Language learning software with activities and lessons

About Mango

Mango is an online language learning software designed to help government organizations, educational institutions, libraries, and businesses offer corporate training to employees in multiple languages using listening or reading activities, courses, conversational lessons, critical-thinking exercises, and more. Administrators can gain insights into each learners' progress in real-time, authenticate students and track overall organizational usage including total or mobile sessions and average learning time.

Mango allows teachers to organize assessments, classes and activities, create student groups to facilitate engagement, track learning progress, and access training materials, course guides, workbooks, and lesson plans from within a unified platform. Its parental controls let users add content classifications to children's profiles to block access to specific materials. The system also offers mobile applications for Android and iOS devices.

Learners can use Mango to record their voice and compare it with native audio to improve pronunciation. Other features include engagement tracking, dashboard, offline or downloadable lessons, and family profiles.

A solid, slow pace learning platform for people who are willing to circle back and review previous work.

Pros

Mango gives you a constant feeling of progress as you work through the lessons and keeps bringing you back around to old lessons to make sure you don't forget anything.

Cons

If you move through the lessons at a fast pace you can end up with information overload and not be able to remember everything you're trying to learn.

Overall Good

Reviewed on 2021/08/08

Pros

Mango utilizes more speaking skills than other apps…DuoLingo etc. Additionally, it teaches you to speak and read in a more natural colloquial way rather than a more formal, possibly outdated way.

Cons

Paying for more access is not always possible for individuals, and continually logging in can be tiresome.

Mango is helping me learn a language I will need to conduct business overseas with. With a growing family, the app allows me to learn at my convenience and gain at least a rudimentary fluency. For true fluency, I think access to an instructor is necessary.

Pros

I like the audio narration of each lesson. The quality of the sound bites is excellent. There seems to be a large selection of available languages.

Cons

I wanted more vocabulary builder lessons that rely on memorization, fill-in-the-blank, and matching exercises. There were too many grammar lessons.
