Cloud-based EHR and medical practice management software

About Unified Practice

Unified Practice is a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software designed to help clinics handle appointment scheduling, patient intake, ePrescribing, billing, and insurance verification, among other processes on a unified platform. The system automatically synchronizes prescription data with available inventory, sends notifications about low stock, and lets healthcare workers add new items according to requirements.

Using Unified Practice, physicians can send invoices to patients, create or modify prescriptions and generate Center of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) 1500 forms. Clinics can customize availability based on room or location, create treatment protocols and duplicate subjective, objective, assessment, and plan (SOAP) notes from previous medical charts. Administrators can also gain insights into insurance billing, finances, payments, product profit and loss, clinic performance, and other metrics through reports.

Unified Practice enables wellness providers to accept payments via credit, debit, Visa, and other cards. The platform sends appointment reminders to patients via email or text to reduce delays and no-shows. It also integrates with iCalendar and Google Calendar to synchronize booking schedules.

Key benefits of Unified Practice

It offers holistic medical charting, inventory management, integrated telehealth, appointment reminders, online clinic forms for patients and billing reports to track business activities.

Integrated EHR with tons of features and crazy good customer service

Great experience, repeatedly. I find UP easy to use and practical. As I said, amazing customer service. If you can't figure something out, like how to configure your online schedule, for example, they will jump on a Zoom call with you and actually walk you through it.

Pros

I love the Unified Practice combines an online schedule with an EHR, which means that new patients who schedule are automatically added as patients and sent new patient paperwork. It also integrates with email provider, Constant Contact, and is HIPAA compliant with this integration, so it's easy and secure to move patient emails into Constant Contact and send marketing emails. Lastly, their customer service always blows me away. Inside the software you can chat almost immediately with the helpdesk (a real person). They usually answer within an hour if not sooner, and they check in on you to see if implementing their suggestion was helpful.

Cons

The only suggestion I'd make is to add a "Waitlist" feature. I'd love a way for potential patients to share their information with me (email, etc.) even if I don't have availability for new patients in the moment. Then when an appointment time opens up, I could give them a call and see if they're available to come in. Hint hint!

Response from Unified Practice

Thanks for the review! We will look into the waitlist feature for our roadmap!

Unified Practice is too convenient to not use

Customer service is very responsive and helpful. Software does what I need it to do. I have a centralized software that does many things well and much more affordably than I think would be the case if I shopped around (e.g. credit card processor is very cheap and integrated so it automatically reconciles with your clients' charts, saves me time and money).

Pros

I love that UP has everything I need. It truly is a fully unified software. HIPAA-compliant charting and client communication, charting, scheduling, billing... I had a website developer try to convince me to let him do some sort of integrated scheduling besides UP on my website and I was like, "absolutely not, UP has that covered." I'm like a walking UP advertisement, I cannot be convinced to switch it up.

Cons

UP was hard to learn how to use at first, and actually there are a lot of features I don't use or don't find helpful. I practice in a very unique way (Worsley 5E acupuncture, Japanese palpation-based acupuncture, Classical acupuncture, and a little TCM informing them all) so I don't use many of the diagnostic tools as they're built. But I'm able to manually write in everything the way I want to and being able to upload and write on my own templates has made it all possible. I wish there was an easier way to view the chart history at a glace for a single client to show me what treatments I've already done.

Reasons for Switching to Unified Practice

Mindbody was meant for a HUGE practice, which I wasn't planning to have, and it didn't have EHR. It was incredibly expensive. UP also had a fresh out of school discount which I took advantage of my first year in business!

Response from Unified Practice

Thanks for the feedback and the review Grace!

We have lots of plans for more flexibility in the system that sound like they would benefit you!

Too bulky

Reviewed on 2019/10/30

Pros

It utilized an app and the customer service was good.

Cons

Too bulky and not very user friendly. I used it for my previous clinic (Three Treasures Holistic Care) and I didn't want to use it for my new clinic.

Reasons for Switching to Unified Practice

I was told I could use it for both counseling and acupuncture. I discovered it was too bulky and not user friendly for either.

Response from Unified Practice

Hi Damita, Thank you for the review! Were there specific features that you felt were too bulky? We're always updating and streamlining our software and would love some more detail from you!

Jane

Reasons for Switching to Unified Practice

I didn’t do my homework otherwise I would have started with Jane. UP billed me another month of text messaging just because after I switched to Jane, I needed to download files for 1 day and I was charged for a whole month.

Response from Unified Practice

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the review. We only charge for SMS usage, meaning you were only charged for the reminders that you sent to your patients. We bill the month after usage. Texts you sent before you switched systems may have been charged after you left.

Our pricing tiers are lower than Jane's and part of the reason is to allow our users more flexibility to choose the add-ons they want, rather than pay a premium subscription price to have add-ons they won't use.

We strive to be the best charting experience to provide the best patient care. Thank you for giving us a chance and we hope your new software meets your needs!

Its easy for the front desk to schedule patients and allows me to be organized and avoid double booking

I like that is specific to acupuncturists, and the learning curve is relatively small
