Oracle Database

About Oracle Database
Oracle database services and products offer customers cost-optimized and high-performance versions of Oracle Database, the world's leading converged, multi-model database management system, as well as in-memory, NoSQL and MySQL databases. Oracle Autonomous Database, available on premises via Oracle Cloud@Customer or in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, enables customers to simplify relational database environments and reduce management workloads.
Oracle Database is a data warehouse software designed to help businesses of all sizes manage data and automate recurring tasks using machine learning-enabled tools. The platform enables managers to generate business models, transform data, and detect hidden anomalies across datasets.
Administrators can mask sensitive data and assess user security to ensure compliance in accordance with general data protection regulation (GDPR) protocols. Oracle Database also lets supervisors gain insights into geospatial data to identify business opportunities in different sectors.
Oracle Database allows teams to apply statistical analysis and pattern recognition features across large datasets and manage data backups on a unified interface.
Key benefits of Oracle Database
Assess, detect, and prevent data security threats with Oracle database security solutions for encryption, key management, data masking, privileged user access controls, activity monitoring, and auditing. Reduce the risk of a data breach and simplify and accelerate compliance.
Free application developers from complex transformations and redundant data with Oracle’s converged database.
Deploy Oracle Database wherever required—in your data center, public cloud, or private cloud. This offers the flexibility between deployment in your data center when residency or latency are critical, or in the cloud when you want to take advantage of scalability and the broadest set of capabilities.

Oracle Database: the big name in relational and cloud DBMS.

We developed a lot of Java-based desktop/enterprise applications with Oracle in the back-end. Customer support was amazing in addition to the vast amount of resources available online to tackle almost any issue in installation, setup, development and deployment. Way ahead of other rival products such as MS-SQL Server, MySQL, DB2.
Pros
The advanced relational database management features from transaction management, SQL query optimization, concurrency control, security in design, to cloud integration to mention few make Oracle a way ahead of competition in the RDBMS cloud database market.
Cons
Oracle is a bit expensive with a complicated licensing process. This is justified in return of the smartest DBMS algorithms available but still some more flexible cloud licensing strategies would make the system much better accessible to developers and administrators.
Reasons for Choosing Oracle Database
The scalability of the database and the resilience of the algorithms available in Oracle makes it on the top of the list when selecting a production relational database management system.- Industry: Printing

Oracle helped our business use secure filesharing, but wasn't great. We stored a lot of stuff on their database but I am overall not a fan. It was helpful to our company, but I feel like there HAS to be bigger and better and more user-friendly products out there doing a better job.
Pros
Had to use it for work. It was ok for filesharing, but I feel like half the time it didn't work anyway.
Cons
DEFINITELY needs a facelift in terms of its GUI. I thiiiink it needs to be more secure too, I feel like we had issues with security but I could be wrong. Seems old and outdated and like it should have already been replaced and made obsolete by some sexy new Google or startup product.

Doing a base install of oracle DBMS is pretty easy. Setting up instances, tablespace, permissions, roles, and user schemas is more complex. However, having the skills necessary to do all this makes it easier. We also run Oracle RMAN for nightly backups, and transaction log backups makes our DR and recovery very easy to manage.
Pros
Widely used software for the applications we need to run our business. With support options we need to ensure it remains online 100%
Cons
Ridiculously expensive to purchase and complex license terms and conditions. Support is painful to get to the right team. however, resolution for issues once you get to the team is quick and painless.
Reasons for Switching to Oracle Database
We needed oracle DBMS as the primary applications we need to use primarily only supported oracle database software. It made the decision pretty easy at that point.- Industry: Computer Software

Overall, we just loved this product. Earlier we were on mysql, but we are not getting good performance. So we switched to oracle although cost of license goes but high but we are very satisfied . No user can complaint us about slowness or any kind of performance degradations.
Pros
What i like the most about oracle is their public forum, people are very helpful and even when you log a tciket with support they are great too. Now coming to functionalities, its notification, backup strategies, IO user interface how to troubleshoot performance cases and replications stratigies were superb. I can handle everything by my own. My database size is 6TB and i can just sleep well in confidence it will work fine and perfectly
Cons
Till now i dont have negative thing to say about oracle. Its being used my 90% of organisations and it has everything which is required by an application to make their app/website and product falwless
