invoice number

It is a good construction accounting system with a bunch of good features and modules but dated methods of data entry. some features are really good, but many are duplicated, time consuming and prone to mistakes at times. e.g. Control date in AP module -option to prevent you entering any out-of-date invoices - it doesn't do the job, it lets you post it whenever you like for year 2000, 1930 or 2250 which creates a lot of problems with reports because option to select 2 different dates and control date functionality only controls Invoice date and not Transaction date, which is painful to find and only shows in certain reports and not all. There are other glitches which hinders you do your job accurately and fast. there are examples you may find if you use foundation - e.g. prepaid credit invoice automatically (glitch) selects regular invoice and treating the credit card as checking account. Another one if you are selecting job name and cost code by typing the number, it would keep giving you error to select until it is selected from the drop-down list of Jobs, cost code or cost class and to do that you have to select different item before you select the correct one.Now we just use mostly the base modules AP, AR, Payroll, Job Costing and GL.
Pros
It has more modules to offer for construction companies comparatively other accounting software.It gets the job done.
Cons
1. Many modules to offer but many basic features not available. e.g. Payroll module fully functional but no option to print Corrected W2 and when contact support, they say we do not have that functionality and go to IRS website to print one. 2. Many functions on daily basis cancel each other out or overlap. e.g. Equipment module & Payroll module for work orders.3. Permission levels not optimized for security. e.g., Access to Vendors, it is either all information including account deposit or nothing. You can't have two tiers of permissions for employees: it's all or nothing.4. Bid Proposals can't be copied to AIA's.5. Mobile Time App not user friendly at all, full time sync error; on web, 90% of the time you need to clear cache & cookies or use private/incognito mode to use it.6. Training at start is only for basic use and they do not import your previous data, only bring in balances. If you ask later to import, they say it should have been done at the beginning when going live. after you go live, no help or you can use their consulting service to help you which will cost $250 per hour.7. Scheduler - no updates for last 3 plus years. Only available for print option - no export to excel or access in the field.8. Document Imaging - Routing for invoice approval is dated9. No audit log, only shows whoever made the last change on transaction.Actually, the list is endless from last 3 years of use, but it gets the job done with certain limitations.

Pros
They take on all the liability through hosted.
Cons
Hosted is down once every month or so which obviously impacts business. I've also recommended, for years, that they need to change how change orders work. You would think an approved change order would allow you to adjust your budget within a particular job but not in Foundation. You have return to the original budget and then make the change there. It makes zero sense.
